2. PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION
There exist preschool education institutions which present different education
possibilities for all children between age 0-6. These institutions may be found
as private institutions as well as “infant school” within state schools.
Enrolments for preschool education begin from third week of June. Enrolments
are actualized only over e-school system and no certificate is requested for
enrolments. For enrolment of foreign children to preschool education
institutions, presence of residence permit is needed. Enrolments of the foreign
children whose application continue and have temporary identity number are
arranged based on the information in their passports or residence permits.
Each child who complete 36 months and does not turn 66 months can enroll to
preschool education institutions. Primary school enrolments of the children who
complete 66 months and arrive primary school period may be delayed upon
health reports or written request of parent and they are entitled to enroll with
priority to preschool education institutions. Especially in recent years, Turkey
has given necessary importance to preschool education and started to obtain
positive effects of early childhood education. Because early childhood
education is an important education stage which offers contribution not only to
children but also family, society, economy and contemporary development.
Mother Child Education Foundation (AÇEV) which is quite efficient on this
object in Turkey deduces on positive effect of early period education as follows
more productive children in the long run, more efficient in problem solving,
creative, advanced level development in language, mental, physical and social
skills, decrease in social crimes increase of education quality and
characteristics, rise in number of qualified and skilled personnel in society, may
only become possible with preschool education. Early education period in
Turkey starts at age 5 for each child. However, each child who turns age 3 may
participate in preschool education programs in private education institutions.
State also makes supporting assistance at certain amounts to families for

3. BASIC SECONDARY
EDUCATION
Secondary education (High School) Students who receive primary education take various exams at the end of this stage
and are placed in the high schools listed in the preference lists in line with their scores. Students in Turkey generally;
They prefer Science, Anatolian, Vocational, Imam Hatip and Evening high schools. Anatolian and Science high schools are
generally preferred by students who dream of universities and want to continue their education life in higher education
institutions. Vocational high schools are institutions where students who want to gain competence in a specific field and
want to enter business life go as soon as possible and provide education on training individuals who are professionally
equipped. Evening high schools, on the other hand, are institutions where classes are given in the evening, where
people who work in a job and do not have time to receive formal education go. Besides the many private high schools in
the state gives Turkey a secondary school education. These institutions offer scholarships to students with high scores
while accepting students to their high schools. In addition, many parents prefer these institutions because private
schools have high university placement rates. Thanks to the diversity of opportunities offered to students by private
schools, students in these institutions are able to discover themselves more easily, and they are more advantageous
than students studying in public schools in terms of developing their interests and abilities.

4. EVALUATION OF
STUDENTS
The following principles are observed in the measurement and evaluation of student achievement in
primary education institutions;
The academic year consists of two complementary semesters in terms of measurement and
evaluation.
In the measurement and evaluation of success, the objectives and gains specified in the curriculum are
taken as basis. According to the characteristics of the outcome to be measured, the measurement and
evaluation principles in the curriculum of the relevant course are followed.
For students who continue their education through mainstreaming; An individualized education
program (BEP) is prepared by the Individualized Education Program Development Unit and the
achievements of these students are evaluated according to the objectives of this program.
Students' success in primary school 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades; It is determined according to the
measurement and evaluation principles specified in the curriculum and their participation in the lesson
activities carried out under the guidance of the teacher considering their development levels. It is
shown in the report as "very good", "good" and "should be improved".
Student success in the 4th grade of primary school; It is evaluated according to the scores obtained
from exams and participation in course activities.
Students' success in middle school and imam-hatip secondary schools; The exams are evaluated
according to the scores obtained from participation in course activities and project work, if any.
Term point, year-end score and year-end success score are determined over 100 points in primary
school 4th grade, middle school and imam-hatip middle school. In the 100 points system, points from
0-44.99 are considered unsuccessful, scores of 45.00 and above are considered successful.

5. ORGANISATION OF
THE SCHOOL YEAR
According to the Ministry of National Education, the
academic year begins on August 31 and ends on June
18, but this year, there have been many changes in
education periods due to the covid-19 disease.
