Poverty in India is widespread, and a variety of methods have been proposed to measure it. The official measure of Indian government, before 2005, was based on food security and it was defined from per capita expenditure for a person to consume enough calories and be able to pay for associated essentials to survive. Since 2005, Indian government adopted the Tendulkar methodology which moved away from calorie anchor to a basket of goods and used rural, urban and regional minimum expenditure per capita necessary to survive.
The World Bank has similarly revised its definition and benchmarks to measure poverty since 1990, with $2.25 per day income on purchasing power parity basis as the definition in use from 2005 to 2013. Some semi-economic and non-economic indices have also been proposed to measure poverty in India; for example, the Multi-dimensional Poverty Index placed 33% weight on number of years spent in school and education and 6.25% weight on financial condition of a person, in order to determine if that person is poor.
Ecotourism is a form of tourism involving visiting fragile, pristine, and relatively undisturbed natural areas, intended as a low-impact and often small scale alternative to standard commercial mass tourism.

Rural Tourism- A Catalyst for Rural Economic Growthinventionjournals
Tourism is one of the world’s largest industries. Tourism which can be sustained over the long term because it results in a net benefit for the social, economic, natural and cultural environments of the area in which it takes place. For developing countries like India, it is also one of the prime income generators. But the huge infrastructural and resource demands of tourism (e.g. water consumption, waste generation and energy use) can have severe impacts upon local communities and the environment if it is not properly managed. The spirit of India resides in her villages and those living in cities and towns have their roots in rural life, which has pastoral beauty and touching simplicity, offer fresh comforting breezes and lavish openness. Tourism growth potential can be bind as a strategy for Rural Development in specific and rural tourism in general which definitely useful for a country like India, where almost 74 per cent of the population resides in rural areas. The tourism sector provides employment to about 50 million people. Even a modest 10 per cent growth in tourism sector would generate 5 million jobs every year and major beneficiary are weaker sections of society women and rural artisans. Rural tourism stands for showcasing the ethnic arts, crafts, culture and lifestyle in its traditional approach. The present study was conducted with an objective to identify the various forms of rural tourism, role of government and private sector in enhancing the efficient tourism prerequisite, to study the problems in rural tourism and to construct the suggestions and recommendations for rural tourism. The present study is based on the secondary data published in various journals, articles, books and others sources of information The study reveals that endorsement of village tourism is a competent device for socio-economic benefits to rural people. It is a multi-sectoral activity and the industry is affected by many other sectors of the nation’s economy. Therefore, government and private sectors should ensure healthier linkages and coordination. It also has to play a pivotal role in tourism management and promotion. Further, the study also discloses that rural tourism has the potential to increase public appreciation of the environment and to spread awareness of environmental problems when it brings people into closer contact with nature and the environment. This confrontation may heighten awareness of the value of nature and lead to environmentally conscious behaviour and activities to preserve the environment.

When tourism getting momentum globally, a concern irks locally is – is tourism really benefitting the common people in destinations? When ordinary people are forced to jeopardize their convenience for the pleasures of travelers and tour operators, a lion part of the income generated from tourism goes to minority business players. Even though these natural attractions are to be equally enjoyed by all, this paradox remain prevails. Here the novel concept Responsible Tourism (RT) tries to answer many of our apprehensions. This paper reiterates that RT initiative – a strategy to accomplish economic, social and environmental objectives simultaneously shall be the approach for destination management. The Sustainable Tourism Products (STP) and Community Based Tourism (CBT) products emerge as a new strategy for destination marketing, and this Cause Related Marketing (CRM) totally in line with pro-poor, inclusive, and sustainable development concepts creates a win-win situation among community, tourists and industry.

Tourism is the backbone not only Jammu and Kashmir but Bhaderwah economy also as it provides job opportunities to number of people. Tourism is broadest generic sense can do more to develop understanding among the people, it provides jobs, create foreign exchange and raise living standards of the people. Chinta valley has enough potential for the growth of tourism. The focus of this paper is on the potential of tourism, tourism infrastructure, and tourist inflow in Chinta valley. There are number of tourist places around the valley which attract the tourist i.e. Baggan and Bhattan picnic spots. A whole view of Chinta valley can be seen from this place. The on road journey amidst this valley through these small villages is highly enjoyable. To the upper side of the road are the lovely houses of the locals and on the other side are the beautiful green cultivable fields and very calm and smoothly flowing Chinta nallah. As the influx of tourists become visible in Chinta valley, various difficulties arise like lack of space in hotels for tourists which show the government failure of planning in creation of better infrastructure. Role of Social Media Marketing by Hotels in Promoting Tourism in Rajasthan.pdfRShrm1
Tourism is currently the most active and ongoing activity in the world. And Rajasthan is already renowned for its rich historical, religious, architectural, and natural legacy.
Additionally, it is also celebrated today for the vast business potential it offers to heritage hotels. Athithi Devo Bhava and Padharo Mahre Desh are two examples of Rajasthan's exceptional hospitality that have consistently drawn visitors from around the world.
In this regard, the underlying research question of the present study was “What is the role of Social Media Marketing by Heritage Hotels in Promoting Tourism in Rajasthan?”
It is clear from the data analysis and findings that neither guests or tourists and nor hotels can avoid social media in today's world.
Marketing and maintaining heritage hotel brands require the use of social media. Social media helps Rajasthan heritage hotels with attracting new guests, increase engagement, enhance guest satisfaction and also improve retention.
It also helps heritage hotels in doing just-in-time marketing by extending market deals. Its usefulness is much more as it provides a platform to engage with existing guests and reach new customers.
The use of social media is rising day by day in the heritage hotel industry of Rajasthan and it has helped them in increased website traffic, brand engagement and enhanced communication and interaction.
It's time that Rajasthan heritage hotels that are not using social media should also start adopting it for marketing purposes.

Heritage Hotels of Rajasthan are increasingly utilizing social media for marketing their properties and developing relationships with potential prospects.
From the literature review of previous studies on social media marketing, it was revealed that Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Telegram, Snapchat etc. were the varied social media marketing tools used by majority of hotels to attract prospective customers and retain existing ones.
However, there hasn't been much focus on figuring out how heritage hotels are using this platform to communicate with their prospects and guests.
Introduction-
Social media technology has aided hoteliers in promoting and marketing their properties at the national and international levels. Travelers and guests nowadays are keen on sharing their travel and stay experiences on social media platforms.
Various platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and Twitter have been effectively employed for marketing services by the hospitality industry. It facilitates online functionality and monitoring perspectives.
Hotel chains like Hyatt, Hilton, etc. use Twitter as a simulated concierge service for consumers, allowing them to "tweet" questions and receive responses within sixty minutes.
Hotel operators nowadays appoint staff members to track blogs, social media sites so as to respond promptly and appropriately to customers.
Social media tools have even assisted Rajasthan heritage hotel operators to communicate with old and new customers.
Social media facilitates active engagement between existing travelers, prospects and hoteliers.
So in this context, the goal of this study is to assess the role of social media platforms in the marketing strategies of Rajasthan heritage hotels.

explore broader analytical conclusions,rather
than the statistical conclusions.
Methodology
9. Rajasthan tourism growth has been observed
with a negative impact on the environment by
being destructive for fragile ecological
habitat.
It has over-exploited natural resources like,
forest, water and the local environment, which
creates threat and make it unsustainable.
Thus, requires a special focus in conserving.
Data Analysis and Interpretation
10. Limited data availability of eco-tourism product.
Being a niche product attracts a particular
segment and no. of such tourists are few.
Lack of accreditation.
Faces tough competition from commercial tourism
resulting in low economic returns and reduced
commercial feasibility.
Guidelines are not strictly enforced, promoted,
adhered and practiced.
Hurdles of Eco-tourism-
Infrastructural development is unplanned which
cause environmental problems.
Increased load than its carrying capacity causes a
serious threat of natural disaster.
Absence of adequate marketing strategy for
promotion.
Lacks effective management, requisites
institutional arrangements, adherence of adequate
framework, policies and dedicated stakeholder
participation.
Lack of soft skills and suitable capacity building
programs to please international tourists.
11. Conceptual Framework and Model
Following ecotourism sustainable
model in tourism will act as a
development paradigm which will
serve as a fuel in the engine of
state economic growth by saving
the environment of Rajasthan.
12. Carrying capacity of the destinations should be
ensured and adhered.
Development of existing destinations and developing
new ones with world class infrastructure.
Private sector participaion.
Pursuing holistic sustainable tourism development.
Adequate planning, timely impact assessment,
community involvement and participation of NGO’s.
Eco-friendly tourism activities ought to be promoted
that promotes awareness and conservation.
Recommendations
Fostering good coordination network among the
ministries and departments.
Coordinating all stakeholders efforts.
Financial schemes shall be introduced by the
Rajasthan government.
Conducting regular tourism surveys, studies and
scientific research and analysis of tourism data.
Certification programs aiming at rating and grading
of eco-tourism products.
13. Thetourism sector works as an engine of growth for the state by generating income,
wealth and employment. However, there is some serious repercussion.
Mass tourism has affected the environmentally fragile areas and has threatened the
environment assets of the community.
Tocurb this, there is a need for timely preservation action so that irreparable loss can
be avoided and resources for future generations could be saved.
There is a need to reposition tourism in terms of diversified activities, so that it
generates sustainable tourism which will preserve, protect and enhance the beautiful
environs.
However, eco-tourism can only be sustainable when the authorities, community,
service provider and tourist are well informed, prepared and are motivated towards
the environment.
T
oconclude, a middle way shall be adopted which maximizes the tourism economic
potential and at the same time should minimize the threats to the environment.
