Ebola virus is a viral illness caused by one of five viruses in the Ebolavirus genus. It has a 19 kilobase pair genome containing seven genes and a filamentous particle structure. Symptoms include fever, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea and internal/external bleeding. It is transmitted through contact with infected body fluids and transmission can also occur at funerals or from handling bushmeat. There is currently no approved vaccine for humans.
Dear viewers , this presentation includes introduction, symptoms, preventions, all information about ebola virus.I hope you improve your knowledge by going through this presentation.
Ebola gets introduced into the human population through close contact with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected animals. Follow the preventive measures for betterment.

The Ebola virus causes an acute, serious illness which is often fatal if untreated. Ebola virus disease (EVD) first appeared in 1976 in 2 simultaneous outbreaks, one in Nzara, Sudan, and the other in Yambuku, Democratic Republic of Congo. The latter occurred in a village near the Ebola River, from which the disease takes its name.
The current outbreak in west Africa, (first cases notified in March 2014), is the largest and most complex Ebola outbreak since the Ebola virus was first discovered in 1976. There have been more cases and deaths in this outbreak than all others combined. It has also spread between countries starting in Guinea then spreading across land borders to Sierra Leone and Liberia, by air (1 traveller only) to Nigeria, and by land (1 traveller) to Senegal.
The most severely affected countries, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia have very weak health systems, lacking human and infrastructural resources, having only recently emerged from long periods of conflict and instability. On August 8, the WHO Director-General declared this outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.
A separate, unrelated Ebola outbreak began in Boende, Equateur, an isolated part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The virus family Filoviridae includes 3 genera: Cuevavirus, Marburgvirus, and Ebolavirus. There are 5 species that have been identified: Zaire, Bundibugyo, Sudan, Reston and Taï Forest. The first 3, Bundibugyo ebolavirus, Zaire ebolavirus, and Sudan ebolavirus have been associated with large outbreaks in Africa. The virus causing the 2014 west African outbreak belongs to the Zaire species.
There are nearly 100 viruses of the herpes group that infect many different animal species.
Official name of herpesviruses that commonly infect human is Humans herpesvirus (HHV)
herpes simplex virus types 1 (HHV 1)
Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HHV 2)
Varicella-zoster virus (HHV 3)
Epstein-Barr virus, (HHV 4)
Cytomegalovirus (HHV 5)
Human herpesvirus 6 (HHV 6)
Human herpesvirus 7 (HHV 7)
Human herpesvirus 8 (HHV 8) (Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus).

3. WHAT IS EBOLA VIRUS?
Ebola is a viral illness
Ebolavirus(taxonomic group) an (specific virus)
4. CAUSES
EVD is caused by four of five viruses classified in
the genus Ebolavirus , family Filoviridae,
order Mononegavirales
Bundibugyo virus (BDBV)
Sudan virus (SUDV)
Taï Forest virus (TAFV)
Ebola virus (EBOV, formerly Zaire Ebola virus))
5. CONT.....
Bushmeat being prepared for cooking in Ghana,
2013 Human consumption of equatorial animals in
Africa in the form of bushmeat has been linked to
the transmission of diseases to people, including
Ebola.
7. STRUCTURE
Filamentous particles
The shape of a shepherd's crook or in the shape of
a "U" or a "6", and they may be coiled, toroid, or
branched.
80 nm in width
length of ebolaviruses ranges from 974 to
1,086 nm
8. SYMPTOMS
Fever, sore throat, muscle pain and headaches.
Typically, vomiting, diarrhea and rash follow, along
with decreased functioning of the liver and kidneys.
Begin to bleed both within the body and externally.
9. CONT…..
influenza-like stage
fatigue, fever, headaches, joint, muscle and
abdominal pain. Vomiting, diarrhea and loss of
appetite
Less common symptoms:
sore throat, chest pain, hiccups, shortness of
breath and trouble swallowing
10. Incubation period:
8 to 10 days
vary between 2 and 21 days.
Skin manifestations:
maculopapular rash (in about 50% of cases).
12. TRANSMISSION
It then spreads between humans by direct contact
with infected blood, bodily fluids or organs, or
indirectly through contact with contaminated
environments.
Even funerals of Ebola victims can be a risk, if
mourners have direct contact with the body of the
deceased.
14. CONT….
No vaccine is currently available for humans.
Please take precautions against this Virus and
spread the awareness!!
Eat tulsi leaves
