• Involved in the preparation of a national report on Waste Water in Ireland, addressing the level of
treatment provided, effluent quality, compliance with the Urban Waste Water Discharge Authorisation
requirements of EU Directives and the enforcement of waste water discharge licences issued by the
EPA. This involved the collation of data from 34 Local Authorities.
• Reported performance back to Local Authorities through written reports on an individual basis and on
a national basis through workshops involving presentations showing common errors and areas for
improvement.
• I was involved in the design, trial and roll out of the Sewer Integrity Risk Assessment Tool for Local
Authorities, the first of its kind in Europe.
• I assisted in the update and development of the Environmental Enforcement Network webpages by
organising the information on the web-site to improve search capabilities across the water, waste and
air themes. This website is used by Local Authorities to determine and carry out their environmental
functions.

7. SKILLS AND ACHIEVEMENTS:
Communication
I have obtained excellent communication skills through presentations in class.
Also through each of my jobs I have improved my interaction and would consider myself
experienced with liaising with others.
Team Work
Coursework was dependent upon participation and motivation of project groups, which have
successfully improved my negotiation and persuasion skills.
Through my part-time work I have had experience of working as part of a large team but have
proved capable of working on my own initiative and I have the ability to take charge of a
situation.
Experience of working within a team-based culture involved planning, organisation, co-
ordination and commitment.
Work Skills
Working in Crawfords shop taught me to find solutions to customer problems and deal with them
in a friendly and efficient manner.
My time keeping skills I feel are very good after an eight month period of working with the ESB
in Moneypoint as part of my college placement.
While working with the ESB in Moneypoint I gained a good working Knowledge of ISO 14001,
and also in working with the EPA in relation of presentation of data and adherence to
protocol.
I Have a FAS Safe Pass, I also have a full clean drivers license.
Computing
I have a good working knowledge of several word processing packages including Microsoft
Word, Excel spreadsheets and the Internet. I also have my ECDL qualification
I am capable of poster design as I had much time to develop this skill while on my placement.
