The EMU Platform was developed by Mobile Systems Research Labs in cooperation with an educational center for visually impaired children. It provides teachers with tools to support education for children with visual impairments, from mild issues to blindness. The platform includes applications like 3DSound, which uses sound recognition and location to help those with significant vision loss interact with their environment, and DotPaint, which allows visually impaired children to express themselves through colorful virtual art and helps teachers assess students' development.

1. EMU Platform
Educational Mobile User Platform is a set of teaching tools developed at Mobile Systems Research
Labs with cooperation with Training and Educational Centre for Blind and Visually Impaired
Children in Owinska. Thanks to this collaboration a set of applications has been developed which
aids visually impaired children.
With use of the newest computer and audiovisual technology EMU Platform allows to support
education and training of children with various eye problems. The teachers receive a set of tools
that improve work efficiency regardless of child’s conditions – ranging from light problems like
disfigurement of images, through partial atrophy of sight to blindness.
3DSound
This program has been developed for people with the biggest eyesight problems. This applications’
aim is to help them cope with surrounding world. It is done in three stages. First one bases on sound
recognition, the second one helps to pick up a desired sound from a mix of sounds. And the last
stage teaches to determine location of the sound sources.

2. DotPaint
This application has been developed in order to introduce visually impaired children to the world of
colorful pictures. With the use of newest technologies pupils can express their feelings on virtual
canvas. This gives tutors a powerful tool to carefully analyze their pupils’ conditions. Also it allows
to track the history of pictures which shows how the healing is progressing and how the child has
improved.
