2. WHAT IS ?
It is a kind of matter composed of atoms of the same class
3. NATURE OR
ARTIFICIALLY
Some elements found in nature and obtained from artificially
Examples of natural elements
Oxygen , Hydrogen , Lithium , etc.
Examples of artificial elements
Rutherfordio , Dubnium , Seaborgium , Bohrium , etc.
4. GROUPS
There are 4 types of groups: Alkali metals, halogens,
transitional metals and noble gases.
5. NOBLE GASES
The noble gases are the chemical elements in group 18 of the
periodic table. They are the most stable to have the maximum
number of valence electrons
7. ALKALI METALS
The alkali metals, found in group 1 of the periodic table, are very
reactive metals that do not occur freely in nature. These metals
have only one electron in their outer shell
8. TRANSITION METALS
There are a number of elements that are classified as transition
metals. They occupy columns 3 through 12 of the periodic table.
9. VALENCE ELECTRONS
The nunber of electrons in the outermost electron orbit.
Valence electrons do not equal the number protons.
