Eating Disorders Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of eating disorders is a challenging endeavor that demands a
sensitive and nuanced approach. This subject delves into complex issues related to mental health,
societal pressures, and personal struggles. To tackle it effectively, one must possess a deep
understanding of the psychological aspects, cultural influences, and medical dimensions
surrounding eating disorders.
Researching and gathering reliable information is a formidable task in itself. The literature on
eating disorders is vast and multifaceted, ranging from clinical studies to personal narratives.
Navigating through this sea of information requires careful discernment to select credible sources
that contribute to a comprehensive and well-balanced exploration of the topic.
Furthermore, addressing the emotional and psychological aspects of eating disorders necessitates
a level of empathy and sensitivity. Writing about such a sensitive subject requires the ability to
convey the gravity of the issue without sensationalizing or stigmatizing those who may be
affected. Striking the right tone is crucial to ensure the essay fosters understanding and
awareness rather than perpetuating harmful stereotypes.
Organizing the essay structure poses another challenge. Balancing statistical data, academic
research, and personal stories requires a thoughtful arrangement to maintain coherence and
engagement. Developing a thesis statement that encapsulates the essence of the essay while
capturing the intricacies of the subject is a task that demands careful consideration.
Moreover, the writer must be prepared to navigate potential biases and preconceptions. Given the
societal perceptions surrounding body image and beauty standards, it is crucial to approach the
topic with an open mind and a commitment to dispelling misconceptions.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on eating disorders involves a multifaceted journey through
research, empathy, and effective communication. It requires a delicate balance between providing
factual information and conveying the human experience associated with these disorders.
Writing on such a profound and intricate topic demands a commitment to raising awareness and
fostering understanding.
If you find yourself struggling with such a task, it's worth noting that assistance is available.
Professional services like HelpWriting.net can provide support in crafting essays on various
topics, ensuring that your message is conveyed effectively while maintaining the necessary
sensitivity.

Florence Nightingale
Nursing is a job we would consider a very selfless job. It s a job that requires you
to be at your best at every moment because someone s life or well being is
depending on you. Long shifts may get you tired, you may not have a lunch break
because you are working non stop but you could care less. All you care about is
impacting the lives of others. You are constantly putting others before yourself.
Florence Nightingale was a remarkable woman who did exactly this. Nightingale was
born in Florence Italy, on May 12, 1820. She discovered she wanted to be a nurse
early in her lifetime because as a teenager in 1837 she received a divine calling to do

She would go check on soldiers at all hours of the night going through the dark
halls carrying a lamp. The soldiers eventually started giving her nicknames like The
Lady with the Lamp and The Angel of the Crimean . Florence advised the army on
sanitary conditions in India during and after the Indian Mutiny in 1857. This led to
the establishment of a Sanitary Department within the Indian government. Her
reports and testimony to others on sanitary conditions of the army led to a lot of
improvements that also led to opening an army medical college in 1861. Florence
also intended to write a book to help others on practicing how to become a nurse
and how nursing can be used in future preferences. Aside from all of that Florence
helped establish many nursing organizations throughout her whole life. Doing
what she did for others she won awards for the work that she did. In the 1870 s, she
mentored Linda Richards, the first professionally trained American nurse, who
established nurse training programs in the U.S. and Japan. In late 1954 s,
Nightingale Received a letter from the secretary of War Sidney Herbert, asking for
her to organize a corps of nurses to aid to the sick and fallen soldiers. She gathered 34
nurses and sailed with them to Crimea a few days after.
Florence Nightingale was an influential figure in the development of modern
nursing. When Florence Nightingale was employed no uniforms were created
during the Crimean War. Both nursing role and education were first defined by
Florence Nightingale she was honored in many ways before she had past away. On
May 10, 1910, she was awarded the badge of honour of the Norwegian Red Cross

Food Allergy Testing
Tests That Identify Your Food Allergies
If you develop a headache, itching, or hives shortly after eating, you might have a
food allergy. Food allergies are often difficult to pinpoint since there are so many
additives in prepared foods and several foods and spices in a single recipe. You ll
probably need to undergo allergy testing to find out what foods you need to avoid.
These are some of the tests your doctor may use to identify the foods that trigger your
allergies.
Scratch Test
A scratch test is a simple allergy test that s done in your doctor s office. The test is
done on your arm or back. Your skin is scratched in several places with needles that
contain various food allergens. The test isn t painful, but if you have an allergic
reaction to a substance, it may cause your arm to develop hives or itch in the area.
This test can reveal what foods you re allergic to, but it usually tests for the most
common allergens. It isn t comprehensive or completely reliable, so your doctor may
order other tests along with the scratch test.
Blood Test
If your doctor orders a blood test, you ll have a sample of blood drawn and sent to a
lab. At the lab, your blood will be exposed to a range of allergens to determine the
ones that trigger a reaction. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other foods are gradually added back into your diet until you have an allergic
reaction. This is a long process, but it helps you develop a list of safe foods you
can eat while you re working on identifying the ones that trigger your allergies.
When you eat a food that causes hives, itching, headache, or other symptoms, you
can eliminate it from your diet and avoid the symptoms in the future. While you re
on this diet, your doctor may have you keep a food diary that tracks everything you
eat as well as any symptoms you have that day. A diary is valuable at helping you
notice patterns you might miss
Rosa s Life In The Life Of Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks was born on Febuary 4th of 1913. A lot can change in the course of a
hundred years. Back then when Parks was alive, everything was different from
now. She lived in the culture of the century before me. When she was dying, I was
just a baby. Since then the laws, religion, clothing, ceremony, and activities have
changed completely. Rosa Parks was a black girl who grew up in a world made for
whites. She had to worry about many more things back in the day then people do
now with her color. All the laws were in favor of whites and discriminated blacks.
Rosa, everytime she would meet a white person, they would act like they were
over her and they were better than her. She was six years old and lived in the rural
Level, Alabama. (Then, she was very frail and sickly.) Moses Hudson and his wife
lived next door to Rosa, her mother, Leona McCauley, her baby brother Sylvester,
and her grandparents. Hudson was a white man so whenever he was near, they
would have to act different and unusual to say the least. If they did not show respect
and politeness, their lives could be over. One day, he brought over a white young
man whom he presented as his son in law. He got introduced to Rosa and acted
different than what usually white people act to blacks. He patted her on the head and
commented on how cute of a little girl she was. Seventy years later, she still
remembered this historic time in her life when a white treated her like a regular girl.

Why I Want To Work On My Bachelor s Degree
My plan right now is to work on my bachelor s degree. That is the first priority in my
life. Currently I am an E 5 in the Navy. I have a year left at my current command. I
have a goal to finish my bachelors in the next two and a half years. I have a year
left on my current contract now. In the service, we call the number of years we
have enlisted for contracts. I signed up for 3 years and February of 2017 my
contract will be up. I plan on reenlisting for another 3 years to finish up my degree
and save more money. My job I am doing right now involves Intel. I have been
doing this for the past 6 years that I have been in the Navy. I am currently trying to

I am trying to rerate to become a paralegal. Law and legal work seems more
interesting to me while I am in the service and is a better fit for me then being in the
intel community. I know that I would enjoy it more being involved with people and
learning about the laws of the military. If I cannot get another job while I am in the
service I still plan on re enlisting for another 2 to 3 years anyway. I want to get my
bachelor degree in Management Information Systems. I love the combination of
Business and Information Systems and I feel that will be more competitive in the
civilian world if I have a mixture of both fields. My plan is not to stay in the
service for 20 years. I really find business to be fascinating. Business is a field that
is constantly changing, things are being created, its fast paced, and in constant
motion. The service can be stifling. My intentions were to only due a 4 year tour
however, I did not want to get out of the service without my degree. It wasn t until
recently I figured out what I wanted to do for college. I reenlisted for another 3
Genocide In Darfur
Imagine living in a nation where constant violence from civil disputes and the
influence of a horrific genocide takes place daily and the government is too corrupt
to stop it. This is currently occurring in Sudan, where millions of refugees are
fleeing the country in hope for a better life in refugee camps in neighboring
countries or even being resettled in a more peaceful community. This process for
finding safety and later resettling can be connected back to the book Outcasts United
where refugees of war assimilated countries resettle into the US in hope for starting a
new life. Since Sudan s civil conflict has specifically targeted the people living in the
Darfur region, this kind of persecution can negatively affect the community of the...

Since 2003, the black African farmers of western Sudan s Darfur region have been
victims of genocide. The genociders are Sudan s Arab dominated government and
nomadic Arab militia groups known as the Janjaweed. Darfur s residents have
suffered from discrimination, lack of resources, education, health services, etc.
There is a large gap between the resources that the government has invested in
Darfur and those invested in riverine Sudan. A fact that clearly illustrates the lack
of safety towards the Muslims in the Darfur region is, Thousands of villages were
destroyed, pillaged, burned to the ground, and residents dislocated and killed
amongst the violence. Only the villages of African tribes were bombed and attacked;
nearby Arab villages were left unharmed, (Combat Genocide 1). This quote
emphasizes the fact that because of the violence occurring, residents are getting
killed or being force to be dislocated. In 2009 the United Nations estimated that there
were 2.7 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Darfur and approximately
270,000 refugees in eastern Chad (Combat Genocide 1). The battles between the
rebel groups and the Janjaweed spread into Chad, which led to tensions between
Chad and Sudan. Chad had huge problems with dealing with the huge number of
refugees (Combat Genocide 1). In the refugee camps, the Janjaweed captured,
attacked and raped women when they go outside refugee camps to collect firewood.
Many refugees who fled their homes continued to flee from repeat attacks by the
Janjaweed throughout Darfur. The genocide of the Darfur people have clearly taken
a toll on the persecuted people, creating a life of violence for
Pan s Labyrinth Film Analysis Essay
Vanessa Salfen 6/29/2012 Visual Analysis Pan s Labyrinth: A Visual Analysis Pan
s Labyrinth, originally titled El laberinto del fauno, was published in 2006 by the
Spanish director Guillermo del Toro. The story is set in the year 1944, in the
country side of a post Civil War Spain. A young and imaginative girl named Ofelia,
played by Ivana Baquero, travels with her pregnant mother, Carmen Vidal, who is
very ill; in order to meet and live with her stepfather, a cruel and sadistic man
named Capitan Vidal (Sergi Lopez). During the first night of their stay, Ofelia meets
a fairy that leads her to a pit in the center of a labyrinth where they soon meet a faun
(Doug Jones). The faun tells Ofelia that she is a princess from a faerie kingdom...

He uses these most prominently to depict the film s villain as an authoritarian,
power hungry, and cruel man. This harsh commander has total power over the
rural town that he inhabits and the steely blue lighting is able to demonstrate that
immaculately. It illustrates a gloomy atmosphere that he himself has created, as
whenever there are scenes set in his village, the cold blue tones are cast over the
screen. The blue lighting is there to highlight that the events in reality are cold
natured and unjust. He speaks only in a short and sharp manner, consistently
ordering other s about. The techniques by del Toro are used to manipulate the
viewer s attitude towards Vidal thus giving a strict, controlling, and heartless
impression of him. Lighting is used as a major technique in this film as it is often
used to set the mood. Due to Vidal s world always being shown enveloped in blue
grey hue, it immediately shows the viewers that is isn t a welcoming place to be.
This shade of lighting helps create a detached feeling which is in great contrast to
the golden, homely, and warm lighting of Ofelia s fantasy world portraying a safe
and enchanting atmosphere. This is most apparent at the end of the film when Ofelia
is lying in the labyrinth close to death. When Vidal has just shot her, dark blue
shadows loom into the air, they begin to
Oryx And Crake The Three Wise Men
Ever since the beginning of time civilizations around the world have always tried
to create a perfect society. To some people they would argue The Circle by Dave
Eggers and Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood, a utopia has been accomplished.
But in actuality, the world that Atwood creates and Egger s society are totalitarian
dystopias. Both novels have a Godlike figure who destroys one society in order to
create what they think is a utopia, but ultimately their worlds are dysfunctional. In
The Circle, the Three Wise Men are out to create a transparent society in order to
rid secrecy, which they think leads to the world where there is no evil. ...I have yet

Crake wanted to eliminate emotional attachments, and other institutions that
promoted advanced societies, such as religion, art, politics, etc. He thought by
eliminating all of these things in the world, all the disease and problems with
humanity would also disappear, but he did not account for failure. Some others like
you came here (Atwood 364). Crake s goal was to destroy the human race and
recreate it with his new species the Crakers, but by not accounting for any
survivors of his BlyssPluss pill, his new perfect world did not succeed when there
are a few humans left besides Snowman. Crake also wanted get rid of religion in
the world, but Snowman reintroduced to the Crakers, by making up a creational
story about Oryx and Crake as the creators and how the Crakers originated and
explanations for things in the world. Today they asked who made them. ... And I
told them the truth. I said it was Crake (311). We know Crake lives in the sky...
(361). By the Crakers wondering who created them and then assuming their creator
lives in the sky gives Crake a God like complex, which means that religion has not
been eliminated from the new world. Since Crake sought to eliminate humans and
advance institutions and both of these things reappeared in the new world he created
it shows that his new world could never be functional. The utopia that Crake sought to

Panda Environmental Issues
I read two articles that I found interesting on the science daily website. The first
article is about how nutrient pollution is changing the sounds in the sea. The second
was a video about a comeback for Pandas.
In the first article written by the University of Adelaide, it discusses how the nutrient
pollution that is emptying into the seas from cities, towns and agricultural land is
changing the sounds that are made by marine life. This could potentially make it
hard for the creatures of the sea to recognize the navigational cues usually used,
which could ultimately cause a decline in health and overall reproduction of more sea
creatures, such as fish, shrimp and sea urchins for generations to come. Without the
proper sounds of the sea, the sea creatures may lose direction of their shelter and
without a proper shelter and diet, they will not survive thus, will not reproduce. If they
are not able to reproduce, it is possible for these sea creatures to decline in population
to the point of endangerment or even extinction. Not to mention, other possible
negative effects that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The chinese government was credited for this progress due to their panda reserves

Panda is still not in the clear, but human conservation is surely helping to get them
back on track with population growth. Although the Panda is having much success,
the video tells that the case isn t the same for many other species, 200 100,000 to
be exact, this amount of species go extinct each year. This interested me because I
love animals, and panda s are one of my favorite animal, they are super cute.
Hopefully as we learn more about each species, and as more people continue to

Schizophrenia In A Beautiful Mind
In the movie A Beautiful Mind directed by Ronald William Howard, characterizes
the story of John Nash, a brilliant mathematician, who suffers from paranoid
schizophrenia. The movie is based of the true life story of John Forbes Nash,
portrayed in the movie by Russell Crowe. John is a college student attending
Princeton University and early in his career he made an astonishing discovery and
which became internationally renowned. This lead to him winning the Nobel Prize
during his late years. The movie depicts John as an awkward and socially inept
student, who spent a lot of time to discover a revolutionary equation in mathematics.
During that time, he also started showing symptoms of schizophrenia. Schizophrenia
has been defined as a split mind , in which people interpret reality abnormally. It then
can result in hallucinations, disorders, delusions and extremely disordered behavior
and thinking. These symptoms can all be seen in Russell Crowe s portrayal of John
Nash. It is noticed in the movie that John Nash, unlike majority of men who have
schizophrenia he started showing symptoms in his thirties. The first instance was

Lab Safety And Safety In A Science Lab
Lab safety is very important if you are going to work in a science lab. The two
things to always remember when working in a lab is safety and that lab is a
privilege. The Lab is a privilege each student is lucky to have, without it the
students would not be able to conduct experiments in the laboratory. One of the
most important reasons why students should always be safe is because many
things in the lab can be harmful to one or others in the lab. Toxic substances may
be spilled, shards of glass or other sharps may cause injuries/accidents if one is not
careful. Lab procedures must be talked over and thoroughly in a lab to make sure
that the lab is a safe environment to perform tasks for the experiment. Using good
judgment, observe safety rules and follow directions can prevent accidents from
happening.
One of the first rules in the laboratory is having the correct /appropriate attire. While
working in the lab all clothing must not be baggy or loose and be able for one to
work in their workspace. Hair must be slicked back and out of the way from all
materials during an experiment. Open toes shoes are not allowed in the lab, only
enclosed shoes. No long dangling jewelry or items are permitted. As well, goggles
should always be on just in case any chemicals or materials are out of harms worth.
Lastly, in the lab, all students including the professor should be wearing an apron
while conducting all experiments. This prevents a lot of accidents that can be caused

Grant Proposal Requirements

being investigated are the W.K. Kellogg, the Sherman, and Mellon Foundation.
Furthermore, I will proceed by reviewing the specific needs for each proposal

no significant changes I found to be necessary when applying for a proposal

Persuasive Essay On Forest Fires
Forest fires are not uncommon in the west coast but rising temperatures and global
climate change have been leading to drier and drier seasons in many areas, making
wildfires a growing concern. The west coast has both the largest number of
wildfires as well as the most severe, starting from 100 acres and above (Donegan,
2016). Southern California is a frequent location for wildfires each year due to its
dry weather and hot temperatures during the summer, and the Santa Clarita region
alone has had a 20% reduction in soil moisture. The effects of the reduction of soil
moisture has led to concerning forest fire events such as the Sand Fire in 2016 and
also the invasion of PineBark Beetles. Events like these can be incredibly dangerous
to both nature and to the human population. Although difficult to prevent because
forest fires can happen naturally when temperatures rise, especially during summers,
there are still many strategies people can follow in order to prevent fires in local
forests (Wildland Fire, n.d.). We will also explore some benefits wildfires can bring
to the ecosystem.
General Info
Wildfires can originate from a match, a cigarette bud, or a campfire and can have
devastating effects on the surrounding wildlife and human population as well. About
90% of wildfires are the cause of human error (Wildland Fire, n.d.). Wind,
temperature, and humidity can have a large effect on how long a forest fire lasts, the
direction, and how intense it can become (Wildland Fire,

continued to grow throughout the past four decades. At the end of 1996, there were
over 600
HMO s in operation, enrolling around 65 million members, which is about 1/4 of the
population
(Tufts 1998).
Before I get into the different types of managed care organizations, I am going to go
over
some cost control methods in managed care. Managed care organizations are different
methods
used to control utilization of services. Utilization management requires three things.
First, you
have to have an expert evaluation of which services are medically necessary in a
given case. This
ensures that unnecessary services are kept to a minimum. Secondly it requires a
determination of
how those services can be provided most inexpensively, while maintaining a high
level of
quality of care. It also requires a review of the process of care and changes in the
patients
condition to revise the course of medical treatment if necessary. The methods that are
most
commonly used for utilization monitoring and control are choice restriction,
gatekeeping, case
management, utilization reviews, and practice profiling.
The first method I am going to talk about is choice restriction. Traditional health
insurance gave the insured open access to any provider. This led to an over use of
services. Most
of the managed care plans have some sort of
Oil Madness In The Film There Will Be Blood By Paul...
In the movie, There Will Be Blood released in 2007, saying, oil madness could
describe the whole movie. Paul Thomas Anderson was both the screenwriter and the
director. There Will Be Blood starred Daniel Day Lewis, Paul Dano, and Dillon
Freasier. In the movie, the main character is a money grieving business man.
Throughout the movie is about the oily path of lies and making riches as an
American businessman. There Will Be Bloodis a drama, but could also be classified
as a thriller. The clichГ©s vary. Daniel being the character he is, creates many
clichГ©s. For example he lies to make money. He leads everybody into thinking he
is a family man when he s the far opposite. The whole movie he also leads H.W. into
thinking he is his son.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He doesn t change one bit throughout the story. Daniel lives his life one lie at a
time. The only object Daniel cares about is money. His goal from beginning to end
is to be on top with more wealth. In the beginning he uses his fake son to get
property and make himself look innocent. Daniel is just as greedy as Eugene
Krabs. During the explosion scene, Daniel doesn t give any thought into the well
being of H.W., but cares greatly about his money burning right in front of his
money craving eyes. Daniel uses a church into receiving more money and even
then he doesn t change. In the end Daniel seems scared and angry at the thought of
H.W. leaving him. I believe he is scared he will lose money without H.W., this
leaves him with a ball of anger and telling H.W. the truth. A major trait of Daniel is
being egotistic, this trait helps him be the successful businessman he is. Daniel
Day Lewis played the role of Daniel Plainview brilliantly. I don t believe he could
have played it any better. He played the role with dark pride and approached every
scene with fire. His eyes stay focused with hunger in every scene. Then maybe
superstition takes over and he just played the role so well because their first names

U.s. Involvement During The Middle East

U.S. Involvement in the Middle East
The Middle East region has been seeing and absorbing the effects of war and
poverty for decades. The United States (U.S.) has provided support in the past to
assist the Middle East, and that has been quite successful. For this reason, the U.S., a
world superpower, should be directly involved in ending conflict in the Middle East
because they possess a capable military, the global economy is directly affected by
the Middle East, and the U.S. is capable of peaceful mediation between conflicted
areas in the Middle East. The Middle East is a region that has constantly been
involved in warfare, and the U.S. has taken appropriate measures to ensure that
peace was possible, even in this war stricken area. The U.S. has also provided aid in
regard to the oil reserves in the Middle East, which are significant to global
development. This protection allows the industry to continue, and it benefits nations
around the world. Lastly, the U.S. has successfully mediated discussion between
conflicted nations, like Egypt and Israel, to achieve a common goal that set them on
a path for peace. While there are many reasons the U.S. should be involved, one of
the most direct reasons is military capability.
The U.S. has a critical importance in regulating and protecting the supply of weapons
in the Middle East. Martha McCoy, M.D., A.B.D., has studied extensively in the
fields of political theory and

Native Americans
The Museum I chose to go to is The Museum of Natural History, the museum was
great and pretty interesting. The topic that I mainly focused on was the Native
Americans. My main points was to focus on the way they were living, how they
managed to survive and most importantly their traditional cultures. There were many
things I ve seen that I learned in class, such as the ghost dance and how they were
forced out of their land to live in the reservation. There were also many things that we
haven t discussed in class; for exa mple, the weapons that they used, the housing and
other traditional dances.
In class we learned about the ghost dance which indicated hopes for the natives
when they were on the reservations. However, there were many more dances that
gave the native hope for other things; for example: the war dance represented
success in an upcoming war. The natives would celebrate the war dance the night
before the war The sun dance was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The thing that I found very interesting was that they had a spear thrower. A spear
thrower is a stick or a bone beneath the spear which gives more range and power to
the spear. These weapons were not just used during war; They were also used for
hunting. Also, Blowguns and darts were common for hunting during that time.
The main purpose of the museum is to amaze the new generation and to show how
life was like back then. There were many things I was amazed by of how people
survived the passed. Nowadays people can t stand a day without internet, but back
then people stay days without eating and managed to survive. This explains why the
latest generation is lucky to be living in this generation. Mostly the museum purpose
is to entertain the
Helios Sun Rise Essay
The reason why the sun rises every morning and sets every evening is because one
of reasons and one reason only. The evil spirits and malevolent creatures that hide in
the darkness of the world. It is said that Helios, the sun god, protects every single
human on Earth. Helios has a very tremendous task everyday and that is to drive his
sunchariot across the sky from East to West. The sun chariot has four horses with
fiery manes and tremendous power. Helios is a very powerful god that can barely
control the horses. On the days where he can not control the horses, it becomes rainy
and cloudy because whenever the chariot streaks the skies, it pushes away all the
badness. The light pushes them away. It is said that a couple million years ago, that
the sun fell to the Earth,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rumour has it that this was because his son was born, Phaeton, and Helios forgot
to drive the chariot across the sky. Since then, Helios vowed that he will never let
that happen again. So he left his family and never saw them again. It was a hard
sacrifice, but it was very important that he did that. Phaeton grew up with his
mortal mother, he was bullied at school for telling his peers that his dad was the
sun. One day phaeton had enough and ran out of the school angrily. As he was
walking to his house, it appeared like the sun had gotten brighter. Phaeton looks into
the sun but was not blinded by it. Instead he saw the sun chariot with the shape of a
human being in it. Phaeton runs home and tells his mother what he saw, but his
mother only acted like he was crazy. He asks his mother where his dad was and she
pointed up. Meaning that he died but really she meant that he was in the sky. But
Phaeton did not understand that part. He believed that she meant that his father was
dead. When night came, the mother and son went to sleep in their rooms, and the
mother had a visitor. It was Helios, this upset the mother and caused her to yell at
him to be at home more
The Unfair Experiences of Transgender Inmates
In 1994, the US Supreme Court addressed prison rape for the first time when they
ruled that Dee Farmer, a transgender female inmate, was a victim of cruel and unusual
punishment under the Eighth Amendment. Though prison officials knew Dee
Farmer was a trans woman, they housed her in a male facility, where she was
repeatedly beaten and raped, and subsequently contracted HIV. Farmer argued that
prisonofficials knew that she was vulnerable and at risk for assault but failed to do
anything to address the issue. The US Supreme Court ruled that the prison officials
violated the Eighth Amendment by commit[ing] an act or omission accompanied by
deliberate indifference to a substantial risk of serious harm to an inmate (Maruri,
2011, p. 819). Since 1994, several cases related have pushed the issue of transgender
inmates in the national conversation. Most recently, Chelsea Manning, who was
charged with releasing confidential US military documents came out as transgender
over the course of her trial. This helped to focus attention on the experience of
transgender inmates in prison . Through the lens of the prison industrial complex, I
will explore the experiences of transgender, intersex, and gendernonconforming
inmates (TIGNC), a population subjected to gross human rights violations as wards
of the State. Although the term transgender is most commonly used to someone who
does not identify with their sex assigned at birth, those who identify as intersex or

1.Visual arts of the Classical Era consist of symmetry, harmony, balance within the

calmness.
The Classical Era comes after the Baroque Era in 1750. Music has a phrase structure
with a question and an answer. A phrase can be repeated many times with minor
changes. The texture is often homophonic, with tune and accompaniment, may move
to polyphonic. It has a regular rhythm with pauses with th variation from long note
values to short. Gradual dynamic change which is more contrasting compare to

Radiocarbon Dating Accurate
Radiocarbon dating, which is quite often referred to as Carbon 14, or C14, is
probably used the most of all absolute dating techniques. The method is used to
date all sorts of artifacts including bones, cloth, and wood, in addition to plants. For
artifacts up to about 50,000 years old, it is one of the most specific methods of
dating available. In the late 1940 s, C 14 was developed by Willard Libby.
Archeologists use this dating method, which is the standard in the scientific industry
to this date. According to the Kelly Long in Why is Radiocarbon DatingImportant to
Archeology, In 1948, American chemist Willard Liberty, who worked on the
development of the atomic bomb, published the first set of development in absolute
dating in archeology... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is an objective method that provides more accurate ages of artifacts by measuring
the amount of C14 present in the artifact and comparing it to an already known
reference artifact. According to Michael Gagne, in Dating in Archeology, Following
the death of an organism, any exchange ceases and the carbon 14, which is
radioactive and therefore unstable, slowly begins to disintegrate at a known rate
(half life of 5730 years, ie, after this period only half of the total carbon 14 present
at the time of death remains). The amount of carbon 14 remaining in the material to
date is compared to a reference standard (ratio 14C/total carbon, 12C and 13C) to
calculate the time elapsed since its occurrence. (Gagne, p. 1) This method actually is
based on a something that occurs every day on earth and is the foundation of life.
Think about it... all living species on Earth including plants and animals exchange
carbon dioxide with their environment until they die. Marshall Brain in How Carbon
14 Dating Works describes simply how C14 dating works. Simply said, the way
the process works is by measuring the amount of C14 in the artifact, which forms
naturally when cosmic rays in the earth s upper atmosphere strike nitrogen
molecules and oxidize to become carbon dioxide. Plants then absorb and
continually replenish carbon dioxide until the plant dies or it passes onto animals
that eat the plants. After the death of the organism, the amount of C14 in the
organism or artifact decreases at a regular pace as decaying occurs. Since C14 has a
half life of 5,730 plus or minus 40 years, the object loses half of its C14 about every
5,700 years. Once the organism dies, it stops taking on new carbon so the ratio of
C12 to C14 is the same for every organism. Therefore, the age of and artifact can be
determined fairly accurately if scientists compare the ratio of C12 to C14 in an
artifact and compare it to the ratio in a
Agape By Greek Summary
Slide 1:
Nisan
In English, there is only one word for love. In Greek, there are three. Eros is the
physical love, Philia is brotherly love, or sisterly love shared amongst siblings and
close friends. Agape is a love that gives and asks nothing in return.
All three can be experienced in different varieties, but each carries great burdens. Eros
must remember that the other is a living, breathing being, not just an object. Philia
must not take unjust, selfish advantage of the other. Agape does all those things
above and much more, with no expectation of return. Agape is a love that does not
require that the other should meet high standards of beauty, nor of brains, nor of
brawn. Agape gives without question, or reason, a God love, you might say,
something that Hephaestus wasn t seen as worthy of.

Letters from an American Farmer Essay
We Are America
America a land known for its ideals of freedom and new opportunities, a nation built
under the idea that every man and women is created equal. However, the definition of
what makes a person an American is entirely different from what it is that makes up
America, itself. J.Hector St. John Crevecoeur, author of Letters from an American
Farmer (1782), exposes what he believes makes an American. However, when
compared to the standards of what makes an American in today s world, it seems that
becoming an American then was much simpler then, than it is today. The definitionof
an American is always evolving due to the influences of our changing nation. During
a simpler time, Crevecoeur defined an American as someone of European ... Show

Scram Jet Essay
The SCRAMJET, simply abbreviated from Supersonic Combustion Ramjet, is the
latest evolution of the jet engine family. NASA made the news with each test of the
X 43A scramjet craft, so I set about to discover why this type of jet engine should
garner so much scientific attention. Turbojet The most basic jet engine is the turbojet.
As soon as the air enters the front of the engine, the blades of the compressor,
compresses the air before funneling it into the combustion chamber. During the
compression, not only is the density of the air increased by compressing it in a
confined chamber, but the temperature of the air also increases as the air molecules
of squeezed closer together. The resulting air that emerges into the... Show more

Turboprop The turboprop (turbo propeller) engine combines the simple propeller
engine with that of the turbojet. In this case, in addition to driving the compressor,
the turbine also drives a propeller. The propeller provides thrust like a normal
propeller (the wedge shape of the blades pushes the air back), in addition to the thrust
produced by the turbojet part of the engine. Ramjet The ramjet engine is a much
simpler construction than either the propeller or turbojet engine. Unlike these the
other engines that require moving parts (propeller, compressor, turbine, shaft, etc),
the ramjet consists basically of a tube that scoops the air into the combustion chamber
where it is mixed with fuel and ignited, and exhausts the hot gasses through the
necked down exhaust nozzle. Because of the high speeds of operation, instead of
compressing the air, the chamber of the ramjet actually expands and thereby slows
the air to subsonic speeds for the combustion process. The force of the incoming air
forces the combustion to be kept behind the inlet. Because of this fact, the engine
cannot be operated at subsonic velocities (Velocities below Mach 1 One time the
speed of sound or roughly 740 mph at standard temperature and pressure). Hence
another engine has to accelerate the plane to the point where the ramjet can function.
On the other hand, because of its simplistic construction, the ramjet engine can
Art Is An Important Part Of Education
What is art? Is it just painting or can it be a number of creations, such as, music,
dancing, theater, pictures, sculptures, poems, stories, or videos. When I think of art,
I think of all of these different creations listed as art. Art is anything that can inspire
a person, or create feelings from looking, touching, or hearing. The definition of art
is the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a
visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated
primarily for their beauty or emotional power (google.com). Art is a way for humans
to communicate what they feel in their hearts. Although, some people may not agree
that art is an important part of educationwithout it education could have been lost
today. In the past ten years that I know of, art has slowly been fading away in the
educational environment. This can be any subject from: theater, dance, band, and
even just art classes in general. Our education has slowly started to only focus on
core academic classes. While some people in our education system may not
perceive this as a true fact; there is evidence to support that art has declined in
public education. For theater and dance in elementary schools, the percentages of
schools making these art forms available went from 20 percent 10 years ago to only
4 and 3 percent, respectively, in the 2009 10 schoolyear. In addition, at more than 40
percent of secondary schools, coursework in the art was not

Use Of Dramatic Irony In The Odyssey
In Homer s epic, The Odyssey, Homer deliberately uses dramatic irony to convey his
message to his audience and reader. Dramatic irony is when the character does not
realize the reality or truth of a situation and the audience does because the author has
presented clues to the audience. In the episode, Meeting of Father and Son , Homer
uses dramatic ironyin order for his audience to feel suspense and infer the
significant meaning of his text. Homers audience was the people of ancient Greece
who were actively listening to his great epic. In addition to this, the speaker of the
episode could use this dramatic irony to entertain their audience. By using dramatic
irony it allows the audience to have an active role and to fully understand the reality

It stayed that way for some time accompanied by that exclusive and ever present

that has prevented loggers from our nation s woodlands. Without appropriate logging
management in place, forests become overgrown and destabilized and when faced
with the deadly duo of drought and lightning strikes, woodlands become susceptible
to igniting into towering infernos.
Federal firefighters are often successful in knocking down these conflagrations and
throughout the years have become victims of their own success as much biomass
underbrush has not only remained, but multiplied. All that does is become the
kindling for the next, inescapable bout of forest fire.
For more than a century, the standing federal policy has been to extinguish all fires.
Let it burn is completely left out of the equation. In fact, such thinking is an
anathema to any seasoned firefighter. According to one longtime, prominent fire
official, Greg Fabrizo of Coal Township, PA, a controlled fire can be the most capable
and cost effective means available for managing woodlands.
If the federal government had allowed a place like Yellowstone to have contained
burns when fire does irrupt, they would have avoided their biblical like conflagration
that provided so much destruction back in 1990.
Let it burn should be law. Healthy forests need to burn on a semi regular basis. If
they don t, they are nothing but firestorms in waiting.

A Research Study On Serial Killers
Summary of the research question and outcome
My research project topic was slightly motivated by a murder in the family around 20
years ago. Hearing about this was overwhelming and made me think about murderers
themselves, and what motivated them to commit murder and whether these reasons
could be categorised. Preliminary research identified that serial killers are people
who have committed two or more discrete murders, either acting alone or with
another person. A number of secondary sources present information stating that serial
killers usually fall into the following categories: Visionary, Mission Oriented,
Hedonistic and Power/Control. The outcome is in the form of an essay explaining
the most common serial killers motives. The key finding from my research is that
serial killers are not motivated by one particular reason, but there are many other
explanations as to why they commit such a heinous crime or are motivated to commit
murder.

Joseph Conrad s novella, Heart of Darkness, effectively exposed the racism that was
common during his lifetime. Through the harsh behavior and word choice of the
characters and narrator, Conrad displays the uncivilized treatment of nonwhites that
occurred during the period of colonization. Edward Garnett, an English writer and
critic, summarized the plot of Heart of Darknessas being an impression... of the
civilizing methods of a certain great European Trading Company face to face with

This similar description reveals the fact that Marlow did not see much of a
difference between the Africans and the savage beasts of Africa. A famous criticism
of Conrad s novella is called An Image of Africa, which was written by an African
native named Chinua Achebe. In Achebe s criticisms of Heart of Darkness, he points
out the difference between descriptions of the European woman and the African
woman, who was Kurtz s mistress. The narrator describes the European woman as
being calm and mature, and the African woman as being savage (341 Norton). Even
though many writers claim that Marlow is kind to the Africans by bringing light to
their situation, the real problem does not lie in his description of their situations, but
his descriptions of the people themselves (30 Heart of darkness Interpretations).
Throughout the novella, it seems as if the narrator is describing the Africans as
being almost human, but not quite. There seems to be a line drawn between African
and European that is much thicker than country borders. In a description of a sick
boy, the narrator says, the man seemed young almost a boy but you know with them
it s hard to tell (17 Norton). This statement may seem harmless, but it is completely
unnecessary. It reveals how few interactions Marlow had with the Africans, and his
use of the word them creates a ethnical barrier. Along with negative descriptions of
Africans, Marlow also uses a great amount of racial slurs when speaking
The Importance Of Transgenders In The Military
Is it right that Donald Trump bans transgenders that have the capability to fight and
train like everyone else? Serving for the military is a great opportunity that has been
taken away from transgenders, that deserve that opportunity, and here s three reasons
that transgenders should be able to serve. Three reasons why transgenders should
stay in the military are they shouldn t be kicked out and deployed out of the military
despise their gender. The military will lose approximately 15,000 active troops that
were doing an amazing job at serving our country. Finally because the Donald Trump
claims that the medical cost is too much, but training and getting troops up to
readiness standards will cost more money.
First, Transgender military troops should serve in the military, because any
American who meets current medical and readiness standards should have the right
to serve in the military. They got rid of transgenders in the military, because they
don t want to pay for medical bills when a lot of the transgenders that serve in the
military have already had their surgeries done. For example, There is no reason to
force service members who can fight, train, and deploy to leave the military
regardless of their gender identity. If they can do exactly what everyone else can do,
they don t have the right to ban them from serving our country, despise their gender.
According to Ada Edelman, No American, no matter their sexual orientation or
gender identity, should be prohibited

Allusions In Death In Venice
The reader familiar with ancient Greek mythology will find dozens of allusions to
classical Greek myths in Thomas Mann s Death in Venice. Mann examines an ancient
conflict rooted in classical mythology: the imbalance of Apollonian and Dionysian
qualities. Mann, inspired by writer Friedrich Nietzsche, alludes to the necessity of
balance between Apollonian and Dionysian qualities in an artist in order to produce
balanced and quality art. Mann incorporates Nietzsche s understanding that when
Apollonian and Dionysian qualities are imbalanced, the artist will eventually fail due

portico displaying an apocalyptic scene. The man is carrying a walking stick and
wearing a wide brimmed straw hat. The scene fills Aschenbach with a desire to
travel, the first instance where the reader sees his Apollonian side degrading. The
tourist references the Greek god Hermes. Hermes is the god of thieves who travels
between the mortal world and the underworld. He carries dead souls to the
afterlife. Hermes is known for wearing a wide brimmed straw hat and carrying a
staff (Skidmore). The tourist Aschenbach sees is a traveler wearing the same thing
while he is standing in the mortal world underneath a scene of underworld beasts
alluding to being in between two worlds like Hermes. Mann uses this reference to
Hermes to foreshadow Aschenbach taking a journey to the underworld. In Andre von
Gronicka s essay Myth plus Psychology, he suggests that Aschenbach is being lured,
hypnotized into a contract, the terms of which are final and fatal . Despite this
ominous warning, Aschenbach decides to take a vacation to Venice. He boards a
gondola to take him to Venice. The gondola to Venice alludes to the journey to the
underworld by crossing the River Styx. The Hermes reference Aschenbach encounters

A Report On Vehicle Communication Network
1.Introduction
Since the market demands get varied and segmented, automotive manufacturers have
been focus on improving users driving experience for a long period while developing
advanced electronic based technologies, with respect to requirements such as
convenience, safety, fuel efficiency and etc. However, with more functions achieved,
a large quantity of wires individually connected to different electronical control units
needs to be conducted in order to transfer signals from sensors, thus making the entire
vehicle system significantly complex, heavy, costly and less reliable. This issue was
foreseen by engineers and could not be solved properly until the introduction of
vehicle communication network in which electronic control units interchanges
information alone the bus with much less wirings required.t Within the following
sections, in order to ensure accuracy for final investigation result, a Toyota Prius
2012 model are researched in terms of how information required is processed by each
control unit after being detected by those sensors related. Based upon investigation
mentioned, discussion on benefits of using in vehicle network will be further taken
with respect to weight and cost savings.

Long shifts may get you tired, you may not have a lunch break because you are working non stop but you could care less. All you care about is impacting the lives of others. You are constantly putting others before yourself. Florence Nightingale was a remarkable woman who did exactly this. Nightingale was born in Florence Italy, on May 12, 1820. Florence advised the army on sanitary conditions in India during and after the Indian Mutiny in 1857. This led to the establishment of a Sanitary Department within the Indian government. Her reports and testimony to others on sanitary conditions of the army led to a lot of improvements that also led to opening an army medical college in 1861. Florence also intended to write a book to help others on practicing how to become a nurse and how nursing can be used in future preferences. Aside from all of that Florence helped establish many nursing organizations throughout her whole life. Doing what she did for others she won awards for the work that she did. In the 1870 s, she mentored Linda Richards, the first professionally trained American nurse, who established nurse training programs in the U.S. and Japan. Back then when Parks was alive, everything was different from now. She lived in the culture of the century before me. When she was dying, I was just a baby. Since then the laws, religion, clothing, ceremony, and activities have changed completely. Rosa Parks was a black girl who grew up in a world made for whites. She had to worry about many more things back in the day then people do now with her color. All the laws were in favor of whites and discriminated blacks. Rosa, everytime she would meet a white person, they would act like they were over her and they were better than her. She was six years old and lived in the rural Level, Alabama. (Then, she was very frail and sickly.) Moses Hudson and his wife lived next door to Rosa, her mother, Leona McCauley, her baby brother Sylvester, and her grandparents. Hudson was a white man so whenever he was near, they would have to act different and unusual to say the least. If they did not show respect and politeness, their lives could be over. One day, he brought over a white young man whom he presented as his son in law. He got introduced to Rosa and acted different than what usually white people act to blacks. He patted her on the head and commented on how cute of a little girl she was. Seventy years later, she still remembered this historic time in her life when a white treated her like a regular girl. In my lifetime, I never had to

This is currently occurring in Sudan, where millions of refugees are fleeing the country in hope for a better life in refugee camps in neighboring countries or even being resettled in a more peaceful community. This process for finding safety and later resettling can be connected back to the book Outcasts United where refugees of war assimilated countries resettle into the US in hope for starting a new life. The genociders are Sudan s Arab dominated government and nomadic Arab militia groups known as the Janjaweed. Darfur s residents have suffered from discrimination, lack of resources, education, health services, etc. There is a large gap between the resources that the government has invested in Darfur and those invested in riverine Sudan. A fact that clearly illustrates the lack of safety towards the Muslims in the Darfur region is, Thousands of villages were destroyed, pillaged, burned to the ground, and residents dislocated and killed amongst the violence. Only the villages of African tribes were bombed and attacked; nearby Arab villages were left unharmed, (Combat Genocide 1). This quote emphasizes the fact that because of the violence occurring, residents are getting killed or being force to be dislocated. In 2009 the United Nations estimated that there were 2.7 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Darfur and approximately 270,000 refugees in eastern Chad (Combat Genocide 1). The battles between the rebel groups and the Janjaweed spread into Chad, which led to tensions between Chad and Sudan. Chad had huge problems with dealing with the huge number of refugees (Combat Genocide 1). In the refugee camps, the Janjaweed captured, attacked and raped women when they go outside refugee camps to collect firewood. Many refugees who fled their homes continued to flee from repeat attacks by the Janjaweed throughout Darfur. The genocide of the Darfur people have clearly taken a toll on the persecuted people, creating a life of violence for

The story is set in the year 1944, in the country side of a post Civil War Spain. A young and imaginative girl named Ofelia, played by Ivana Baquero, travels with her pregnant mother, Carmen Vidal, who is very ill; in order to meet and live with her stepfather, a cruel and sadistic man named Capitan Vidal (Sergi Lopez). He uses these most prominently to depict the film s villain as an authoritarian, power hungry, and cruel man. This harsh commander has total power over the rural town that he inhabits and the steely blue lighting is able to demonstrate that immaculately. It illustrates a gloomy atmosphere that he himself has created, as whenever there are scenes set in his village, the cold blue tones are cast over the screen. The blue lighting is there to highlight that the events in reality are cold natured and unjust. He speaks only in a short and sharp manner, consistently ordering other s about. The techniques by del Toro are used to manipulate the viewer s attitude towards Vidal thus giving a strict, controlling, and heartless impression of him. Lighting is used as a major technique in this film as it is often used to set the mood. Due to Vidal s world always being shown enveloped in blue grey hue, it immediately shows the viewers that is isn t a welcoming place to be. This shade of lighting helps create a detached feeling which is in great contrast to the golden, homely, and warm lighting of Ofelia s fantasy world portraying a safe and enchanting atmosphere. This is most apparent at the end of the film when Ofelia is lying in the labyrinth close to death. When Vidal has just shot her, dark blue shadows loom into the air, they begin to

The second was a video about a comeback for Pandas. In the first article written by the University of Adelaide, it discusses how the nutrient pollution that is emptying into the seas from cities, towns and agricultural land is changing the sounds that are made by marine life. Persuasive Essay On Forest Fires Forest fires are not uncommon in the west coast but rising temperatures and global climate change have been leading to drier and drier seasons in many areas, making wildfires a growing concern. The west coast has both the largest number of wildfires as well as the most severe, starting from 100 acres and above (Donegan, 2016). Southern California is a frequent location for wildfires each year due to its dry weather and hot temperatures during the summer, and the Santa Clarita region alone has had a 20% reduction in soil moisture. Though prison officials knew Dee Farmer was a trans woman, they housed her in a male facility, where she was repeatedly beaten and raped, and subsequently contracted HIV. Farmer argued that prisonofficials knew that she was vulnerable and at risk for assault but failed to do anything to address the issue. • 27. Radiocarbon Dating Accurate Radiocarbon dating, which is quite often referred to as Carbon 14, or C14, is probably used the most of all absolute dating techniques. The method is used to date all sorts of artifacts including bones, cloth, and wood, in addition to plants. For artifacts up to about 50,000 years old, it is one of the most specific methods of dating available. In the late 1940 s, C 14 was developed by Willard Libby. Archeologists use this dating method, which is the standard in the scientific industry to this date. According to the Kelly Long in Why is Radiocarbon DatingImportant to Archeology, In 1948, American chemist Willard Liberty, who worked on the development of the atomic bomb, published the first set of development in absolute dating in archeology... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is an objective method that provides more accurate ages of artifacts by measuring the amount of C14 present in the artifact and comparing it to an already known reference artifact. According to Michael Gagne, in Dating in Archeology, Following the death of an organism, any exchange ceases and the carbon 14, which is radioactive and therefore unstable, slowly begins to disintegrate at a known rate (half life of 5730 years, ie, after this period only half of the total carbon 14 present at the time of death remains). The amount of carbon 14 remaining in the material to date is compared to a reference standard (ratio 14C/total carbon, 12C and 13C) to calculate the time elapsed since its occurrence. (Gagne, p. 1) This method actually is based on a something that occurs every day on earth and is the foundation of life. Think about it... all living species on Earth including plants and animals exchange carbon dioxide with their environment until they die. Marshall Brain in How Carbon 14 Dating Works describes simply how C14 dating works. Simply said, the way the process works is by measuring the amount of C14 in the artifact, which forms naturally when cosmic rays in the earth s upper atmosphere strike nitrogen molecules and oxidize to become carbon dioxide. Plants then absorb and continually replenish carbon dioxide until the plant dies or it passes onto animals that eat the plants. After the death of the organism, the amount of C14 in the organism or artifact decreases at a regular pace as decaying occurs. Since C14 has a half life of 5,730 plus or minus 40 years, the object loses half of its C14 about every 5,700 years. Once the organism dies, it stops taking on new carbon so the ratio of C12 to C14 is the same for every organism. Therefore, the age of and artifact can be determined fairly accurately if scientists compare the ratio of C12 to C14 in an artifact and compare it to the ratio in a

Eros is the physical love, Philia is brotherly love, or sisterly love shared amongst siblings and close friends. Agape is a love that gives and asks nothing in return. All three can be experienced in different varieties, but each carries great burdens. Eros must remember that the other is a living, breathing being, not just an object. Philia must not take unjust, selfish advantage of the other. Agape does all those things above and much more, with no expectation of return. Agape is a love that does not require that the other should meet high standards of beauty, nor of brains, nor of brawn. Letters from an American Farmer Essay We Are America America a land known for its ideals of freedom and new opportunities, a nation built under the idea that every man and women is created equal. However, the definition of what makes a person an American is entirely different from what it is that makes up America, itself. J.Hector St. John Crevecoeur, author of Letters from an American Farmer (1782), exposes what he believes makes an American. However, when compared to the standards of what makes an American in today s world, it seems that becoming an American then was much simpler then, than it is today. The definitionof an American is always evolving due to the influences of our changing nation. During a simpler time, Crevecoeur defined an American as someone of European ... America still believes in freedom and in being the land of opportunities even though time has changed some of America s original ideals. Nowadays, becoming an American is not as simple as entering America and obtaining land. For example, there is the process of applying for citizenship, something that has now become a big part of defining an American. NASA made the news with each test of the X 43A scramjet craft, so I set about to discover why this type of jet engine should garner so much scientific attention. Turbojet The most basic jet engine is the turbojet. As soon as the air enters the front of the engine, the blades of the compressor, compresses the air before funneling it into the combustion chamber. During the compression, not only is the density of the air increased by compressing it in a confined chamber, but the temperature of the air also increases as the air molecules of squeezed closer together. The resulting air that emerges into the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Turboprop The turboprop (turbo propeller) engine combines the simple propeller engine with that of the turbojet. In this case, in addition to driving the compressor, the turbine also drives a propeller. The propeller provides thrust like a normal propeller (the wedge shape of the blades pushes the air back), in addition to the thrust produced by the turbojet part of the engine. Ramjet The ramjet engine is a much simpler construction than either the propeller or turbojet engine. Unlike these the other engines that require moving parts (propeller, compressor, turbine, shaft, etc), the ramjet consists basically of a tube that scoops the air into the combustion chamber where it is mixed with fuel and ignited, and exhausts the hot gasses through the necked down exhaust nozzle. Because of the high speeds of operation, instead of compressing the air, the chamber of the ramjet actually expands and thereby slows the air to subsonic speeds for the combustion process. The force of the incoming air forces the combustion to be kept behind the inlet. Because of this fact, the engine cannot be operated at subsonic velocities (Velocities below Mach 1 One time the speed of sound or roughly 740 mph at standard temperature and pressure). Hence another engine has to accelerate the plane to the point where the ramjet can function. On the other hand, because of its simplistic construction, the ramjet engine can

When I think of art, I think of all of these different creations listed as art. Art is anything that can inspire a person, or create feelings from looking, touching, or hearing. The definition of art is the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power (google.com). Art is a way for humans to communicate what they feel in their hearts. Although, some people may not agree that art is an important part of educationwithout it education could have been lost today. In the past ten years that I know of, art has slowly been fading away in the educational environment. This can be any subject from: theater, dance, band, and even just art classes in general. Our education has slowly started to only focus on core academic classes. While some people in our education system may not perceive this as a true fact; there is evidence to support that art has declined in public education. For theater and dance in elementary schools, the percentages of schools making these art forms available went from 20 percent 10 years ago to only 4 and 3 percent, respectively, in the 2009 10 schoolyear. In addition, at more than 40 percent of secondary schools, coursework in the art was not

A famous criticism of Conrad s novella is called An Image of Africa, which was written by an African native named Chinua Achebe. In Achebe s criticisms of Heart of Darkness, he points out the difference between descriptions of the European woman and the African woman, who was Kurtz s mistress. The narrator describes the European woman as being calm and mature, and the African woman as being savage (341 Norton). Even though many writers claim that Marlow is kind to the Africans by bringing light to their situation, the real problem does not lie in his description of their situations, but his descriptions of the people themselves (30 Heart of darkness Interpretations). Throughout the novella, it seems as if the narrator is describing the Africans as being almost human, but not quite. There seems to be a line drawn between African and European that is much thicker than country borders. In a description of a sick boy, the narrator says, the man seemed young almost a boy but you know with them it s hard to tell (17 Norton). This statement may seem harmless, but it is completely unnecessary. It reveals how few interactions Marlow had with the Africans, and his use of the word them creates a ethnical barrier. Along with negative descriptions of Africans, Marlow also uses a great amount of racial slurs when speaking

Three reasons why transgenders should stay in the military are they shouldn t be kicked out and deployed out of the military despise their gender. The military will lose approximately 15,000 active troops that were doing an amazing job at serving our country. Finally because the Donald Trump claims that the medical cost is too much, but training and getting troops up to readiness standards will cost more money. First, Transgender military troops should serve in the military, because any American who meets current medical and readiness standards should have the right to serve in the military.
