This Webinar presentation is from PNSQC with Ying Ki Kwong as a special guest speaker. Much has been written about quality and risk management from the perspectives of organizations that design, develop, and implement software systems. However, many enterprises no longer build software systems internally but, instead, acquire them from contractors. For an organization that acquires software systems, project management needs to be done from a different perspective, and quality and risk management needs a different focus and emphasis than the organization responsible for building the systems. Agile, with some of its primary tenets including focus on short iterations, needs to be adapted in order to work successfully in an environment where organizations acquire software built by a third party. In this presentation, we discuss problems and issues that arise when fitting Agile into these environments and discuss areas where Agile needs to be adapted in order to be successful. We conclude with the observation that system development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies like Agile is one facet of delivering enterprise system projects successfully in large organizations.

This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

• Technological feasibility is carried out to determine whether the company
has the capability, in terms of required technology, software, hardware,

services to the business? Could there be a reduction in costs and/or an increase in

• We may have the technology, but that doesn't mean we have the
skills required to properly apply that technology - The learning
curve of the team members will impact the schedule.
• Given our technical expertise, are the project deadlines
reasonable? Determine whether the deadlines are mandatory or
desirable? If the deadlines are desirable rather than mandatory,
the analyst can propose alternative schedules.
• It is preferable (unless the deadline is absolutely mandatory)

What is a Problem Statement
A problem statement is a clear concise description of the issue(s) that need(s)
to be addressed by a problem solving team. It is used to center and focus the
team at the beginning, keep the team on track during the effort, and is used
to validate that the effort delivered an outcome that solves the problem
statement.

Questions a Problem Statement should answer
1.What is the problem? This should explain why the team is needed.
2.Who has the problem or who is the client/customer? This should
explain who needs the solution and who will decide the problem has
been solved.
3.What form can the resolution be? What is the scope and limitations
(in time, money, resources, technologies) that can be used to solve
the problem?

User Requirements
A member visits the library to retum the existing book/VCD/DVD and obtain
another one. The member hands the book over to the librarian and asks tor a

name/price/year of publication. The user may be able to locate the book from
her memory, and issue the same to the member. Alternatively, the librarian may
need to search for the book in its library database.

Types of Requirements
Business Requirements are higher level requirements of the goals, objectives
or needs of the enterprise. They describe such things as the reasons why a
project is initiated, what the project will achieve, and the metrics which will be
used to measure its success. Business Requirements describe needs of the
organization as a whole, and not groups or stakeholders within it. They are
developed and defined through enterprise analysis.
User Requirements are statements of the needs of a particular stakeholder or
class of stakeholders. They describe the needs that a given stakeholder has
and how that stakeholder will interact with a solution. Stakeholder
requirements serve as a bridge between business requirements and the
various classes of solution requirements. They are developed and defined
through requirements analysis.

Types of Requirements
Solution Requirements describe the characteristics of a solution that meet
business requirements and stakeholder requirements. They are developed and
defined through requirements analysis. They are frequently divided into sub-
categories:
Functional Requirements describe the behavior and information that the
solution will manage. They describe capabilities the system will be able to
perform in terms of behaviors or operations.
Non-functional Requirements capture conditions that do not directly relate
to the behavior or functionality of the solution, but rather describe
environmental conditions under which the solution must remain effective or
qualities that the systems must have. They are also known as quality or
supplementary requirements. These can include requirements related to
capacity, speed, security, availability and the information architecture and
presentation of the user interface.

Types of Requirements
Transition Requirements describe capabilities that the solution must have in
order to facilitate transition from the current state of the enterprise to a
desired future state, but that will not be needed once that transition is
complete. They are differentiated from other requirements types because
they are always temporary in nature and because they cannot be developed
until both an existing and new solution are defined. They typically cover
data conversion from existing systems, skill gaps that must be addressed,
and other related changes to reach the desired future state. They are
developed and defined through solution assessment and validation.
Assumptions and Constraints identify aspects of the problem domain that
are not functional requirements of a solution and will limit or impact the
design of a solution.
