This document summarizes a seminar on learning to prophesy. The seminar is led by Marco Lafebre and takes place over 6 weeks. During the seminar, participants will learn definitions of prophecy, what prophecy involves based on scripture passages, and have opportunities to practice prophesying in small groups. Participants are encouraged to read Isaiah 61 and journal on how they can encourage others as prophets. The next session will cover characteristics of prophecy and related scriptures, and include new activations for prophesying.

So get to know the other members of the group
as you will be interacting with them.
Remember: you are here to learn.
The best way to learn is practicing.
So put off your embarrassment or pride or anything
that may try to tell you that you cannot do it.

5. Some definitions and ideas
 Before learning how to prophesy, lets understand what
really is the act of prophecy.
 Lets see some dictionary definitions.
 What the bible say about prophecy.
 And then let’s break those ideas down so we would be
able to understand what prophecy is.

definitions for prophecy
 Prophecy /ˈprɒfɪsɪ/ noun (pl) -cies
 1. a message of divine truth revealing God's will
the act of uttering such a message
 2. a prediction or guess
 3. the function, activity, or charismatic endowment of
a prophet or prophets

7. Prophecy in the Bible
 Or prediction, was one of the functions of
the prophet. It has been defined as a
"miracle of knowledge, a declaration or
description or representation of something
future, beyond the power of human sagacity
to foresee, discern, or conjecture."
 British Dictionary

8. Prophecy in the Bible
 The great prediction which runs like a
golden thread through the whole contents
of the Old Testament is that regarding the
coming and work of the Messiah; and the
great use of prophecy was to perpetuate
faith in his coming, and to prepare the world
for that event.

3 But he who prophesies speaks
edification and exhortation and
comfort to men.

10. What is prophecy?
 Prophecy is simply: edifying, exhorting and
comforting people.
 Prophecy is about restoring the image of God
in people.
 Prophecy is simply showing people what God
has for them.
 Prophecy is telling people how God sees
them.
 Prophecy is waking up in people
passion for God.
 Prophecy is setting the captives free.

11. What is prophecy?
 Prophecy is removing ashes and covering people
with the mantle of joy.
 Prophecy is bringing healing to people.
 Prophecy is a communication of Spirit to spirit.
 Prophecy comes from the desire to love people;
from the desire to encourage and to bless them.
 Prophecy comes in a spontaneous way, because
you are becoming more and more Christ centered.

12. What is in the heart of God?

13. God’s heart is full of love as
He himself is Love.
 1 John 4:8 (NIV)
 8 Whoever does not love does not know God,
because God is love.

 1 John 4:16 (NIV)
 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and
God in them.

14. God’s heart is full of love as
He himself is Love.
 1 Corinthians 2:9 (NKJV)
 9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man The things
which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

15. God’s heart is full of love as
He himself is Love.
 God is the greatest encourager.
 The bible is full of promises of forgiveness, blessings,
help and assistance.
 His love for us is:
 unlimited,
 unconditional,
 unending.
 His plan for us is way beyond our wildest dreams.

What is filling our hearts?
 Luke 6:45 (NKJV)
 45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart
brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil
treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of
the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
 Proverbs 16:23 (NIV)
 23 The hearts of the wise make their mouths
prudent, and their lips promote instruction.

17. God’s heart is filled with love!
What is filling our hearts?
 Proverbs 4:23 (NKJV)
 23 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of
it spring the issues of life.
 Isaiah 32:6 (NKJV)
 6 For the foolish person will speak foolishness,
And his heart will work iniquity:
To practice ungodliness,
To utter error against the LORD,
To keep the hungry unsatisfied,
And he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

18. When we are
in love with God
 We are filled with Him,
 We are filled with His love to an overflowing point,
 Then we cannot avoid pouring out His love to people
around us.

 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful
for teaching, rebuking, correcting and
training in righteousness, 17 so that the
servant of God[a]may be thoroughly
equipped for every good work.

 2 The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him,
The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The Spirit of counsel and might,

the LORD.

 4 “The Lord GOD has given Me
The tongue of the learned,
That I should know how to speak
A word in season to him who is weary.
He awakens Me morning by morning,
He awakens My ear
To hear as the learned.
5 The Lord GOD has opened My ear;
And I was not rebellious,
Nor did I turn away.

23. Isaiah 59:21 (NKJV)
 21 “As for Me,” says the LORD, “this is My covenant with
them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words
which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from
your mouth, nor from the mouth of your
descendants, nor from the mouth of your
descendants’ descendants,” says the LORD, “from
this time and forevermore.”

 18 “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.”

25.  My friend,
 God is working in you, bringing you to a point where
you will be able to experience the fullness of His love
and His power. He is blessing you Now! Don’t wait for
tomorrow or next month, accept your blessing now.
Get ready because as our church is proclaiming, THIS
IS THE TIME! This is a year where everything that you
have lost, everything that the enemy took away from
you, is coming back to you. God is returning back to
you everything. Not just that; He is recompensing you
double for your lost, for your pain, for your shame, for
the rejection, isolation and embarrassment. See? the
restitution is both in the spiritual and in the natural
realms. So that you can be a display of the love of God.

26. Now when at home, go to your
bible and open it on the book of
the prophet Isaiah chapter 61,
read it and meditate on it
That is a good manual to
become a Prophet of the Lord.

27. Prophetic nuggets.
 The most important in prophesying is believing what
the word of the Lord says for the benefit of our lives.
 It’s wonderful to prophesy for others, but it is very
important to prophesy for our own welfare, which
affects your family and serve as a display of the
faithfulness of God.
 The most you do this, the more your faith and
authority on the word of God will increase.

28. Prophetic Activation, Session 1
 Turn your prayer into prophecy.
 In groups of three:
 Person # 1
 Present to God your need in prayer. (Phil. 4: 5-7)
 Person #2
 Based in a paragraph of scripture, you prophesy that
the petition is granted. (Matt. 21:22).
 Person #3
 You declare the fulfilment of the word of God in the
live of the petitioner. (Psalm 21:2)

 Read Chapter 61 of the book of the Prophet Isaiah, this
is a manual to become a prophet of the Lord.
 What the Lord is revealing to you on this chapter?
 To whom this word is addressed to?
 Can you see yourself represented in anyone of these
personages?
