Universal design seeks to make products and services accessible to all people regardless of ability. In education, universal design is used to increase the versatility of curriculum and classrooms to allow all students fair access to resources. By designing classrooms to be more functional and equitable, it provides individual students more opportunities to learn while assisting teachers in engaging students. However, addressing the diverse needs of students can be complex depending on grade level and standards, and the costs associated may slow how schools implement universal designs.

When designing schools and classrooms, we often don’t realize how heavily our ideas are influenced by the assumptions and mental models we have about learning and education. In this this webinar, Dr. Tim Hudson will explore some of these hidden assumptions and help us imagine the full implications of blended learning that ensures high achievement for all students.
The norm for pedagogical situations in the twenty-first century in education is digitization. After the COVID19 pandemic lockdown, the use of blended learning models at universities has become crucial. The use of teaching in the classroom, particularly in higher education, enhances student learning. In order to build effective teaching-learning, blended learning places learners in a new learning environment based on technology. The purpose of the current study is to figure out the viability of embracing a blended learning method in learning science course at the secondary school level. The current study has been conducted using a quasi-experimental design. The University of Abuja's Centre for Distance Learning and Continuous Education (CDL & CE) recruited 120 undergraduate students for this study. The Blended Models Achievement Test (BMAT) and Blended Models Retention Test were the instruments used for data gathering (BMRT). The experimental groups' students were instructed using blended learning methods for eight weeks. The three tests, including the pre-test, post-test I, and post-test II, were given to six groups. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 26 was utilized to assess the hypotheses and provide response to the research questions with mean score, standard variation and error, while the inferential statistics utilized related samples t-test at level of significant of 0.05. Results showed a significant difference between the mean pre- and post-test achievement and retention capacity of students who were receiving science instruction through blended learning. The study came to the conclusion that learners' achievement and retention in science are significantly improved by blended learning models. It is recommended that blended learning approaches be utilized for teaching the sciences because they improve the learner’s retention and academic performance.

Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. In education, universal design is used to increase the
versatility and usefulness of curriculum and of the traditional
classroom.
In this way, students will be allowed to operate on fair terms
and all be allowed to access all of the same resources that
their peers use.
Furthermore, teachers will be able to manage their rooms
much more effectively, with the help of efficient and simple
technologies that will reduce the workload on students to
complete tasks.
4. Utilizing Design
With increased functionality, the classroom becomes a
symbol of equity and a common resource for all students.
This, in turn, provides the individual student with increased
resources to create and learn, as well as assist the teacher in
their endeavor to engage and inspire their pupils.
Thus, the cost and setback of attending to the various
discrepancies of predisposed skill with the students might
actually be addressed; although those who need higher
echelon challenges to keep them engaged might need
additional assistance.
5. Problematic Deciphering
Innate problems related to introducing a more ‘equitable’
classroom relate to complexity of addressing diverse needs.
Depending on the grade level and standards set for
students, the needs of one student may greatly differ from
that of another.
It is not so much the need to address differences both
physically and mentally of students but the cost associated
that may slow how schools respond to these challenges.
