Are we the heart of inclusion, diversity and equality? Eliminating exclusion by embracing lived experience - Elaine Chapman & Sarah-Anne Kennedy (Technological University Dublin)

  • 4. We need to make academia accessible in every way for single parents, those in poverty, disabled people, people from minority ethnicities, those who work, those who can only attend distance classes and more
  • 5. The key to accessibility is flexibility

  • 8. We need to look at restructuring our own systems too.

  • 11. Minorities not represented correctly Is there a Dewey Number for Irish Travellers?

  • 13. Starting Anew Equality versus Equity We need to tackle the systemic inequalities that exist in our society to create truly equal access.

  • 15. TU Dublin's Strategic Plan 3 Pillars: People Planet Partnership Organisation Design: Staff, students, and researchers all have an opportunity to shape it.

  • 17. Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion are at the heart of TU Dublin Library Services' design report.
  • 18. Aligns with the EDI principles of the University's strategic plan and Library Services' ethos. Applies to physical space and facilities as well as our teaching and learning through Universal Design for Learning. Was a key feature of stakeholder feedback Access & Universal Design Accessible
  • 19. IMPACT funded Library VR and AR Orientation Tour. Designed and developed by students for students with an aim to support students, in particular those with a disability, before they come on campus.
  • 20. IMPACT funded Building Multi-Stories project. Aim is to support ecological literacy, information literacy, and metaliteracy, while making advancements in diversifying the curriculum.
  • 21. AT 4 All We're partnering with this project to lend Assistive Tech and create maker-spaces in our libraries.
