What questions do you have about your
schedule?
Comment on this post with your questions!
At 7:45, your dorm parent will wake you up to get ready for camp. If you
are already awake, you can read, write, or draw in your room. You may
not leave your room (except to use the bathroom) before 7:45.
You might shower at this time. You will need to get dressed, brush your
teeth, and clean your room. You might also need to pack a bag for camp
with your swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, and anything else you might need.

You check out of the dorm with the other students when your
dorm parent tells you it is time to go. It’s important to always
say “I’m checking out!” to your dorm parent so he or she
knows where you are.

One of our school chefs, Ann, will be waiting for us
in the dining hall at Bement House with a typical
American breakfast before the camp day.
Breakfasts usually involve fruit, cereal, toast, eggs,
yogurt, milk, juice, and other foods.

Your classes will be held in the Kittredge Building.
There are two teachers in the ELAC program. They
will work with you on reading, writing, speaking, and
listening in English.

Every day, Ann will make a hot lunch that includes
a main meal, salad, fruit, a drink, and dessert.

You will have a choice of a few different activities to
participate in for this hour. You will learn about these
choices during your first day of classes.

During this time, you will play games, go on hikes, do
arts and crafts activities, and more. If the weather is
nice, you will also be able to go swimming in our
school pool. All of these activities will be done with the
American campers.

During free time in the dorm, you may play outside or
inside, read, write, draw or do other crafts, practice a
musical instrument, play board games, use the dorm
computer, shower, call home using the dorm phone or
your own cell phone, or watch TV.

Every Monday evening, your dorm parents will take you
to see a play. Each week, the play is different, but it is
always based on a book you read in class during the
week. You will watch the play and have a snack at the
theater, and then drive back to campus.

Quiet time is the thirty minutes before lights out. During this time, you get
ready for bed by getting into your pajamas, brushing your teeth, packing a
bag for camp, reading, writing in a journal, or other quiet activities. You
must be in your room or the bathroom during quiet time.
For students ages 7 to 9, quiet time is at 8:30 and lights out is at 9:00. For
students ages 10 to 13, quiet time is at 9:00 and lights out is at 9:30.

For this hour, you will work with teachers who specialize
in colonial American history. They will teach you about the
history of New England, and especially Deerfield. To truly
experience this history, you will do the same kind of
activities that children your age would have done
hundreds of years ago!
