Introduction to Module Development - Drupalgauravkumar87
Creating Modules to make Drupal Dance: An Introduction
This is a hands-on introductory course on module development. We start by introducing the structure of a well-written module and place it in the context of Drupal's architecture. Sometimes you will come across an existing module that almost does what you need but not quite -- we will talk about to extend that module. Occasionally you simply have to write a new module from scratch. You will have your ownl development sandbox as we work through the Drupal API. You will leave the class sufficient understanding of Drupal’s menu, form and hook systems and the database. Below is the sequence in which topics will be covered.
Drupal Architecture -- Technology Stack, Code Base, Database.
Module Architecture -- Difference between Core, Contributed, Custom Module
Building Blocks of module -- Different types of files and why we use them
How to create simple page using hook_menu
How to create a simple block using hook_block that can be displayed in any region.
How to create schema using hook_install and hook_schema
How to create a simple form using hook_form and various actions like validate and submit.
How to display messages and errors using drupal_set_message and drupal_set_error functions.
How to alter existing forms using hook_form_alter
How to theme a simple block using theme functions
How to set permissions using hook_perm to view the page created in step 4
How to use hook_nodeapi to do node operations
A demo module will be built using all the above hooks to demonstrate how various hooks works

Building University Websites with the Drupal Content Management SystemMark Jarrell
The University web site is more prominent and expected to have more functionality than ever before. How can a small team of developers stay on top of the latest trends in web application development and design while also maintaining the many bits and pieces that comprise a university web portal? One possible solution to this problem is the very popular content management system called Drupal. In this session we''ll cover: * What is Drupal? * How does it work? * Who uses Drupal (in Tennessee and around the world)? * What are the benefits of this system? * How do we get started using it?
Memorial Sloan Kettering: Adventures in Drupal 8Phase2
Memorial Sloan Kettering is preparing to launch two websites in Drupal 8. As one of the first organizations to migrate its Drupal 6 content management system onto an enterprise Drupal 8 platform, Memorial Sloan Kettering has learned first hand the major challenges and advantages of building in Drupal 8.
In this session, project members from MSK, Phase2, and Digitas will explore the decision to take the leap to Drupal 8 and the reality of building in D8 while it is still a beta. Get details on the brute force migration process, front-end integrations and wiring up with twig in practice, and community contributions to accelerate Drupal 8 in the process of a flagship redesign for one of the leaders in the healthcare space.
We’ll elaborate on the challenges we faced and strategies we used to build on Drupal 8 and how you can learn from them!
Finally, we’ll answer some of your most burning questions:
How did you accomplish moving an existing Drupal 6 site with 25,000 plus pages of content to Drupal 8 while redesigning at the same time?
Should other organizations consider building in Drupal 8?
What tools and best practices were used by developers/sys admins?
What contrib modules are being used?
How difficult was it for the team to learn Drupal 8?
What is being used for layout and webforms? What external libraries and APIs are being used?

SOCRadar Research Team: Latest Activities of IntelBrokerSOCRadar
The European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol) has suffered an alleged data breach after a notorious threat actor claimed to have exfiltrated data from its systems. Infamous data leaker IntelBroker posted on the even more infamous BreachForums hacking forum, saying that Europol suffered a data breach this month.
The alleged breach affected Europol agencies CCSE, EC3, Europol Platform for Experts, Law Enforcement Forum, and SIRIUS. Infiltration of these entities can disrupt ongoing investigations and compromise sensitive intelligence shared among international law enforcement agencies.
However, this is neither the first nor the last activity of IntekBroker. We have compiled for you what happened in the last few days. To track such hacker activities on dark web sources like hacker forums, private Telegram channels, and other hidden platforms where cyber threats often originate, you can check SOCRadar’s Dark Web News.

Climate Science Flows: Enabling Petabyte-Scale Climate Analysis with the Eart...Globus
The Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF) is a global network of data servers that archives and distributes the planet’s largest collection of Earth system model output for thousands of climate and environmental scientists worldwide. Many of these petabyte-scale data archives are located in proximity to large high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud computing resources, but the primary workflow for data users consists of transferring data, and applying computations on a different system. As a part of the ESGF 2.0 US project (funded by the United States Department of Energy Office of Science), we developed pre-defined data workflows, which can be run on-demand, capable of applying many data reduction and data analysis to the large ESGF data archives, transferring only the resultant analysis (ex. visualizations, smaller data files). In this talk, we will showcase a few of these workflows, highlighting how Globus Flows can be used for petabyte-scale climate analysis.

How to Position Your Globus Data Portal for Success Ten Good PracticesGlobus
Science gateways allow science and engineering communities to access shared data, software, computing services, and instruments. Science gateways have gained a lot of traction in the last twenty years, as evidenced by projects such as the Science Gateways Community Institute (SGCI) and the Center of Excellence on Science Gateways (SGX3) in the US, The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) and its platforms in Australia, and the projects around Virtual Research Environments in Europe. A few mature frameworks have evolved with their different strengths and foci and have been taken up by a larger community such as the Globus Data Portal, Hubzero, Tapis, and Galaxy. However, even when gateways are built on successful frameworks, they continue to face the challenges of ongoing maintenance costs and how to meet the ever-expanding needs of the community they serve with enhanced features. It is not uncommon that gateways with compelling use cases are nonetheless unable to get past the prototype phase and become a full production service, or if they do, they don't survive more than a couple of years. While there is no guaranteed pathway to success, it seems likely that for any gateway there is a need for a strong community and/or solid funding streams to create and sustain its success. With over twenty years of examples to draw from, this presentation goes into detail for ten factors common to successful and enduring gateways that effectively serve as best practices for any new or developing gateway.

Understanding Globus Data Transfers with NetSageGlobus
NetSage is an open privacy-aware network measurement, analysis, and visualization service designed to help end-users visualize and reason about large data transfers. NetSage traditionally has used a combination of passive measurements, including SNMP and flow data, as well as active measurements, mainly perfSONAR, to provide longitudinal network performance data visualization. It has been deployed by dozens of networks world wide, and is supported domestically by the Engagement and Performance Operations Center (EPOC), NSF #2328479. We have recently expanded the NetSage data sources to include logs for Globus data transfers, following the same privacy-preserving approach as for Flow data. Using the logs for the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) as an example, this talk will walk through several different example use cases that NetSage can answer, including: Who is using Globus to share data with my institution, and what kind of performance are they able to achieve? How many transfers has Globus supported for us? Which sites are we sharing the most data with, and how is that changing over time? How is my site using Globus to move data internally, and what kind of performance do we see for those transfers? What percentage of data transfers at my institution used Globus, and how did the overall data transfer performance compare to the Globus users?

6. Let's look at how to install Drupal 7 on XAMPP
Drupal 7 requires MySQL 5.0.15 or higher with PDO or
PostgreSQL 8.3 or higher with PDO or SQLite 3.3.7 or higher which
are included in the latest version of XAMPP, so you don't need to install
them individually.
7. 1) Download Drupal
Go to https://drupal.org/project/drupal, and download the latest
recommended release of Drupal.
9. 4) Keep Drupal in the "htdocs" folder of XAMPP
• The "drupal" folder should be kept inside the XAMPP's
"htdocs" folder. To do this, copy the “drupal” folder which was
mentioned in step 2, and paste it inside the “htdocs” folder.
Generally, the “htdocs” folder is found at “C:xampphtdocs”.
• The folder path should look like “C:xampphtdocsdrupal”.
• You can see the contents of the "drupal" folder.
10. 5) Start a web browser and go to "localhost/drupal"
Click on “ Save and
continue” button.
