Aqua Silencer
ABSTRACT
Polluted air causes physical ill effect decides undesirable aesthetic and physiological effects. The
main pollutants contributed by automobiles, electric power generating stations, industrial and
domestic fuel consumption, refuse burning, industrial processing etc. are carbon monoxide (CO),
unburned hydrocarbon (UBHC), oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and Lead. An aqua silencer is an
attempt mainly dealing with control of emission and noise. The noise and smoke level is
considerably less than the conventional silencer, it is cheaper, no need of catalytic converter and
easy to install.

The ethyl acetate had evaporated and left was the crude trimyristin.
I weighed the crude trimyristin in the round bottom flask on the analytical balance.
Weight of round bottom flask crude trimyristin: 95.7913g
Weight of crude trimyristin: 1.2663g
The next lab session I measured out 3mL of ethanol with a glass pipet and added it to the crude
trimyristin in the round bottom flask. I got a 250mL beaker, filled it half way with water and
placed the flask in it and heated the beaker with the flask on a hot plate until all the solid dissolved
and then let it cool to room temperature.
Once cooled, I placed the flask in an ice bath, which formed an orange solid.
Using suction filtration, I rinsed the solid with a few drops of chilled ethanol since the solid had
some yellow spots (impurities).
I placed the solid in my drawer to dry until the next lab session.
I took out the flask and scraped out the solid and weighed it on the analytical

Renewable And Alternative Energy Policies
When discussing renewable or alternative energy policies, common ideas such as more solar and
wind come to mind foremost without or with little thought when you hear renewable or alternative
energies. However, policies for these can be quite alarming to someone who does not work or study
the field. With Pennsylvania deregulating their the electricity sector in late 1996, alternative
energies were certainly not the first thing when it came to their minds when trying to reduce their
ever increasing electricity bills. Deregulation brought many ways for Pennsylvania to reduce costs,
with still many more questions to be answered and in 2004, when the Alternative EnergyPortfolio
Standards Act was passed, it was not just up to the Pennsylvania... Show more content on

However it is not until 2007 where AEPS s timetable for the next fifteen years for a progression to
hit their desired targets for renewable energies (State Impact). As it stands, PUC s standards
involve roughly an eighteen percent alternative energy resources by the year 2020 2021 (DSIRE).
In that eighteen percent, eight percent should be comprised of tier one energies, which includes
solar, wind, biomass, anaerobic decomposition, geothermal, ocean, fuel cells powered through
renewables, small hydro, poultry litter incineration facilities, waste to energy facilities
(Energy.Gov) and ten percent to be tier two energy usually, black liquor, blast furnace gas,
distribution generation, hydro, municipal solid waste, other caste, waste coal, waste heat, wood
/wood wastes solids (PUC 2013 Annual Report). Now standards and compliance are just numbers,
and not truly indicative of Pennsylvania s utility companies can keep up with them. In PUC s 2013
annual report, all standards are in compliance to their requirements for the 2013 year (PUC 4). That
means of the seventeen qualified generating facilities, each are in compliance to their quarterly
adjustments towards the goal of 18% alternative energies. For those adjustments, PUC uses the
formula:
Non solar PV Tier I % = New Tier I MWh generation/Electric Distribution Companies (EDC) and

times as likely to harm humans. Nearly half of the time victims who stay in violent households do
so because they are afraid for their own animals. Countless more never leave the home for their

Examples of methods of writing or developing a paragraph Narration Larry suddenly woke up
from a deep sleep. The sun was dazzling his half open eyes, and he couldn t figure out what time
it was. The door to his room was closed; the house was immersed in some sort of reckless silence.
He slowly got out of his bed and approached the bench right next to the window. For a moment,
he thought, he heard a tapping sound coming from the attic. Then again he heard the sound, only
this time it seemed to be somewhat closer. He looked outside the window and saw a man going

Analogy All life is a game of power. The object of the game is simple enough: to know what you
want and get it. The moves of the game, by contrast, are infinite and complex, although they
usually involve the manipulation or people and situations to your advantage. As for the rules,
these are only discovered by playing the game to the end. Cause and Effect In the past century,
government has expanded and become more involved in many new fields and aspects of life.
One reason for this change is that government has more to because the population has increased
by 600 percent over the past 100 years. More rules and regulations are needed to keep larger
numbers of people living and working together peacefully. Another reason for government
expansion is the growth of cities. The government has been forced to accept responsibility for the
water supply, transportation, fire and police protection, and waste disposal in urban areas. Use of

The Rape of Nanjing took place on December 13th, 1937. Japan invaded China with two navy

Contribute to Raising Awareness of Health Issues
1.1 Analyse reasons why it may be necessary to raise awareness of health issues.
To protect the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone I care for. By ensuring that I identify
health issues early I am able to inform the relevant people quickly and that will hopefully prevent
the health issues getting worse, meaning that their health, safety, wellbeing and quality of life is
improved and maintained as much as possible. It is also important to raise awareness to comply with
company policies and legislation.

2.3Review with others the demand for and interest in raising awareness of a particular health issue.
At regular resident meeting we discuss a range of topics and the residents say what they want in
the way of activates, dinner and other things. During this discussion we may talk about health
issues and possible ways of dealing with them. Also I have general talks with management and
colleagues and we discuss our feeling regarding raising awareness or if we may need extra training
in certain areas.
3.1Contribute to agreeing roles and responsibilities within a team planning awareness raising
activities/3.2Work with the team to plan a set of activities to raise awareness about a health issue.
When carrying out a awareness raising activities me and my colleagues would discuss what points
we need to cover and each would carry out major research, when we are doing the activity one
person would be the main talker and others would assist and interrupt where necessary. When
anyone identifies a health issue it is their responsibility to report it and document it where
necessary. When an activity has taken part everyone whom has been involved in that activity would
document it in the individuals care plan always ensuring that they do so in neat writing, signing and
dating everything and completing with facts only.

South Korean War Analysis
On September 28, 1950, the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Australian Regiment arrived in Pusan,
South Korea in what would be Australia s major contribution in the war effort against invading
forces from the north of the Korean peninsula, to the Korean People s Army (KPA). Following
Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies endorsement of UNSC Resolution 82, this would see the
beginning of a three year conflict in which Australia would commit 17,000 troops and suffer over
300 fatalities, only five years after the end of the Second World War, (AWM, 2016) . In what was
predicated as Australia s commitment to providing peacekeeping troops for the United Nations to
preserve the freedom of South Koreans, the Korean War would eventually play a fundamental role
in solidifying Australia s shift in vital military alliances, in particular the post WWII development
of the United Statesin surpassing the United Kingdom as a key protector of Australia.

to Australian security interests, in can be seen that the development of the conflict heightened ...

Moldova Case Study
Moldova, one of the poorest countries in Europe, is facing a very problematic difficulty in its
attempts to rise out of its current impoverished condition. This is because east of the Dniester river
there exists a hostile nation that s technically not there. This state, Transnistria, is one that
technically does not exist, as it is one of many breakaway states in Europe that does exist in reality,
but receives no international recognition. This is in despite of it being a de facto state. Boasting its

independent nation, as stated by Mallonee, Russia has not formally recognized the breakaway state,
and does not appear inclined to. . This minor nation is causing major ripples throughout the
European community , and its significance is vast, despite its lack of recognition and size (Skordas).
1992 was an odd year; the Soviet Union had just collapsed and states in Eastern Europe were still
deciding what they should do. One of these nations, Moldova, which broke away from the Soviet
Union in 1989 had declared autonomy and sought to create a new state, free of Russian influence.
This gave rise to Russian separatists in the eastern part of the country(Englund Fears ) who waged
a small civil war in order to gain their independence. This war lead to the creation of Transnistria,
which has maintained autonomy since the war s end in 1993(Englund Fears ). This autonomy is
largely the result of the ceasefire implemented by Russia itself, which involves over 1,200 Russian
soldiers to be stationed in Transnistria; this has been a major point of political tension in the region,

How Technology Impacts family Interaction
Researched and Written By: Rick Luebbert
Technology has had a profound effect on the modern family. This research paper will explore how
technology has a specific impact on the way families interact with each other. The technological
advances of home computers and cell phones are just a few of the things that have transformed the
way families interact and communicate with one another. Technologywill continue to change the
landscape of how the modern family networks together. Technology gives us the opportunity to
communicate with people around the world through a computer screen as if the person were right in

Technology can have a direct impact on the social development of children.
The majority of families today have computers in the home. A lot of families have children that
have their own personal computers. Video games are more popular than ever and most children
have some sort of video game console in their home as well. Television has been in the modern
family home for many years now. It is easy to assume that nearly one hundred percent of homes in
The United States has at least one television somewhere in the house. Most families have multiple
televisions throughout the house. You can also assume that cellular telephones are owned and used
by every family in The United States.
All of these advances in applied science have the ability to enhance the human development from
an early age. All of these advances in applied sciences can also be a detriment to families
interacting with one another. These advances in technology divide families from one another.
Children and parents alike can sit and watch television for hours without saying a word to one
another. Children who play video games all afternoon instead of face to face social interaction are
affected by this. They tend to become more independent from societal interaction.
The brain programs itself through experience. These brain s neural networks that influence the way
we interact with other human beings is compromised and defected by the lack of

The Ozark Actors Theatre And Their Mission

general, they relate to the supply side theory as to why they exist. The supply side theory
attributes the existence of nonprofit organizations to the vision and initiative of individuals who
have created and built them (Worth, pg. 50). Additionally, the organization also exists as a
common good, one that cannot be consumed alone by an individual nor are they an interest or

Growth of Computers
With the evolution of technology, computers have become more and more advanced due to the

Analysis Of Tom Jones And Moll Flanders Essay
The novels Tom Jones and Moll Flanders share a commonality, and showcase it in very similar
ways. That commonality is the pursuit of wealth, but at the same time it is also a discrepancy,
which is shown through how the story s title characters set out to obtain it, and their views
regarding it. Before we can divulge what our characters view wealth as, we must grasp an
understanding of the term itself. Merriam Webster s dictionary defines wealth as the value of all
the property, possessions, and money that someone or something has. (Merriam Webster) Wealth
can also be perceived in a spiritual sense, were one is content with their life and often has a strong
relationship with God. For our purposes here, I think it is safe to assume that our authors mean to
use wealth in its physical sense of possessions and dollar signs rather than enlightenment in their
novels. Through this work we will examine with evidence why love and money is equitable in
these two novels. We will also show why our protagonists are complete opposites of one another
when talking about their wealth. We will first examine our novels characters and their pursuit of
monetary gain, starting with Moll Flandersand it s protagonist of the same pseudonym. From the
onset of the novelMoll is always lusting after the carefree lifestyle. As a young girl Moll refuses
to work when she is living with her family. At last one of them ask d me what a Gentlewoman

The camera technique used is a Medium Long Shot; this allows the audience to see the attack and
the surroundings in more detail.
The director builds up fear for the shark by making the music seem sly and dangerous. The
director also makes the music seem like the kind of music you would expect from a murder film.
He also builds tension by showing all the attacks in detail and comes quite at a distance so you
can see just what actually happens to the victims as if you were watching from the beach.
However during the film the shark is described as 25 feet long and weighing 3 tons, several time,
this is in a way of giving the audience clues and it even creates a picture in the audiences heads of
what its finally going to look like. In the film other sharks are also mentioned as well as the great
White Shark, although they both almost paint the same image in the audience s head as they both
show you different ways physical and emotional damages that the shark can cause. The Physical
techniques used are usually to scare the audience in a sodden movement. And the Emotional

Catcalling And Social Media
Street harassment, also know as catcalling, is an action that I hate the most. Street harassment is
unwanted sayings or gestures that are targeted toward someone in specific based on sexual
orientation or gender, and in this case, women. Catcalling can be verbal such as compliments, like,
hey, baby. Catcalling can be physical, like groping a part of the body, and it can also be sexual
remarks. When I see street harassmenton social media, like in a picture or a video, I feel
uncomfortable, so I can t even imagine how some women feel when they have inappropriate
comments thrown at them constantly.
I think catcalling is the dumbest thing that anyone could have possibly thought of. Women don t
deserve to get harassed on the street. We want to get from point A to point B without any
interruptions, unless it s with our consent and if it s a friend whom consent was given to. If I
have to get stopped on the street for a gross man to comment on my butt or follow me, it is not
going to be a very good day. Most women I know, do not enjoy the act of being catcalled,
however, research from ILR ( Street Harassment Statistics ) and Hollaback!, a non profit
organization, showed that only 3%, out of 4,900 participants in the survey under the age of 40, has
found street harassment flattering. Some people do like it, and I m not going to shame, but I d
much rather have people that know me and are my friends compliment me in a nice way rather than
strangers comment on my body because they

James D. Watson s The Double Helix
James D. Watson s The Double Helix: A Personal Account of the Discovery of the Structure of
DNA is his version of what happened between 1950 and 1953 and how he and his colleague
Francis Crick discovered the structure of DNA. In this essay I will establish how Watson presents
himself, how he describes his own personality and character as a scientist, the nature of scienceand
the characteristics of the scientific community. In particular, how he depicts the the character and
personality of other scientists specifically Linus Pauling and Rosalind Franklin. I will do this in
relation to Mertonian norms Communism and Organised Skeptism as well as Ian Mitroff s counter
norms Secrecy, Passionate Commitment and Dogmatism for Watson s choice to indirectly make

It is constantly recurring throughout his autobiographical statements as he recounts how each small
discovery by the scientists he encounters help find a simple explanation, model for the structure of
DNA from the complex ideas and evidence they began with. It is seen that each scientist had
something to contribute whether it was a discovery or knowledge in their area of expertise that
was beneficial in the discovery of the DNA structure. For example, when Crick saw
Crystallographer V.Vand s discovery of a theory for the diffraction of x rays by helical molecules
though he thought the theory was invalid it peaked his curiosity in finding an accurate theory.
Furthermore, in Watson s interview it is seen that when it comes to science he thinks that if there is
scientific knowledge that will affect human beings , scientists, the scientific community should

Argumentative Essay On Area 51
Imagine you are standing in front of a large, official looking building. The doors slowly open
revealing an...alien? Area 51 is an extremely mysterious place, and not much knowledge has been
released to the public about it. If you dig deep enough, information can be found about what Area
51 is, theories surrounding this odd place, stories from a retired scientist, a possibly even more odd
and mysterious building nearby, and, the oddest part about this place, its residents. Area 51has some
interesting history. It is located in southern Nevada, some what near Las Vegas. Officially, it is a
United States Air Force Facility and is an extended branch of the Edwards Air Force Base. The
primary purpose of this base has not been revealed to the public. The CIA acknowledged the base
for the first time in 2005. The base s official name is Homey Airport, but was called Area 51 in an
official CIA document during the Vietnam War. Some popular nicknames for the base are
Dreamland, Paradise Ranch, and Home Base.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sightings in the United States. Supposedly, Kevlar, an extremely strong material that is used to
make tires and other rubber products, was designed from UFOs because of how strong it is.
Another popular theory about is that time travel is studied at Area 51, but there is not solid

My Most Memorable Experience Of A Dentist
Whining, grating, mixing, and swishing are sounds I hear on and off. Each afternoon I join in
to hear the noises. These are the notes I want to hear for the rest of my life. I choose to spend
my years in just a few rooms as a dental assistant. I have come to know these rooms so vividly a
dentist s office is home for me. My most favorite place in the clinic is my little laboratory. It is the
heart of the office, centered between the two operatories and producing the supplies for our
patients. I am reminded of my kitchen, surrounded by the pale blue walls lined with chestnut
cabinets and ivory counters, this hole is my vacation. As I clean and store our little instruments

My most memorable experience from an operatory is when we were extracting some teeth from
an elderly woman. As the dentist tugged on her, the woman threw her head back with the
release of the tooth. Her wig flew off her head and into the wall. We were so shocked. The dentist
and I held in our laughter out of respect of the patient. When the woman began to giggle, my
doctor roared and cackled with laughter. I was stunned, because he has always been a quiet and
reserved man. This experience created a sense of comfort for me. I learned to relax in the rooms.
The room most alien to me is the breakroom. A small, quiet room filled with a comfy leather
couch is a place I never have time for. There is always work to be done. The room barely
manages to support its contents a small counter with a sink, a microwave, a small refrigerator,
and the leather couch. It is my little cramped RV I never get to drive. Lunch is the only hour I get

receptionist s tuna swarms the air. I grab my can of raviolis and dump them into a bowl. All I can

The Political Landscape Of South Eastern Asia
Introduction: The political landscape of South Eastern Asia
The politics of South Eastern Asia in respect to the conflicts of India Pakistan Kashmir dispute
and the Korean Peninsula dispute, are really leftover cleavages by greater powers that occupied
/supported the respective regions. Hence like all leftover problems of the ages past, it is
complicated by nature. However as all actors seek to win the favor of great powers once more,
the regional power, China is facing a complicated problem, the problem of having to supporting an
ungrateful ally and supporting an ally that won t win, all involved in conflicts that can t be solved
in the foreseeable future. China, despite having a personal benefit and loss in both, really has no
idea what she is doing.
A rivalry of ideology: The conflict between North and South Korea
When we talk about the conflict between North and South Korea, we need to go back to the history
of Korean Warin 1950(), which is also a part of the Cold war. During this conflict, there were also
some international power interventions, the United States of America, USSR and PRC were all
get involved to some extend. On June 25, 1950, the troops of Communist Kim II Sung crossed the
dividing line and separate the Korean Peninsula into two separate parts between the South and the
North because of South Korea s constant defiance (). This is also considered as the beginning of
the Korean War as well as pulls the rivalry history of North and South Korea open.

Language Pedagogy And Teaching Strategies
Language Pedagogy and Teaching Strategies
Recent decades has witnessed the method of language teaching in Second Language Acquisition
(SLA) has a shift from grammar translation toward Communicative Language Teaching (CLT)
(Brandl, 2007). During the 20th century, as increased attention was paid to the demand of
communication skills, grammar translation method which emphasizing knowledge of grammatical
rules and translation activities was no longer effective (Richards Rodgers, 2001). In Australia,
CLT is a preferred approach to be adopted for second language teaching (Fernandez, 2008).
Therefore, the pedagogy of CLT incorporating an array of supportive teaching strategies will be
implemented in my LOTE teaching to ensure that all L2 learners are engaged, challenged and
learning successfully.
Communicative Language Teaching
Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) is a method to teach modern languages that focuses on
learning to communicate. In terms of principles of CLT, Kumaravadivelu (2006, p.118) asserts that
language is a system for expressing meaning and the central purpose of language is communication
. It seems that from the perspective of CLT, language is a tool for meaningful communication.
Berardo (2006) claims that the concept of authenticity is essence to CLT including authentic
materials, tasks and language use. It is likely that the success of CLT could be achieved through
implementing authentic materials and meaning focused tasks in language teaching and

The Coach Of The Football Team
A thousand scenarios were uncontrollably running through my head as I thought about my brothers

me the most, all I could do is stand on the sidelines and cheer. I hated this feeling of helplessness,
but at the same time I knew there was little I could do.
It was Senior year, a year that is believed to be filled with excitement and simplicity. For many high
school students, Senior year is the last Hoorah and last opportunity to make memories with
fellow classmates. For me, Senior year was hell. Coming from a small school that heavily relied
on its Basketball program to give them a good name, attempting to be a part of other teams
/programs led to extreme criticism. So being captain of the Football team didn t provide any perks.
Being on the Football team predestined you as a thug , or even as a kid who frequently
misbehaved and displayed no enthusiasm to work. That s how the entire school perceived us,
faculty and all. Being a small group of about 32 players, half of which were predominantly
underclassmen, we had something to prove. Our goal was to eradicate all misconceptions that we
as football players faced. We wanted to make it clear to everyone that we were worthy enough to

Informed consent is the basis for all legal and moral aspects of a patient s autonomy. Implied
consent is when you and your physician interact in which the consent is assumed, such as in a
physical exam by your doctor. Written consent is a more extensive form in which it mostly applies
when there is testing or experiments involved over a period of time. The long process is making
sure the patient properly understands the risk and benefits that could possible happen during and
after the treatment. As a physician, he must respect the patient s autonomy. For a patient to be an
autonomous agent, he must have legitimate moral values. The patient has all the rights to his

I do not believe it is right to make a prisoner do something he does not want to do just because
there is a subject needed for research. Also, prisoners may give consent to have a little freedom
from their everyday environment. The Nuremburg Code and the Belmont Report were brought
upon to protect the prisoner subjects from harm and to give them protection from being forced to
consent in research. It also protects prisoners from being a population that is turned to for
experimental subjects in research. The poor population will easily give consent to a research
experiment because they will easily get money due to their voluntary role in the experiment.
Although the money compensation sounds great to the unfortunate populations, there is no
concern, other than money, or thought put into the overall experiment outcomes. They participate
in the research, but do not take into consideration the down side affect it may cause. During a
research, there are many people that did not know that giving consent to a research also meant
that you could withdraw from the research program if it was necessary at any given period (
Nelson Merz, 70). The terminally ill patients are also coerced to give consent because they are
hoping that by participating will help them get well. Prisoners, poor population, and terminally ill
patients are unethical subjects towards research because both are easily targeted and will accept
such small compensation

World War II is one of the most imfamous periods in human history. The world is still shocked
today by the horrific idea of the Nazi concentration camps from 1933 1945, but what many people
dont know is what awful, unimaginable things went on behind closed doors in these terrible places.
The Nazi SS doctors used the unknowing, innocent prisoners in these camps to experiment on for
their own personal pleasure and amusement. One of these infamous Doctors was Dr. Sigmund
Rascher, a German SS doctor during the Nazi regime. He experimented on the prisoners with the

Coal Mining Essay
Coal Mining Coal, a mineral I have discussed previously, is necessary to our everyday lives. Coal
is an incredible source of energy; it heats our houses and buildings, and also fuels stoves. You
may often wonder where this extremely useful mineral comes from. Coal does not just appear; it
needs to be mined through a process which results in our being able to utilize it. Coal mining is
fairly inexpensive, is carried out on a large scale and can be mined in either underground or
surface mines. Surface mining is the coal mining process that accounts for around 60% of the
United States coal. It tends to be very efficient, with a single worker recovering up to 30 to 40 tons
of coal in a day. To begin surface mining coal, a drill must... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

After the coal has been removed form the earth, it is still not ready for use; it must first be
refined. Coal must first be separated form foreign materials, for example other minerals, to be
considered useful to us. One way of doing this is called coal washing. The coal is first crushed
into smaller pieces, and then a liquid is used to separate the coal based on density. Coal that is
higher in density harbors more ash, so is left behind, whereas low density coal has contains little
ash and is more desirable. Another process to separate coal from foreign materials is call dry
shaling, which works without the use of liquid. After being separated, coal can be processed into
coke, and eventually steel. When coal is transported, it can be by means of truck, train, or ship,
and can go nearly anywhere. Truck and train transportation are the cheapest forms, particularly
train if you are shipping a great amount, and ships are used for overseas transport. Underground
mining accounted for 96% of the coal produced each year when it was done manually, and this was
fifty years ago. Most underground mines are located to the east of the Mississippi River; however
there are some in Utah and Colorado. More than two thirds of the coal mined underground is done
so using continuous mining machines in the room pillar method. The continuous miner breaks the
coal with tungsten bits on a revolving cylinder, and then conveys it to waiting shuttles which then

Analysis Of Nothing Gold Can Stay
Nothing gold can stay was written by Robert Frost in 1923. Frost was a U.S. citizen. Frost did
write a different copy dealing with his fear of a second world war because he thought that might
be the end of humanity. He only gave the original to people he trusted but released this copy to the
world instead. although the original poem is about the world ending this version is about losing
something new and good so it becomes a story which makes it a narrative.
The meaning of the title of the poem is slightly hidden because it refers to the meeting of the poem,
but the meaning of the poem is hidden by figurative language. Nothing Gold can Stay could be
interpreted different from person to person however there are only 2 meanings to the title. There is
no antithesis or historical reference to this poem.
There is little repetition in this poem and there are no repeated phrases but one repeated word is
gold .
This poem time frame is from spring to winter because the poem starts with the a bud then it
becomes a flower it changes then begins to die and you can arrive at this conclusion by the phrase
dawn goes down to day and nothing gold can stay. Those phrases both refer to a change whether
metaphorically or literally.
Eden is mentioned in this poem however Eden wasn t really a character in my eyes but rather a
form of personification, so kind of like mother nature but not exactly the same.
This version of the poem isn t the whole poem but rather is pieces of another different

Essay about How Psychologists Define and Explain Substance...
In order for psychologists to endeavour to define substance abuse, Substance itself must be defined
an in the context of psychology a substance is defined as anything an individual may ingest that
alters mood, cognition or behaviour. Therefore there is clearly a long list of substances including
chocolate (known for changes in level of neurochemical Serotonin) or Coffee (Stimulant). Hence the
term substance is more commonly referred to nicotine, alcohol, stimulants (i.e. cocaine and
Ecstacy) and depressants such as Heroin and Ecstacy.
There is distinction between Substance use and abuse. An individual who can enjoy an alcoholic
drink, for example, but in a context where there is no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Orford 2001 defines addiction (substance abuse) as an attachment to an appetitive activity, so
strong that a person finds it difficult to moderate an activity despite the fact it is causing harm.
Davidson and Neal in 1994 diagnosed substance abuse on the basis of two criteria. The first being
Clear and persistent pathological use of the substance involved and at least one of the following:
Failure to fulfil important obligation/putting oneself or others at physical risk/ having legal
difficulties/serious social or interpersonal problems.
The physiological approach explains substance abuse, using solely biological explanations
focussing on neurotransmitter chemicals, substances in the brain and on genetic differences
between people with and without addiction. Potenza 2001 stated that Neurotransmitters are
chemicals, which moves in the gaps between nerve cells to transmit messages. If the chemical is
blocked or replaced, for example, then the message changes and this affects the physiological
systems, also effecting, cognition, mood and behaviour. Dopamine is regarded as the most
commonly associated neurotransmitter having these effects, although other chemicals have been
shown to induce similar effects. Therefore resulting in a good feeling after in taking the substance.
According to Sarafino one element, which constitutes addiction, is physical dependency. Therefore

Drinking Coffee Elsewhere Essay
Racism in Drinking Coffee Elsewhere In ZZ Packer s book entitled Drinking Coffee Elsewhere,
we get to see how African Americans cope with their different situations dealing with family,
friendship, religion, and the pursuit of prosperity in the world. Within the short story collection
there is a story named after the title, Drinking Coffee Elsewhere, where we get to see the pressures
put on a young African Americanwoman, Dina, that causes her to resort to near complete isolation
of herself. Dina says at one point, We spent the winter and some of the spring in my room never
hers missing tests, listening to music, looking out my window to comment on people who wouldn t

One might argue that Dina is at fault for not taking matters into her own hands and taking
initative in life, but she ultimately cannot change how she was raised. From looking at this
situation, Dina is not completely at fault because it seems she was raised in an environment that
did not allow for her to have much success. And although she is at Yale, the environment seems
to still pull her back down from her potential that she could be achieving. She describes, Shortly
after getting my first C ever, I also received the first knock at my door (120). The fact that Dina
attends such a prestigious University like Yale shows that she is obviously gifted intellectually,
and yet she is still brought down because she is not socially accepted. Ultimately, Dina is not to
blame for isolating herself from everybody because negative outside pressures cause her to act the
way she does. Next, overt racism in Drinking Coffee Elsewhere only further exemplefies why
Dina has a reason to isolate herself from the rest of the world. Dina s counseler says to Dina, As
a person of color, you shouldn t have to fit into any white, patriarchal system (118). Dina
responds by saying, It s a bit too late for that (118). She realizes that it is impossible for her to try
and avoid the patriarchal system that exists. Dina has every reason to be frustrated with the people

When The Housing Market Collapse
When the housing market collapse occurred I was much younger and not fully aware or advised
of how serious the situation really was. Several of my family members owned homes then, but
looking back now they sheltered their children from the situation completely. I realized still to this
day I do not know how or what they were doing to get through the market collapse but I realize
my situation could have been much worse. Now years later I am faced with the decision to buy a
homesomeday like many in my generation and those looking to buy property again. But just like a
growing society its citizens must learn from previous mistakes made in order to avoid the same
outcomes and flourish.
Here are just some of the lessons we must learn from:
First you must do your own research. If you are seriously looking for a home look into
everything you can think of and then research some more. If you have a partner then you will be
able to expand your research with two different points of views and get more results. Don t depend
on Wall Street and their outlooks for the futurebecause in reality it is a game of chances. Just
because someone says jump off a bridge into shallow water because you won t drown would you
do it? The people on Wall Street and those in charge (unless psychic) can t predict the future.
Another lesson learned: Mortgage debt is real debt and must be paid eventually. A lot of home
owners would refinance their homes for extra cash but you can t do that forever.

Observation: Last week, a ball dispenser was out for the children to play with. It was on the top of
the shelf and Child A was trying to reach for it. Do you want the ball dispenser Child A ? , I said. I
took it from the shelf and put it on the floor; Child A sat down. I pressed the switch and the ball
came out from the ball dispenser. He smiled and I said, Oh! There it is! as the ball rolled on the
floor. He stood up walked towards the ball and picked it up. He walked back and put the ball into
the ball dispenser. He stared at it for two seconds and he looked at me and said ooh as he raised
his hands on his side. I said, Where is it, Child A ? Where did the ball go? . I held his hand and
guide it towards the switch, and pressed it. He laughed and I clapped my hands when the ball
came out from the dispenser, Yaay! You found it, Child A , I said. He imitated me and clapped
his hands as well. He put the ball in again and stared at it; I kept on looking at him to see if he
would press it. He kept on looking at me and on the candy dispenser while saying, Ooh ohhh .
Where is it, Child A ? What do we have to do? , I said. He was still looking at me and on the ball
dispenser. I assisted his hands on the switch again and after three tries he did it by himself. Earlier
today, children were playing with the ball dispenser as well. They were dancing whenever they

Traumatic Phobias
Phobias are an everyday annoyance found all over the world. Almost every human has some form
of a phobia. Phobias can be as small as being afraid of spiders, or as big as being afraid of dying.
Research has proved that one in 10 people suffer from a mildly traumatic phobia, and one in five
hundred people suffer from an extremely harmful phobia. Phobiasare classified as an anxiety
disorder. Due to the distress of attempting avoidance of these fears, they become a huge part of
people s everyday lives and can even become disabling. B. F. Skinner made numerous discoveries
about the principles of instrumental conditioning in the 1940 s and 1950 s. He created models of
animals and their phobias. Joseph Wolpe contributed to the study as well in the... Show more

Sigmund Freud believed that phobias had to do with our external bodies reflecting what our
internal emotions feel. Sigmund also believes the source of phobias always links back to your
childhood. I agree with this theory. As a child, your mind is so open and vulnerable that
anything can influence it. So if you were taught to be scared of snakes as a kid, you will most
likely carry that with you your whole life. Luckily, our world has learned to be so advanced to
be able to help us cope with these phobias. There are many therapy techniques that are made
specifically with your phobia in mind. In an article I read, I learned about a case of a woman
named Ellen. Ellen had a fear of flying due to a past uncomfortable experience. She was given
hands on therapy that exposed her completely to her fear. She was taken to visit airports and
gradually worked up to just sitting on planes. Once she was comfortable, she took various flights
that increased in time. Nearly two years later, Ellen got her pilot s license. As we advance
farther into science, we are able to get closer and closer to picking apart phobias. We are able to
reach into the human brain, study it, and help cure our fears! How cool is that? Although testing
on animals isn t right, we can thank monkeys for helping expand the knowledge of psychologists
on phobias. As the years go on and we accumulate more cases, we

Comparing Dagon, And The Picture In The House
H.P Lovecraft s inability to construct an entity of the unknown without the suggestion of an
unrelenting air of terror is acknowledged within Lovecraft s configuration of the weird tale. With
reference to the quotation provided, ideas around the notion of fear and the unknown will be
identified and explored in three of Lovecraft s stories: Dagon (1919), The Picture in the House
(1920), and The Outsider (1926). This essay seeks to not only decipher the nature of the unknown
presented within each story, but the nature of the fear in which each unknown entity provokes.

(1920), are subject to the narrator s fears, in The Outsider (1926), Lovecraft proposes... Show more

The nature of the threat in which the unknown entity bares on the limits of human comprehension
is identified within Lovecraft s stories through the respective narrator s active displacing of the

entity brings to the norms and values embedded within an increasingly endangered anthropic
civilization. The unknown adheres to, both entities perceived as physically grotesque, identified in
Dagon (1919), as well as those which surpass the realm of the physical to take the form of abstract

The World Of Collegiate Athletics
The world of collegiate athletics was founded upon the ideals of commercialism and is filled with
talented athletes that contain tremendous amounts of potential. Unfortunately, in order to bring in
revenue that serves as crucial funding for their universities nationwide, the NCAA exploits the
talent of these players and justifies this action by assuming the disguise of amateurism while also
managing to adopt an indistinct version of professionalism. Instead, the NCAA spends portions of
its revenue in order to renovate sports facilities and pay members of the coaching staff rather than
providing compensation for the main sources of its revenue the players and the attention that their
athletic talents bring to this organization. By... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By regarding participation in collegiate athletics as a hobby, the NCAA is subtly discrediting both
the hard work and dedication of college athletes. In their defense, the association of college athletics
with the word amateurism is believed to call these athletes to also put an emphasis on their
education. Even though collegiate athletics appear to be managed under the principles of
amateurism and call athletes to focus on their education, it doesn t necessarily mean that most of
these athletes actually want to emphasize education more than athletics. As talented individuals,
college athletes work hard in order to provide success for their respective teams and to properly
ensure their own success at the next level. Not only does an education that is forced upon some of
them detract from their athletic aspirations, but it also makes it highly infeasible for them to
sustain a job that regular college students have the chance to partake in. That is why a small form
of compensation from the NCAA would not only reward them for the mass amounts of revenue
that they bring in, but it would also provide a source of income that could only be obtained if these
athletes were able to pursue job opportunities.

Virginia Woolf The Moth
The Death of the Moth by Virginia Woolf
Death is a difficult subject for anyone to speak of, although it is a part of everyday life. In
Virginia Woolf s The Death of the Moth , she writes about a moth flying about a windowpane, its
world constrained by the boundaries of the wood holding the glass. The moth flew, first from one
side, to the other, and then back as the rest of life continued ignorant of its movements. At first
indifferent, Woolf was eventually moved to pity the moth. This story shows that life is as strange
and familiar as death to us all. I believe this story was well written and will critique the symbolism,
characters, and the setting.
Woolf uses symbolism in her essay when she speaks of the moth and... Show more content on

This symbolism Woolf applies to everyday human life, making us understand that death will all
happen to us one day, when it is our time. There is no escaping death when it comes for us.
The character of the moth and the way that Woolf s story unfolds makes you, as a reader, feel as
if you are there actually watching the moth die. Her descriptions of the moth s flight and the
struggle against death as he lived his life that day involves you in the mourning of someone or
something you love dying. You feel every movement that Woolf saw in the moth s life that day by
reading this essay. As Woolf describes how the moth flew vigorously to one corner of his
compartment, and after waiting there a second, flew across to the other, you can feel the moth s
movements (1178).
In Woolf s essay, the battle between life and death is somehow seen as both pathetic and noble.
Pathetic because death will always win regardless the desire for life; but noble in how one faces
death on our back, defeated, or on our feet, and in dignity. Woolf states one could only watch the
extraordinary efforts made by those tiny legs against an oncoming doom which could, had it
chosen, have submerged an entire city, not merely a city, but masses of human beings; nothing, I
knew, had any chance against death and shows the moth s courageous journey into death (1179).

Along with the EPA, the Regional Optimization Master Plan (ROMP) is also involved in this

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this experiment was to determine if soft drinks manufactured by Coca Cola use
phosphoric acid in their product formula. An analysis of their product concentrations of HCl and
H3PO4 was performed using the potentiometric titration method, with a standardized 0.1002 M
NaOH solution. The molarities of HCl and H3PO4 were determined by plotting the titration
data, the first derivative, and the second derivative of this data. The results of our analysis of the
three trials found the molarities of HCl to be 0.1232 M, 0.1232 M, and 0.1230 M, with a mean
of 0.1231 M and an average deviation of 0.8 parts per thousand. We are 95% confident that for
this set of data, the true mean lies within the range of 0.1228 and 0.1234 M. The molarities of
H3PO4 were found to be 0.1709 M, 0.1706 M, and 0.1702 M, with a mean of 0.1706 M and an
average deviation of 1 part per thousand. We are 95% confident that for this set of data, the true
mean lies within the range of 0.1698 and 0.1714 M. These values compare well to literature values

Story Of Jonah Research Paper
What is the first thing that pops into your head when you think of the story of Jonah? Most
people will explain him as a prophet who got swallowed by a fish. But, there is also more to that
story. The story of Jonah starts out with a man who worshiped God. Then, is called on by God to

people. Through this story, we are able to learn a great lesson about Godand his relationship with
Jonahalong with Jonah s remarkable story.
Jonah, son of Amittai, lived in Israel during the reign of Jeroboam 2, around 793 753 B.C. In the
Bible, Jonah s family is not mentioned much and they are only known as the parents of the
prophet Jonah. Jonah was a strong follower of God and he served the Lord gladly. At the time,
Assyria was a threat to Jonah s city. So, when Jonah s contemporaries, Amos and Hosea, said that
God was going to use Assyria as an instrument of punishment against his people, the Israelites were

Essay on Foucault Panopticism
Panopticism by Michel Focault
Works Cited Not Included
Our society is not one of spectacle, but of surveillance; under the surface of images, one invests
bodies in depth; behind the great abstraction of exchange, there continues the meticulous concrete
training of useful forces; the circuits of communication are the supports of an accumulation and a
centralization of knowledge; the play of signs defines the anchorages of power; it is not that the
beautiful totality of the individual is amputated, repressed, altered by our social order, it is rather
that the individual is carefully fabricated in it, according to a whole technique of forces and bodies.

The persons with the plague (lepers were included in this group) were always observed to
account for their presence. These people were supposed to be present at their windows for
attendance. Where they not present at the time, they were marked as dead. Their family would
be removed, the house would be cleaned out, perfumed, and then, a mere four hours later, people
would move back in. Obviously, the fear of not being observed would be strong in this situation,
a direct result of the drastic measures taken once someone s presence could not be observed.
Though this fear has the opposite motivation of the healthy citizens, who, knowing they are being
watched, are afraid to do wrong, it works on the same basic principle. That if one knows they are
being watched, it remains a constant consideration in their mind, regardless of the presence of an
observer, the fear will always be present.
The Panopticon, a prison described by Foucault, is a machine for dissociating the see/being seen
dyad: in the peripheric ring, one is totally seen, without ever seeing (321, Foucault). This literally
means that in the formation of the panopticon those who are being seen can not see one another
and the one who sees everything can never be seen. That is the most important tool of the
panopticon. Foucault makes this assumption about today s society by saying that we are always
being watched whether we know it or not. One always keeps an eye over their shoulder as a

Taking a Look at DHL
DHL was first found by Adrian Dalsey, Larry Hillblom and Robert Lynn in 1969 in San

company founders personally transported cargo documents from San Francisco to Honolulu by
plane thereby it significantly reduced waiting times in the harbor. Customers saved a great deal
of time as a result. The founding of DHL also represented the creation of a new sector of
industry: international air express service rapid transport of documents and cargo papers by
plane. The company started their expansion in 70 s, it started from Philippines (1971) then japan,
Hongkong, Singapore and Australia (1972) and later in Europe (1974), Latin America (1977), the
Middle east and Africa (1978). It added its parcel delivery in 1979. Between 1985 and 1988 DHL
doubles its customer base to more than half a million and quadruples the number of shipments it
handles. It s also the first express delivery company to anticipate the demand for total logistics

  • 5. Renewable And Alternative Energy Policies When discussing renewable or alternative energy policies, common ideas such as more solar and wind come to mind foremost without or with little thought when you hear renewable or alternative energies. However, policies for these can be quite alarming to someone who does not work or study the field. With Pennsylvania deregulating their the electricity sector in late 1996, alternative energies were certainly not the first thing when it came to their minds when trying to reduce their ever increasing electricity bills. Deregulation brought many ways for Pennsylvania to reduce costs, with still many more questions to be answered and in 2004, when the Alternative EnergyPortfolio Standards Act was passed, it was not just up to the Pennsylvania... As it stands, PUC s standards involve roughly an eighteen percent alternative energy resources by the year 2020 2021 (DSIRE). In that eighteen percent, eight percent should be comprised of tier one energies, which includes solar, wind, biomass, anaerobic decomposition, geothermal, ocean, fuel cells powered through renewables, small hydro, poultry litter incineration facilities, waste to energy facilities (Energy.Gov) and ten percent to be tier two energy usually, black liquor, blast furnace gas, distribution generation, hydro, municipal solid waste, other caste, waste coal, waste heat, wood /wood wastes solids (PUC 2013 Annual Report). In PUC s 2013 annual report, all standards are in compliance to their requirements for the 2013 year (PUC 4). That means of the seventeen qualified generating facilities, each are in compliance to their quarterly adjustments towards the goal of 18% alternative energies. The sun was dazzling his half open eyes, and he couldn t figure out what time it was. The door to his room was closed; the house was immersed in some sort of reckless silence. He slowly got out of his bed and approached the bench right next to the window. For a moment, he thought, he heard a tapping sound coming from the attic. Then again he heard the sound, only this time it seemed to be somewhat closer. He looked outside the window and saw a man going by the left side of the road. The object of the game is simple enough: to know what you want and get it. The moves of the game, by contrast, are infinite and complex, although they usually involve the manipulation or people and situations to your advantage. As for the rules, these are only discovered by playing the game to the end. Cause and Effect In the past century, government has expanded and become more involved in many new fields and aspects of life. One reason for this change is that government has more to because the population has increased by 600 percent over the past 100 years. More rules and regulations are needed to keep larger numbers of people living and working together peacefully. Another reason for government expansion is the growth of cities. The government has been forced to accept responsibility for the water supply, transportation, fire and police protection, and waste disposal in urban areas. South Korean War Analysis On September 28, 1950, the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Australian Regiment arrived in Pusan, South Korea in what would be Australia s major contribution in the war effort against invading forces from the north of the Korean peninsula, to the Korean People s Army (KPA). Following Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies endorsement of UNSC Resolution 82, this would see the beginning of a three year conflict in which Australia would commit 17,000 troops and suffer over 300 fatalities, only five years after the end of the Second World War, (AWM, 2016) . In what was predicated as Australia s commitment to providing peacekeeping troops for the United Nations to preserve the freedom of South Koreans, the Korean War would eventually play a fundamental role in solidifying Australia s shift in vital military alliances, in particular the post WWII development of the United Statesin surpassing the United Kingdom as a key protector of Australia. This is because east of the Dniester river there exists a hostile nation that s technically not there. This state, Transnistria, is one that technically does not exist, as it is one of many breakaway states in Europe that does exist in reality, but receives no international recognition. This is in despite of it being a de facto state. Boasting its own currency, passports, and government system(Mallonee). Ever since the region that broke away has maintained autonomy(Englund Transnistria ) and even has its own passports and currency that are not recognized beyond the small country s borders(Mallonee). Even in the Russian Federation Transnistria is not officially recognized as an independent nation, as stated by Mallonee, Russia has not formally recognized the breakaway state, and does not appear inclined to. . This minor nation is causing major ripples throughout the European community , and its significance is vast, despite its lack of recognition and size (Skordas). 1992 was an odd year; the Soviet Union had just collapsed and states in Eastern Europe were still deciding what they should do. One of these nations, Moldova, which broke away from the Soviet Union in 1989 had declared autonomy and sought to create a new state, free of Russian influence. This gave rise to Russian separatists in the eastern part of the country(Englund Fears ) who waged a small civil war in order to gain their independence. This war lead to the creation of Transnistria, which has maintained autonomy since the war s end in 1993(Englund Fears ). This autonomy is largely the result of the ceasefire implemented by Russia itself, which involves over 1,200 Russian soldiers to be stationed in Transnistria; this has been a major point of political tension in the region, even causing ... • 17. Analysis Of Tom Jones And Moll Flanders Essay The novels Tom Jones and Moll Flanders share a commonality, and showcase it in very similar ways. That commonality is the pursuit of wealth, but at the same time it is also a discrepancy, which is shown through how the story s title characters set out to obtain it, and their views regarding it. Before we can divulge what our characters view wealth as, we must grasp an understanding of the term itself. Merriam Webster s dictionary defines wealth as the value of all the property, possessions, and money that someone or something has. (Merriam Webster) Wealth can also be perceived in a spiritual sense, were one is content with their life and often has a strong relationship with God. For our purposes here, I think it is safe to assume that our authors mean to use wealth in its physical sense of possessions and dollar signs rather than enlightenment in their novels. Through this work we will examine with evidence why love and money is equitable in these two novels. We will also show why our protagonists are complete opposites of one another when talking about their wealth. We will first examine our novels characters and their pursuit of monetary gain, starting with Moll Flandersand it s protagonist of the same pseudonym. From the onset of the novelMoll is always lusting after the carefree lifestyle. As a young girl Moll refuses to work when she is living with her family. • 22. Catcalling And Social Media Street harassment, also know as catcalling, is an action that I hate the most. Street harassment is unwanted sayings or gestures that are targeted toward someone in specific based on sexual orientation or gender, and in this case, women. Catcalling can be verbal such as compliments, like, hey, baby. Catcalling can be physical, like groping a part of the body, and it can also be sexual remarks. When I see street harassmenton social media, like in a picture or a video, I feel uncomfortable, so I can t even imagine how some women feel when they have inappropriate comments thrown at them constantly. I think catcalling is the dumbest thing that anyone could have possibly thought of. Women don t deserve to get harassed on the street. If I have to get stopped on the street for a gross man to comment on my butt or follow me, it is not going to be a very good day. However as all actors seek to win the favor of great powers once more, the regional power, China is facing a complicated problem, the problem of having to supporting an ungrateful ally and supporting an ally that won t win, all involved in conflicts that can t be solved in the foreseeable future. China, despite having a personal benefit and loss in both, really has no idea what she is doing. A rivalry of ideology: The conflict between North and South Korea When we talk about the conflict between North and South Korea, we need to go back to the history of Korean Warin 1950(), which is also a part of the Cold war. During this conflict, there were also some international power interventions, the United States of America, USSR and PRC were all get involved to some extend. On June 25, 1950, the troops of Communist Kim II Sung crossed the dividing line and separate the Korean Peninsula into two separate parts between the South and the North because of South Korea s constant defiance (). This is also considered as the beginning of the Korean War as well as pulls the rivalry history of North and South Korea open. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the 20th century, as increased attention was paid to the demand of communication skills, grammar translation method which emphasizing knowledge of grammatical rules and translation activities was no longer effective (Richards Rodgers, 2001). In Australia, CLT is a preferred approach to be adopted for second language teaching (Fernandez, 2008). Communicative Language Teaching Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) is a method to teach modern languages that focuses on learning to communicate. In terms of principles of CLT, Kumaravadivelu (2006, p.118) asserts that language is a system for expressing meaning and the central purpose of language is communication . It seems that from the perspective of CLT, language is a tool for meaningful communication. I couldn t understand why this happened to me, why I had to let them play this game on their own. I ve competed with them since the fifth grade, and when they needed me the most, all I could do is stand on the sidelines and cheer. I hated this feeling of helplessness, but at the same time I knew there was little I could do. It was Senior year, a year that is believed to be filled with excitement and simplicity. For many high school students, Senior year is the last Hoorah and last opportunity to make memories with fellow classmates. For me, Senior year was hell. Coming from a small school that heavily relied on its Basketball program to give them a good name, attempting to be a part of other teams /programs led to extreme criticism. So being captain of the Football team didn t provide any perks. Being on the Football team predestined you as a thug , or even as a kid who frequently misbehaved and displayed no enthusiasm to work. That s how the entire school perceived us, faculty and all. Being a small group of about 32 players, half of which were predominantly underclassmen, we had something to prove. Our goal was to eradicate all misconceptions that we as football players faced. We wanted to make it clear to everyone that we were worthy enough to be adopted in a respectable manner when accounted for. Three weeks full of perspiration, blood and ... Implied consent is when you and your physician interact in which the consent is assumed, such as in a physical exam by your doctor. The long process is making sure the patient properly understands the risk and benefits that could possible happen during and after the treatment. It also protects prisoners from being a population that is turned to for experimental subjects in research. The poor population will easily give consent to a research experiment because they will easily get money due to their voluntary role in the experiment. Although the money compensation sounds great to the unfortunate populations, there is no concern, other than money, or thought put into the overall experiment outcomes. Coal is an incredible source of energy; it heats our houses and buildings, and also fuels stoves. You may often wonder where this extremely useful mineral comes from. Coal does not just appear; it needs to be mined through a process which results in our being able to utilize it. Coal mining is fairly inexpensive, is carried out on a large scale and can be mined in either underground or surface mines. Surface mining is the coal mining process that accounts for around 60% of the United States coal. It tends to be very efficient, with a single worker recovering up to 30 to 40 tons of coal in a day. Coal must first be separated form foreign materials, for example other minerals, to be considered useful to us. One way of doing this is called coal washing. The coal is first crushed into smaller pieces, and then a liquid is used to separate the coal based on density. Coal that is higher in density harbors more ash, so is left behind, whereas low density coal has contains little ash and is more desirable. Another process to separate coal from foreign materials is call dry shaling, which works without the use of liquid. After being separated, coal can be processed into coke, and eventually steel. When coal is transported, it can be by means of truck, train, or ship, and can go nearly anywhere. Truck and train transportation are the cheapest forms, particularly train if you are shipping a great amount, and ships are used for overseas transport. Most underground mines are located to the east of the Mississippi River; however there are some in Utah and Colorado. Now years later I am faced with the decision to buy a homesomeday like many in my generation and those looking to buy property again. If you have a partner then you will be able to expand your research with two different points of views and get more results. Just because someone says jump off a bridge into shallow water because you won t drown would you do it? The people on Wall Street and those in charge (unless psychic) can t predict the future. Determination of Concentration of Hydrochloric Acid and Phosphoric Acid in an Unknown HCl H3PO4 Mixture through Use of Potentiometric Titrations Andrea Byassee 8000 Utopia Parkway Department of Chemistry St. John s University Jamaica, NY 11439 andrea.byassee12@stjohns.edu Report Prepared for: Quantitative Chemical Analysis Professor Neil Jespersen Due Date: October 16, 2014 Submitted Date: October 20, 2014 ABSTRACT The purpose of this experiment was to determine if soft drinks manufactured by Coca Cola use phosphoric acid in their product formula. An analysis of their product concentrations of HCl and H3PO4 was performed using the potentiometric titration method, with a standardized 0.1002 M NaOH solution. The molarities of HCl and H3PO4 were determined by plotting the titration data, the first derivative, and the second derivative of this data. The results of our analysis of the three trials found the molarities of HCl to be 0.1232 M, 0.1232 M, and 0.1230 M, with a mean of 0.1231 M and an average deviation of 0.8 parts per thousand. We are 95% confident that for this set of data, the true mean lies within the range of 0.1228 and 0.1234 M. The molarities of H3PO4 were found to be 0.1709 M, 0.1706 M, and 0.1702 M, with a mean of 0.1706 M and an average deviation of 1 part per thousand. We are 95% confident that for this set of data, the true mean lies within the range of 0.1698 and 0.1714 M. These values compare well to literature values for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 54. Essay on Foucault Panopticism Panopticism by Michel Focault Works Cited Not Included Our society is not one of spectacle, but of surveillance; under the surface of images, one invests bodies in depth; behind the great abstraction of exchange, there continues the meticulous concrete training of useful forces; the circuits of communication are the supports of an accumulation and a centralization of knowledge; the play of signs defines the anchorages of power; it is not that the beautiful totality of the individual is amputated, repressed, altered by our social order, it is rather that the individual is carefully fabricated in it, according to a whole technique of forces and bodies. The persons with the plague (lepers were included in this group) were always observed to account for their presence. These people were supposed to be present at their windows for attendance. Where they not present at the time, they were marked as dead. Their family would be removed, the house would be cleaned out, perfumed, and then, a mere four hours later, people would move back in. Obviously, the fear of not being observed would be strong in this situation, a direct result of the drastic measures taken once someone s presence could not be observed. Though this fear has the opposite motivation of the healthy citizens, who, knowing they are being watched, are afraid to do wrong, it works on the same basic principle. That if one knows they are being watched, it remains a constant consideration in their mind, regardless of the presence of an observer, the fear will always be present. The Panopticon, a prison described by Foucault, is a machine for dissociating the see/being seen dyad: in the peripheric ring, one is totally seen, without ever seeing (321, Foucault). This literally means that in the formation of the panopticon those who are being seen can not see one another and the one who sees everything can never be seen. That is the most important tool of the panopticon. Foucault makes this assumption about today s society by saying that we are always being watched whether we know it or not. One always keeps an eye over their shoulder as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
