Editor's Notes
Given this context, we propose a social enterprise that is a hybrid between what has been tried and true in the field of pedagogy and other diverse fields as well as something that is innovative in its delivery as well as financing. We bring to you – Learning in Motion– a mobile bus-based platform for providing early childhood education is convenient for children and parents alikecoems right to the slums! Imagine you are in living in This is something that will be inexpensive for parents living in slums, provide high-quality early childhood education for children in a Montessori fashion and will come right to the slums in itself reducing the time, access and safety barrier of travelling long distances. How does it work? We’ve seen the use of mobile clinics to deliver health care services in low-income settings in the US, Canada, India, Nigeria and other countries all around the world! It’s been really effective in improving rates of immunization, maternal health services and other health care concerns. Part of the reason why it’s been successful is that it has been a hub of action and there has been community buy in. People trust these initiatives more when they are happening in the community itself – there is a greater chance of uptake. And with this social enterprise, there is the hope for gaining more than just community buy-in – we really see it is as a tool for community development – by delivering high quality education we will not only educate children and put them on the path to success, we’ll be able to build local capacity of potential teachers in the community to do the same. In order to incentivize parents to send their children to our school we will be implementing reverse u We can touch on this aspect in greater detail in the Q & A.
