Mercy for Earth seeks to increase public awareness, educate and mobilize the community by understanding environmental issues through research, the media and educational programs.
Environmental Education is facing new challenges. Despite significant achievements, from institutional agencies and others, it must be strengthened and project its expansion, thereby eliminating the slow bureaucratic aspects, creating new strategies of action, further opening of the social agencies and pursuing broader international commitments. Deepening in Environmental Education is the surest path to planetary transformation and survival of the human race.

Challenges teachers face in the integration of Environmental Education into t...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: This study focuses on the integration of environmental education into other subjects in the
school curriculum. The study critically examine challenges faced by various subject teachers in the process of
teaching environmental education as an integrated component in their subject areas. The role of teachers in the
implementation of environmental education in developing an environmentally literate citizenry is of great
significance. It was recommended among others that, the government should develop curriculum with clear
goals and content with specific guideline which shall develop teachers’ capacity in the teaching of
environmental education. Successful implementation of any educational policy, largely depends on teacher’s
competencies. Therefore all necessary steps should be taken to address challenges confronting teachers in the
implementation of EE as an integrated component.

Find readings for your global issues course. Provide context for environmental science students. Supplement your world geography textbook. “Reading into Action: Textbooks and Lessons to Engage Students with Global Sustainability” introduces Facing the Future’s two textbooks, Global Issues and Sustainable Solutions and It’s All Connected and shares how they can be used alongside the teacher’s guide Engaging Students through Global Issues. Attendees will hear about how educators are employing these curriculum resources - from using them as supplementary materials in middle and high school science and social studies, as building blocks for curriculum units, to making them the basis for a complete course.

The Multiple Dimensions of Wellness with Dr. Marc Cohen 01086
Start Date: April 14, 2011
End Date: April 14, 2011
Wellness is a multidimensional concept that is still evolving. The multiple dimensions of wellness are evident in the convergence of existing industries and disciplines. The wellness industry has emerged as a trillion dollar melting pot for a whole host of products and services that encourage enhanced health and wellbeing. Rather than merely selling products, wellness industries ultimately involve raising consciousness and thus must address issues of environmental sustainability, ecological design, social responsibility, corporate ethics, health and spirituality.
As an academic discipline, wellness represents an intersection of many disciplines including; the biological, health and physical sciences, engineering, business and design. This presentation will provide the background behind the development of Wellness as a new academic discipline and discuss future directions. Extent of Implementation of and Level of Participation in the Project Carbon ...INFOGAIN PUBLICATION
In response to the call for stewardship, De La Salle Philippines launched the Project Carbon Neutral in 2009. The implementation of this program is being spearheaded by the Lasallian Institute for the Environment (LIFE) and is participated in by all Lasallian schools in the Philippines. The main objective of Project Carbon Neutral or PCN is to benchmark and assess the status of the carbon footprint of De La Salle Philippines (DLSP), the network of Lasallian educational institutions, with the goal of achieving a “green” educational network that is carbon-neutral or better. Since its implementation in 2009, there has been no baseline study conducted along these areas. The extent of implementation and the level of participation of the Lasallian family were looked into in this study. The study surveyed a total of three hundred three (300) purposively sampled members of the De La Salle Lipa community. The mitigating measures of the PCN are perceived to be often implemented and priority is often shown by the Lasallian community. The Lasallian community is perceived to have moderate levels of participation as they often show priority and have fairly supported the activities of the PCN. Geared towards combating the identified problems, this action plan and monitoring and evaluation plan were drafted and put forward.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

38. Development Process: (1) Data Gathering
Since most of the Non-Profits don't know what they want for their websites, we
give them guide questions that will help us analyze what they would be needing.
(inventory of materials/reports, related websites, target audience, contents, sitemap, etc)
41. Development Process: Design
For a ready-for-implementation design, we tap our networks to make one
for us. Some Non-Profits are just given the skills to produce their own
designs.
42. Development Process: Layout and Design
Notice that we separated design from layout. Designs are not our development's
prerequisite. We start the site development right after we gather data and layout, even
if no design/theme is available yet.
43. Development Process: (3) Site Development
We deliver outputs set by set. We accomplish the functionalities first, then comes the
design/theme after. In the for-profit world, they call this as Scrum Development.
44. Development Process: (4) Feedback
We set schedules of when to send updates. We sometimes conduct personal meetings
to discuss about the outputs.
45. Development Process: (5) Site Training
We focus on finishing the site's functionalities before the design so that when we do,
we can already train non-profits' staff to write/upload contents to their site.
46. Development Process: (6) Content Writing
It is not necessary that we finish the whole website first before we turn it over to them.
After we upload the initial and functioning site, we now work simultaneously. We do the
development, they populate the site with their contents.

As much as we can, we stick to original designs. Sometimes, when non-profits finally
knew what they want, they tend to add so many tiny little things on their site. If you'll
enterntain changes, you'll get stuck. We usually do modifications after we almost get all
the functionalities done.
54. DOs and DON'Ts
You just don't develop and give them websites. You also teach them
understand what it is, how it works, its importance, etc. Learn how to talk
to non-techies.
55. DOs and DON'Ts

Since not all non-profits have IT persons in their organizations, you
have to train them until they learn how to do things on their own.

Drupal has proved that.
