A floating market is a market where goods are sold from boats. Originating in
times and places where water transport played an important role in daily life,
most floating markets operating today mainly serve as tourist attractions, and
are chiefly found in Thailand, Indonesia ,Vietnam and Bangladesh .
The floating market appears as the centre of barisal's beauty. Nobody knows
when the idea of this floating market b egan,but it's a hundred –yeat old
tradition. For more than 100 years, the local farmers have been experiencing
the ups and downs of life along with the ebb and flow of the river.

Why you should go?
The southern region of Bangladesh is famous for Guaves,more popularly known in
Bangladesh as ‘Bengal’s Apple. Especilly in jhalakathi sadar upazila and at swarupkathi.
Every day thousands of tons of guavas are supplied all across the country . Boats are the
main transportation for supplying . Farmers carry the guavas onto the boats from the river
–adjacent orchards. There are hundreds of boats filled with guava and all the trades occur
on boats.
The market runs every Friday from May to November, “panis” or “pinis”. “dingi” and “naak
golui” are the types of boats available for sale,built by local craftsmen.
How to go . . .
After reaching at Barisal Rupatoli bus stand, take “Dhanshiri Paribahan”
leaving for Khulna. Ask the bus supervisor to stop at Kirtipasha Mor in
Jhalakathi. Bus fare would be 60 taka. From there, take shared Auto
Rickshaw to reach Vimruli by paying 20-30 taka.

VarendraMuseum- A Treasure Trove of History and Culture
Varendra Museum is a museum, research center and popular visitor attraction located at the
heart of Rajshahi town and maintained by Rajshahi University in Bangladesh. This was the first
museum and the oldest museum of Bangladesh. Varendra museum was the first museum to be
established in East Bengal in 1910. This museum has a rich and ancient collection, almost three
thousands of objects of Paharpur, Mohasthangar and also of 16th to 19th century A.D. Its rich
collections contain interesting objects of past Hindu, Buddhist and Muslim heritage. It is located

Natore Rajbari
Natore Rajbari situated in Natore district town
about 48 km east of Rajshahi. Ramjivan, the
real founder of the Raj family, made his
headquarters at Natore and built most of the
Rajbari complex, the tanks, temples, orchards
and flower gardens. The present area of the
palace is 37.20 acres of land. The great queen
Rani Bhobani was born at 1122(Bengali
Almanac) in Bogra. After his death his two sons
separated and the whole Zamindari was
divided between them and the part of the
eldest son was known as "Boro Taraf" and the
part of the youngest son was known as
"Chhoto Taraf".
There will find lots of edifices inside the
Rajbari premise. One of them is the palace
for the "Chhoto Torof". "Shiv Nath“ was the
first king of the "Chhoto Taraf" After 1984, for
few days, the palace was used as a judge

At the other half, Raja "Bishwanath" was the first King
of the "Bara taraf", and the Raja Jogindra Nath was the
last king of this branch.
The Rajbari premise comprises of several large pond
inside of it. For example the largest one was the "Jol
Tungi Pukur". Another one was the pond of the "Chhoto
Taraf"
There is a dilapidated palace that is known as "Rani
Mahal", the honorable queen Bhabani used to live here.
This one was a nicely decorated and highly ornate
building. But during the earthquake of 1897 Assam, it
was sink almost most of it inside the ground.
There are several numbers of temples
inside the Rajbari. This palace is situated at
the main town of Natore, and its a lovely place
for the tourist.

Kuakata
Kuakata is a town known for its panoramic
sea beach It is located in south-
eastern Bangladesh, and is the number two
tourist destination in the country. Kuakata
beach is a sandy expanse 18 kilometres
(11 mi) long and 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) wide.
From the beach one can have an
unobstructed view of both sunrise and
sunset over the Bay of Bengal.

highest literacy rates in the country.

Jaflong
Jaflong is one of the most attractive tourist spots in Sylhet division, situated at
the border between Bangladesh and the Indian state of Meghalaya,
overshadowed by subtropical mountains and rain-forests, beside the river
Mari. It is a scenic spot nearby amidst tea gardens and rare beauty of rolling
stones from hills. It is famous for it’s stone collections and is home of Khasia
tribe. Lalakhal is a blue water canal at Sylhet surrounded by mountains of
Meghalaya, about 01 hour drive from Jaflong.

PANTHUMAI
Panthumai – a village from West Jaflong Union under Guainghat Upazilla – is another tourism
hub in Sylhet. Though the main fall is geographically located in the Indian territory, people
can enjoy its enormous splendour head-on. the splendid fall, the Guainghat-Pangthumai
Road itself is a sight for the sore eye. As one heads east, the enormous mountain ranges
appear to come closer and turn from blue to green gradually. And the clouds and the falls
playing hide and seek are sure to fill one with awe. The best possible time to visit
Pangthumai is between April and mid-October.

SRIMANGAL
Srimongal is the place of tea gardens, hills and forest areas on the hills. Its is famous for the
largest tea gardens of world covered by lush green carpet. One can have a look into the
spectacular tea processing at Tea Research Institute. It is also called camellia, green carpet
or Tea Mountain. Lawachara National Park in Srimangal Maulvi Bazar is also a huge great
attraction of tourist spot in sylhet. Lawachara National Forest is a major national park and
one of the important and well-reserved forests in Bangladesh. The land was declared a
national park by the Bangladesh government on July 7, 1996 under the Wildlife Act of 1974.
