3. INTRODUCTION TO wLMcs:
WLMCS means Water Level Monitoring & Control System
It is an embedded, data acquisition and control system
which is made up of electrical and electronic components
used in monitoring the level water and also automatically
control the water pump.
A WLMCS reduces the wastage of resources (water), saves
power(used in pumping the water), conserves the
environment from (constant water overflow from tank).

These are the methods used in water level measurement.
They include;
Visual method
Float and arm system
Upthrust method
Pressure measurement

By utilizing one of the properties of water which is conductivity,
the bases of the various transistors is connected to an electrode
which conducts current when the water touches the electrodes
placed at various levels in the tank.

9. Importance &
Applications
In many processes involving liquids contained in vessels, such as distillation
columns, reboilers, evaporators, mixing tanks etc. the particular level of liquid
in each vessel can be of great importance in process operation. A level which is
too high or too low may upset reaction equilibriums causing damage to
equipment and also hazards.
It reduces wastage of water, saves power/energy
It helps in indicating the level/volume of water in an overhead tank without
one climbing to check.
Water level monitoring and control system can be used in the agricultural
sector, industries/factories, power plants, houses, chemical plants and other
liquid storage system.
10. conclusion
Water is one of the most important basic needs for living
being, but unfortunately a huge amount of water and power is
wasted as a result of uncontrolled use of them.
Water level monitoring and control system employs the use of
different technologies in its design, development and
implementation. The system used microcontroller to
automate the process of water pumping in an overhead tank
storage system and has the ability to detect the level of water
in a tank, switch on/ off the pump accordingly and also
displays the water level status on an LCD screen. This system,
thereby tackles the challenges of power and resources wastage.
