My family celebrates Easter in spring each year by dyeing eggs with onion peels, having a dinner with fish and eggs, playing egg fights, and going on an egg hunt. My grandmother fasts beforehand and collects onion peels all year for dyeing. We also light candles and say prayers before our meal. In Italy, Easter is celebrated with parades featuring costumes and statues of Jesus, people dress in green and white and have feasts of lamb and bread, and play games like rolling wheels of cheese.

2. EASTER IN MY FAMILY
My family celebrates Easter in spring every year.
A few days before Easter my grandma starts a fast. She doesn’t eat anything that comes from animals.
The whole year my grandmother collects onion peels. We use the onion peels to dye eggs red.
On Easter evening we have dinner with the whole family. We have fish, red wine, rice with raisins and the eggs we dyed. I
don’t like fish or eggs so I eat the rice.
We play games with the eggs, like egg fights. During an egg fight you have to break your opponent’s egg with your own
egg. The egg fights are very fun.
My grandfather goes to church and brings us candles to burn. I like the candles and light them everyday.
Before drinking the red wine we say prayers.
We also have guests over. We eat and congratulate each other. Everyone wishes each other happiness.
After eating we go for an egg hunt. Someone
is chosen as the ‘Easter Bunny’ and hides the
eggs. The eggs are hidden very well and
finding them is difficult. But that’s good for
me because the harder, the more fun. The
winner earns a big chocolate egg with a
surprise in it.

3. EASTER IN ITALY
• In Italy Easter is a very happy holiday. People go to churches, where the Pope gives a
blessing. They also light the sky by burning huge crosses.
• On Easter people make statues of Jesus and have parades with them. Dancers dress in
ancient costumes and dance at the parades.
• On Sunday people dress in green and white, which are symbols of peace and hope. They
gather in one place and have a feast.
• They usually eat a lamb or goat with special Easter bread. People give each other chocolate
eggs with surprises in them as gifts.
• People play unusual games, like rolling big wheels made out of cheese around the village
walls. I would like to try that.
• And from this information, I can say that Italians really know how to party!!

4. MY WISH TO EVERYONE
• I wish everyone a very jolly Easter. I wish everyone a great life. I want everyone to be
happy forever. And last but not least… LETS PARTY!!
