Adverbs are words that modify verbs, adjectives, other adverbs, clauses, sentences or phrases by answering questions like how, in what way, when, where, or to what extent. Adverbs typically change or qualify the meaning of the word they modify without directly modifying nouns. Adverbs answer questions about the action, quality, place, time, or degree of the word they modify.
