This document discusses information literacy as an emancipatory process directed towards social inclusion. It examines the concept of information literacy and initiatives in Latin America to promote it. The author argues that information literacy should be conceived as a constructionist, emancipatory process based on Paulo Freire's vision of critical pedagogy. This process helps learners become aware of reality and empowered participants through skills, knowledge, values and critical thinking.
