4. Prologue
Sports hobbyists do have a Personal Best (PB). A PB is the best time or score achieved by the individual
in any particular sporting event. So, when the Lord Jesus Christ admonished the disciples to pray at
least one hour (Mathew 26:40), could He thereon have enjoined us to attain 1hour PB in prayers?
This slides deck has example prayer points created to help you pursue a 1hour personal best in prayers.
Praying the lot at one prayer point for a couple of minutes will equate to 1hour praying at a sitting. For
a full list of the prayer points plus extras, get the published booklet from Amazon or wherever else
good books are sold! That said, the ‘how’ of praying is important.
Prayer can be chanted as well as sung or spoken provided the purposes, subjects, heart’s motives, and
mindfulness in the chanting are biblically righteous. Biblical righteousness entails being bornagain. If
you’re unsure what it is to be bornagain, please skip to the Epilogue section of this booklet before
getting on with the actual prayers.

11. Epilogue – ABC of becoming bornagain
• A = Accept that God loves you (Psalm 100:5, 1John 3:16). You’re God’s heartthrob, and
God is intent for a loving relationship with you. His love is proven by Jesus Christ’s
gruesome sacrificial death on the cross of Calvary. Accept, also, that you’ve hitherto
lived sinfully. It is little use accepting that God is love without also accepting we are
sinners (Romans 3:23).
• B = Believe that Jesus died for you (1 John 1:9; 1 John 4:9-10, Rom 5:8) so your sins can be
atoned by His shed Blood. According to the Bible; “… there is no remission of sin without
the shedding of blood” (Hebrews 9:22).
• C = Confess your sins and the decision to repent. Sincerely ask for God’s forgiveness and
His divine enablement to personally devote your life onwards to Jesus Christ. This
requires speaking out affirmatively in prayers and believing same with your heart.

12. Epilogue – lifestyle tweaks for a bornagain Christian
When you’re bornagain, a few lifestyle tweaks are essential to make. These includes;
•Find a living church in which you can effectively grow in grace until when Jesus Christ
returns (Acts 1:10-11).
•Next is prayers. Praying is for a Christian as necessary as breathing is in physical life.
Think of whales and such sea mammals which come up for gulps of fresh breath of air every
so often. It’s similar with praying – it’s how you spiritually come up above the sea of
carnality for spiritual respiration. You may sooner die as a Christian, albeit metaphorically,
if you don’t engage in effective regular prayers.
•Another is Bible studies. Cultivate a habit of reading and studying the Bible with constant
expectation of hearing God speak to you from out of the pages of Scriptures.
