This document discusses various aspects of reading comprehension and effective reading strategies. It addresses topics like top-down and bottom-up processing, coherence and cohesion, referencing within and outside of texts, and features of well-written texts. It also discusses how good readers adjust their skills based on the text, use ongoing questions to guide understanding, and integrate top-down and bottom-up approaches. Metacognition and combining old and new strategies are highlighted as well. Comprehension problems can arise from mismatches between reader and writer perspectives or expectations.
