The document discusses various multimedia technologies used in adult education, including videos, audio, PowerPoint presentations, projectors, computer systems, and DVD ROMs. It outlines the key advantages and disadvantages of each technology. Projectors allow for large displays and space savings but require low light and separate speakers. Computer systems provide high-speed data processing but rely on high-quality input data and programming. DVD ROMs offer greater storage capacity than CD ROMs but have slower access rates.

White Paper: Driving the New Era of Immersive Experiences describes how full immersion is achieved by simultaneously focusing on the broader dimensions of visual quality, sound quality, and intuitive interactions. The optimal way to enhance these broader dimensions requires an end-to-end approach, heterogeneous computing, and utilizing cognitive technologies.

2. The use of Multi-media in Adult
Education
The use of multi-media in adult education
is important in today society. These multi-
media that we use in education areas are:
1. Videos
2. Audio
3. Powerpoint Presentation
We use these when creating videos, audio
and presentation.
5. The projector display the images or videos of
what a computer system has. They are
portable, the projector is to be used in areas
where the lights can't be completely dimmed,
brightness may be the most important feature
and Resolution, which largely defines picture
quality, will likely be more important to
somebody looking for a home-theater
projector than somebody purchasing a
projector for a classroom or business setting.
6. Advantages of a Projector
1. Largest possible picture. Front projectors
generate the biggest possible image size. You can
use them to create the very large screen experience
of a commercial movie theater in your own home. In
theory, actual image size can go up to 300"
diagonal or more.
2. Smaller images a great option also. Perhaps you
don't want a huge image, or maybe you don't have
space for one. If this is the case, a projector can be
used to throw a smaller image, say about 60"
diagonal. So it can serve as an inexpensive
substitute for a 60" plasma TV.
7. 3. Low cost. Believe it or not, a front projector
can be the least expensive alternative for big
screen video in your home. Some projectors built
for dedicated home theater have now dropped
below $1,000, making them much less expensive
than flatscreen TVs or rear-projection TVs.
4. Space saving. A small projector that is
mounted on a coffee table, a rear shelf or
bookcase, or mounted on a ceiling, takes up no
floorspace in the room. When not operating, it is
largely invisible.
8. Disadvantages of a
Projector
1. Light Can Play Spoilsport: A projector
works best when operated in low light
conditions as the pictures produced are
clearer and brighter.
2. Costly Maintenance: The maintenance
cost of home theatre projectors is often
on the higher side than that of a LCD
television. The lamp of a projector needs
to be replaced occasionally, depending on
your usage and the projector model.
9. 3. Separate Speakers Required: A movie
projectors either has no audio of its own
or has very little sound that is inadequate if
you want to watch movies or television
programs. Therefore, setting up home
theatre projectors requires purchasing a
separate audio system.
11. A computer is an electronic device that
manipulates information, or data. It has the
ability to store, retrieve, and process data.
You can use a computer to type documents,
send email, and browse the Web. You can
also use it to handle spreadsheets,
accounting, database management,
presentations, games, and more. High speed,
accuracy large storage capacity, high
reliability and versatility are some of the
important features of computers.
12. Advantages of a computer
system
1. Computers makes it possible to receive, supply and
process large volumes of data at very high speed.
2. Computer reduces the cost of all data related
operations including, input, output, storage,
processing, and transmission.
3. Computer greatly improves the speed of data input,
output, processing, and transmission.
4. Computer ensures consistent and error free
processing of data. However it should be noted the
error free processing is subject to correct feeding of
data and correct programming.
13. Disadvantages of a computer
system
1. Computer is highly dependent on the
quality of input data fed to it. Though
computers are very fast in tasks that are
pre-programmed, it lake the ability of
human brain to detect and correct errors
that it is not specifically programmed to
do.
2. The task of programming a computer for a
computer application is very costly and
time consuming. This reduces the utility of
computers for applications that are non-
repetitive.
15. A Digital Versatile Disc - Read Only Memory,
or DVD-ROM, is a media storage disk that
closely resembles a CD or compact disc. The
major difference is that the DVD is formatted
to hold far more data. A CD commonly has a
capacity of 650 megabytes, while the smallest
capacity DVD can store about seven times
more data, or 4.38 gigabytes (GB). The
features of a DVD-ROM players is that it can
play old CD-ROMs, CD-I disks, and video
CDs, as well as new DVD-ROMs. Newer
DVD players can also read CD-R disks.
16. Advantages of a DVD ROM
1. Greater capacity: With 4.7 gigabytes of storage capacityon a
single layer and 8.4 gigabytes on a dual-layer disc, DVD-ROM
offers more than 12 times the capacity of CD-ROM. When
information is stored on both sides of the disk a single disk can
hold up to 17 gigabytes, which is equal to 26 CD-ROM or
12,000 floppies.
2.
Faster data transfer: A basic DVD-ROM drive offers variable
data transfer rate at an average rate of 1, 108 kilobytes per
second.
3.
Flexibility: DVD will allow greater use and flexibility of Data
Warehousing than ever before possible. One manufacturer
has already developed a 100 disk juke box for DVD that can
store 800 gig of data in a box only 2 x 2
17. 4. Better Video: Because DVD-ROM has
greater storage capacity and a faster data
transfer rate than CD-ROM, it is possible
to deliver up to full length movies on a
one-sided disk using
compression/decompression that yields
broadcast quality video and stereo sound
tracks for use in MS-DOS /Windows 3.x.
Other operating systems supply their own
ATAPI CD-ROM device drivers
18. Disadvantages of a DVD
ROM
1. Although DVD ROMs are becoming more popular
each day, this technology is not without its
disadvantages. If you’re planning to buy a new
computer or upgrade your current system in the
near future, it’s important to understand both the
positive and negative aspects of this technology.
2. 2. A DVD ROM is a compact disc that can hold a
minimum of 4.7 GB of movies, music, text, or
images, although some discs can hold up to 17 GB
of information. Even though movies from the local
video store are often referred to simply as DVDs,
they are actually DVD ROM discs. Access rates for
these devices range from 600 Kbps to 1.3 Mbps.
