This document defines film editing techniques like montage, clips, continuity, and established shots. It also discusses rendering footage together and transitioning between shots. An activity is described where close-up shots of villagers' reactions are edited together faster as a sergeant arrives in the village, showing their expressions and the start of a fight through a series of shots composed in different ways.
An Overview of Cinematography with types of Shooting Methods and Type of shots
Shooting Method
The master scene -A master shot is a film recording of an entire dramatized scene, from start to finish , from an angle that keeps all the players in view.
Coverage - Coverage is done after the master scene. As per the master shot, closeup, mid shots are taken.
In-one -This just means the entire scene in one continuous shot.
Pov — A point of view shot is a short film scene that shows what a character (the subject) is looking at (represented through the camera). It is usually established by being positioned between a shot of a character looking at something, and a shot showing the character's reaction (see shot reverse shot).
Montage — the production of a rapid succession of images in a motion picture to illustrate an association of ideas
Overlapping - a scene where the actor is opening his house door, entering his home, walking to the TV, opening it and sits on his couch. You will shoot him opening the door and getting inside the house in one angle, then you want to shoot him walking to the TV in a different angle, so you tell the actor to stop, change the angle and now you will shoot him walking towards the TV, but the actor will to go a few steps backwards and start the shot from the part of stepping inside the house, so you will have that action in both angles.
The Shots
Wide Shot - In this a complete wide shot is taken for establishing the venue. The wide shot is any frame that encompasses the entire scene.
Establishing shot - The establishing shot is usually a wide shot. It is the opening shot of a scene that tells us where we are.
Cutaways - shots that are used to cut away from the main action in a scene to control pace and mood
Inserts- shots that focus on a particular part of a larger scene a watch, a clock, etc..
Connecting shots- Helps to connect two shots through wide shots and closeups
Pickups - Its a type of re-shoot or just a small part which is needed.
Transitional shots- Connecting two different shots and giving a smooth shift from one scene to another
The master scene -A master shot is a film recording of an entire dramatized scene, from start to finish , from an angle that keeps all the players in view.
Coverage - Coverage is done after the master scene. As per the master shot, closeup, mid shots are taken.

thGAP - BAbyss in Moderno!! Transgenic Human Germline Alternatives ProjectMarc Dusseiller Dusjagr
thGAP - Transgenic Human Germline Alternatives Project, presents an evening of input lectures, discussions and a performative workshop on artistic interventions for future scenarios of human genetic and inheritable modifications.
To begin our lecturers, Marc Dusseiller aka "dusjagr" and Rodrigo Martin Iglesias, will give an overview of their transdisciplinary practices, including the history of hackteria, a global network for sharing knowledge to involve artists in hands-on and Do-It-With-Others (DIWO) working with the lifesciences, and reflections on future scenarios from the 8-bit computer games of the 80ies to current real-world endeavous of genetically modifiying the human species.
We will then follow up with discussions and hands-on experiments on working with embryos, ovums, gametes, genetic materials from code to slime, in a creative and playful workshop setup, where all paticipant can collaborate on artistic interventions into the germline of a post-human future.
2. Montage
• Montage is a technique in film editing in
which a series of short shots are edited into a
sequence to condense time, space and
information.
3. Clips
• A strip of motion picture film specifically
inserted in a live telecast.
4. Continuity
• A detailed script or scenario consulted to avoid discrepancies from shot to shot in a
film, allowing the various scenes to be shot out of order.
5. Non-continuity
• A scene which doesn’t carry on from the last
scene and starts fresh.
11. Activity 1.
• In the shot I have just chosen sergeant angel arrives into the
village. We all see the villains reaction to him making his way
to the village in a series of shots showing their reactions. We
see close-ups of their faces. The editing gets faster as we see
the villains and his friend. The fight starts with him saying
morning.
12. Activity 3
• The different shots that are taken of the
villagers are all composed in different ways.
The way each shot is different is shown
through the way the camera gets closer to
them to show reactions to towards him. They
are also still images so you can see their facial
expressions.
