Eduserv provides cloud and IT services to public sector and nonprofit organizations. They operate a secure, UK-based data center and offer private, community, and secure cloud options as well as professional services. Their services help customers reduce costs, improve security and flexibility, and focus on their missions rather than IT infrastructure. They take a long-term partnership approach to help customers adopt cloud technologies and migrate applications in a pragmatic manner.
The Expedient public cloud offers the ability to connect and share your environment while ensuring data is housed in an enterprise-class data center, monitored 24x7x365. This solution is ideal for computing scalability and data storage while minimizing capital expense. Your cloud environment is contained in its own secure virtualized space with logical data segmentation, and N+2 physical redundancy.
Cloud Computing Principles and Paradigms: 2 migration into a cloudMajid Hajibaba
migration of an application into the cloud can happen in one of several ways: Either the application is clean and independent, so it runs as is; or perhaps some degree of code needs to be modified and adapted; or the design (and therefore the code) needs to be first migrated into the cloud computing service environment;
In fact, the migration industry thrives on these custom and proprietary best practices. Many of these best practices are specialized at the level of the components of an enterprise application—like migrating application servers or the enterprise databases.
Catalog Management in the Cloud: Two Years Intrail001
Presentation given at the Catalog Management Interest Group, ALA Annual Conference, June 25, 2016 by Stacie Traill and Betsy Friesen (University of Minnesota)
The libraries of the University of Minnesota system were early adopters of Ex Libris's Alma system, migrating in late 2013. In the two and a half years since migration, systems and metadata staff have learned much about the differences between managing a cloud-based, multi-tenant ILS and a locally-hosted server-based ILS. Presenters will discuss some of these differences, along with issues they faced in adopting a new system early in its development cycle. In addition, they will provide an overview of the highlights, challenges, and ongoing evolution of Alma's catalog management tools and functionality (such as authority control and batch processing capabilities).
Cloud Adoption - Journey of IT Service ManagementCaroline Hsieh
Cloud computing represents great deal of opportunities for business and IT. The rapid adoption, flexibility, and elasticity of cloud computing have enabled companies to realize benefits such as time to market and cost saving. However, cloud computing presents various challenges for IT service management and increases the company’s security risk exposures. A well structured cloud service management model will enable the company to reap the benefits of cloud while minimizing the risk exposure for the company. This presentation will cover topics on:
• Governance structure for cloud solutions.
• Architecture strategies to identify cloud capabilities to enable business.
• Selection criteria for preferred cloud vendors based on architecture, legal, security, and IT operations categories.
• Risk management process of cloud solutions.
• Service management for cloud computing following ITIL model.
• Executive endorsement and buy in.

The UK Access Management Federation has been successful in supporting the collaboration, access and sharing of services between UK organisations for many years now. To access (or offer) a range services outside the UK or allow the participation of institutions in other countries has required the creation of bilateral agreements or joining multiple federations. This is a solution which doesn't scale and increases the administrative burden of IdPs, SPs and the Federation!
eduGAIN, launched in April 2011, enabling the trustworthy exchange of information between participating organisations via their home identity federation. This presentation will provide a status update on eduGAIN, examples on how institutions and services are supporting interfederation and what lessons have we learnt and need to change to truly provide a Global Authentication INfrastructure.

Momentum for the adoption of cloud services continues to grow in the public sector as services mature and agencies experience in buying and using cloud services grows. As agencies steadily incorporate various cloud components into their environment, it is clear that public sector organisations are starting to realise the benefits of cloud. In fact if one where creating a “greenfield” service, “in the cloud” would be the default approach. However the reality is that most institutions are not in this position. Most have to manage a legacy environment that comprises aging technology, duplicate, inefficient and inconsistent business processes. Developing and implementing a staged migration to cloud will be pivotal when determining whether the “as-a-service” promise facilitates innovation or undermines organisational integrity

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
