 The World Bank has projected Malaysia’s economy to grow by 5.7 per cent in 2014 and 4.7 per cent in 2015. Growth
will be underpinned by robust domestic growth, against a less favourable external outlook. In its latest Malaysia
Economic Monitor, launched today, it described enlarging the middle class as critical to reducing income inequality
and promoting shared prosperity in Malaysia. “Malaysia has used its rich natural resources and high economic growth
to lift millions of households out of absolute poverty,” says Ulrich Zachau, World Bank country director for Malaysia.
 Malindo Air aims to have a fleet of 100 aircraft in the next 10 years and will extend passenger services to South and
East Asia, particularly Southern China in 2015. To date, Malindo Air has 11 ATR72-600 and seven Boeing 737s.Chief
executive officer Chandran Rama Murthy said the carrier would also introduce strategies to increase ancillary income
throughout 2015.“While we are very much focused on expanding ATR operations this year, we are looking to enhance
our capacity and route network further to include Boeing operations,” he said in a statement to announce the
commencement of a new daily flight service from Kuala Lumpur to Nepal on Feb 6, 2015.
 RHB Research expects another challenging year next year for banks amid a softer macro backdrop, tighter liquidity and
rising concerns over assets quality. Retaining its ‘neutral’ call on the banking sector, RHB Research said the majority of
the headwinds would be largely similar to those seen this year, although the macro backdrop has turned more volatile.
“The implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and lower oil prices will likely constrain domestic demand
growth, leading to a more moderate increase in consumer spending and private investment.”
 THE BRICS grouping of emerging market nations is leading the flight of illicit capital from the developing world,
according to data in a new report released this week.In its annual estimate of illegal capital flows, Washington-based
think-tank Global Financial Integrity (GFI) said a record US$991 billion (RM3.46 trillion) was siphoned in 2012 from the
world’s developing economies, an increase of almost five per cent from 2011.
 MAH Sing Group Bhd and Sunway REIT are among Nomura Research’s top property and real estate investment trust
(REIT) stock picks in the Asean region.Nomura has started initiating coverage on Malaysia’s REITs this month, and Mah
Sing and Sunway REIT are part of its Asean list of 28 property players.While it prefers growth to yield next year for Asia
ex-Japan equities, Nomura has identified the two Malaysian stocks among the Asean property counters it covers for
income-focused investors that are still looking for dividend yield ideas.
