ENEC HPS presented a new river turbine design called the ENEC HPS turbine. The turbine uses blades attached to crankshafts that act as pistons in cylinders to transmit kinetic energy from flowing water to a generator via a crankshaft. Changing the blade positions allows for higher utilization of water's kinetic energy. A 5MW system uses 6 blades wrapped around each other in a 360 degree pattern. Support girders are needed due to flexing and twisting forces from the long crankshaft. The central girder can be attached to the generator to shift the center of gravity.
