Essay On Harlem Renaissance
Harlem renaissance refers to a period of African American art being reborn as an
expressive art form starting after WW1 in 1918 and ending in the mid 1930s.
At the time the art movement was called The new Negro Movement but the more
political correct name The Harlem Renaissance was later used to describe the period.
Renaissance means a renewed interest in something and Harlem is being used to
describe the primary place of where this renewed interest took place. The renewed
interest was that the African American living in the same area Harlem used their
energy to create their own art form. Many African Americanwanted to live like the
white Americans and the fashion and entertainment reflected that wish.

The whole period was full of hope and the synergy in Harlem helped everybody to

The period is attached to Harlem in New York because Harlem had a big
concentration of African Americans, who had migrated from the south to find better
jobs in the north. The cultural movements really took place in the North and included
the Northeast and Midwest of America too.
The reason why the renaissance period happen must have something to do with the
fact that after slavery was abolished in 1885 and the African Americans became free,
they started to attend schools and 35 years later the more educated African Americans
were ready to explore their own inheritance.
They wanted to resettle as free people and have an independent identity away from
Cause Of Death In Romeo And Juliet
Death is extremely unfortunate. It greatly impacts the loved ones of the victim
and can cause tremendous emotional damage to people. However, death is a
symptom, whether it is a natural death from old age or an untimely death from
accidents and mistakes. While death cannot always be prevented, its cause may be
analysed to obtain new information or knowledge to prevent additionally
casualties. This is especially true of the deaths of Romeo and Juliet in William
Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet. Set in the renaissance era, the young lovers
Romeo and Juliet from opposing families pursuit a secret and forbidden love amidst
the chaos of the family feud in Verona. Their love was difficult and the lovers

In addition, Lord Capulet failed to stop Tybalt s rage and was too forceful to Juliet.
Firstly, the feud between the Montagues and Capulets contributed to the deaths of
the lovers. This is seen when the chorus states in the prologue, Two households,
both alike in dignity... From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil
blood makes civil hands clean (I, Prologue, 1 4). This refers to the long standing
feud between the Montagues and Capulets, which is the primary source of conflict
in the play. This feud between the families resulted in the love between Romeo and
Juliet to be forbidden, which caused great difficulty for the lovers. Therefore, if the
parents would forgive the other family and end the feud, Romeo and Juliet would
have likely been able to safely fall in love and marry, perhaps their love would even
be encouraged, thus avoid their unnecessary deaths. Secondly, Lord Capulet failed to
contain Tybalt s anger, which eventually led to Romeo s banishment, causing
complications and the lover s deaths. During the Capulet party, Tybalt had discovered
that Romeo attended uninvited, as a result, Tybalt was furious and intended to slay
Romeo, but Lord Capulet intervened and stopped Tybalt. However, Lord Capulet
failed to prevent Tybalt from issuing his challenge the next day, leading to the death
of Tybalt and the banishment of Romeo. Due to Lord Capulet s failure to prevent
Tybalt s violent outburst, a series of events was set in motion: where Tybalt killed
Mercutio, and in a rage, Romeo slew Tybalt, resulting in his banishment. This was a
contributing factor in the deaths of the lovers, as Romeo s banishment presented
obstacles to the transfer of information, leading to the lovers suicides. Lastly, Lord
Capulet forcing Juliet to marry Paris was another factor contributing to Romeo and
Juliet s deaths. Without
The Role Of Business In The Godfather
The Godfather by Francis Ford Coppola introduces the lifestyle of an Italian
American mobster family in New York. This film shows an authentic perspective of
mobs in the 40 s and 50 s. We see that family business is very important in this film.
But Michael Corleone put it best, It s not personal, it s strictly business. This
relationship between the Corleone Familyand business is what shows up multiple
times throughout the movie. In the movie we see a difference between Vito and his
son Michael Corleone. Vito is the norm for what a superior leader should be. He is
caring for his family and also very strong when it comes to business. He is also a man
of his word. On the flip side if you cross him, he will take matters into his own hands.

to this the way Michael sets himself up in the chair shows that he is in charge and

Macbeth is going to kill Macduff s wife, children, and anyone who gets in his way
of gaining the title of king and power that comes with it. Macbeth is selfish and is
willing to kill another family so that his family continues to be the heir of the throne.
Those are just a few examples of how Macbeth turned to violence in order to gain
power.
Not only does Macbeth result to violence and do things he would not normally do
for power, but Lady Macbeth does the same. One example of Lady Macbeth is at
the beginning of the play when a messenger arrives and tells her that the king is on
the way to her castle. She then decides that she is going to do everything she can
get Macbeth and herself the crown. Come, you spirits that tend on mortal

Difference Between Adorno And Max Horkheimer
The Culture Industry Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer Theodor Adorno and
Max Horkheimer are known as two great critical theorists who are primarily known
for their work The Culture Industry: Enlightenment as Mass Deception. Adorno and
Horkheimer originally were members of the Frankfurt School, which was a group of
scholars that were a part of the revival of Marxist thought. Adorno and Horkheimer
were third wave scholars of Marxist thought which meant that they were concerned
about the occurrence of the communist revolution. However, the revolution never
took off instead the spread of fascism and Hitler s regime occurred. Adorno and
Horkheimer, both of Jewish descent, were forced to flee to New York. The Culture

A criticism made by Adorno and Horkheimer that is still relevant to the modern
movie industry is the criticism that the people at the top are no longer so
interested in concealing monopoly...Movies and radio need no longer pretend to be
art (Adorno and Horkheimer). The modern movie industry is an industry of
commodities in sense, what this means is that the movies produced today are
produced simply as means for profit and not as form of art. As Adorno and
Horkheimer stated the movie makers distrust any manuscript which is not
reassuringly backed by a bestseller (Adorno and Horkheimer) this attitude can be
seen by simply observing the Avengers, Spider man and Transformers franchises.
These types of movies are given top priority at movie studios simply because they
are movies with large target audiences and the movie studios know that they will
bring in mass amounts of profits. These types of movies often lack substance of
any kind for example take the Avengers franchise, the movie itself has very little
plot or characterization but it is still produced over and over again because it is a
source of revenue. This is an example of how new media technologies how what
Adorno and Horkheimer mean by when they say art is becoming a commodity
(Adorno and Horkheimer). Another criticism found within

Similarities Between Animal Farm And Animal Farm
Two visions; Different Results
In George Orwell s novel Animal Farm he asserts that following blindly , will lead
to government abuse and corruption. Orwell s assertion brings life to the philosophy
that a utopian atmosphere can never exist. Orwell s purpose is to deliver the idea of
communism not being successful and to make the audience reading not want to get
into communism. George Orwell informs the young audience of the danger with
communism. Orwell was a very cynical individual when it came to writing Animal
Farm . There were many similarities and differences between Martin Luther King Jr.
and the character, Old Major in Animal Farm. One similar political equality
between the two figures is they both had a vision or dream of inspiring the masses
of people to dream of a better future. between two groups of people. Despite having
so many similarities between the two there are also several differences as well.
Such as, the animals had different rights to fight for, for example, the animals were
being overworked by Mr. Jones and they were not receiving enough food. On the
other side, the blacks, during the Martin Luther King Jr. time period, were not able to
go in the same bathroom as whites. The Blacks had restrictions to their rights in the
idea of not being able to pursue certain circumstances as the whites did.
The historical figure Martin Luther King Jr. had many similarities and differences
with the character in Animal Farm, Old Major. Both individuals had visions of
rebellion but Martin Luther had the mentality of peaceful rebellion, while olf
major wanted violence. The significant events between Martin Luther King Jr. and
Old Major was the Beasts of England speech and the I have a Dream speech. Old
Major used Beasts of England to show the animals his vision or dream for the
farm. Also, Martin Luther King Jr. used I have a Dream to bring light to the idea
of black rights. Old Major and Martin Luther King Jr. both had both a goal in their
mind for what they want there atmosphere to be. In Animal Farm, the speech Beasts
of England was used and it said Beasts of England, Beasts of England, Beasts of
every land and clime, hearken to my joyful tidings (orwell 12) The quotes from the

Pressing To Print In The Renaissance
Pressing to Print in the Renaissance Since books came to be, humans have looked to
literature to aid them in understanding the world around them, whether it be reading
or storytelling. During the Renaissance, people began to study the Bible and other
publications from the period and formed their own opinions towards everything,
which wouldn t have been possible without books. Guttenberg s invention of the
printing pressmechanism expanded the reach of knowledge to people of every social
class by allowing individuals to educate themselves and indirectly fomenting the ideas

Radio Frequency Identification Chips Essay
Radio Frequency Identification Chips
The Food and Drug Administration has considered approving radio frequency
identification chips or RFID chips that are implanted under the skin that will hold
information about the person that the chip is implanted into. Would you like to have
all of you personal information about your entire life on a tiny computer chip, the
size of a grain of rice, implanted under your skin? The FDA should not approve the

Also, the information on these chips is personal and private. The information that is
put on these chips should be decided on by the person who is having it implanted in
them. As of right now, every bit of your information goes on this chip without a
question of what you would want and what you would not want on it. The only way
to keep some information off of the chip is if the chip runs out of memory. According
to Lou Dolinar of the Orlando Sentinel a newspaper based out of Orlando, Florida,
published in October of 2004, the chips have very limited memory. These chips are
limited in memory because they are adapted from a product the company sells to
track lost pets and livestock.
Even if the security was stronger, there are still problems with the chips after they
have been implanted. According to Marc Rotenberg, executive director of the
Electronic Privacy Information Center, in a 2004 article in The New York Times,
after the chip is placed under the skin, it cannot be removed. If the chip cannot be
removed, than how can all of your information be updated? Your information changes
almost everyday and if it cannot be updated, you may be twenty one inches long for
the rest of your life.
The FDA should regulate the implantation of Radio Frequency Identification Chips.
The FDA should allow the people to decide what information goes on the chip.

When Ikea set up his first store in Moscow in 2000, expectations about the purchase
behavior of customers do not occur: instead to focus on the accessories and small

Over time it shifted from feudalism to more of a financial relationship since the

Glass Ceiling And Discrimination Of Women In The

It is no secret or surprise that women have always, and continue to be paid less than
men in the workplace. Not only that, but women are also put in low status jobs, no
matter their qualifications; a lot of women are put in a box when it comes to their
jobs or careers. It is mind blowing that women are still facing inequality when it
comes to work, considering we are living in very liberal times. Women in work
tend to go unnoticed, it might be because our nation and our world are so used to
women usually getting the shorter end of the stick, but it needs to be talked about
more if we want equality. When speaking about women in work, it is important to
talk about the typical jobs women take on that are sometimes low in status. First off,
women are more likely to be employed in unpaid care work and housework. They
take these jobs because of the time availability, relative resource perspectives, and the
symbolic representation of their gender. When women take on paid jobs, it ends up
being balanced with unpaid work because of maternity leaves. All these normality s

1.Introduction The notion of the triple bottom line has become fashionable to be
applied to management, consultation and investment over the last few years. The
trend towards greater transparency and accountability in public reporting is reflected
in revealing a more comprehensive performance which includes not only financial
factor but also social and environmental ones. Despite the trend, there are still some
people in mainstream sectors are to make profit regardless of environmental and
social cost, because they think there is no demand. This report seeks to define the
triple bottom line and to explain the reason why the triple bottom line is playing a
more and more important role in business with different examples. 2.Definition...

The triple bottom line helps to cultivate employees quality. The basic demand of
quality professionals will turn from finding and solving problems to preventing
problems (Smith, 2004, p.31). That is to say, quality professionals will perform as
change agents, if they want to do their jobs (Smith, 2004, p.31).For the requirements
of those professionals under the triple bottom line, they have to improve themselves
more to well fulfill the requirements. During the process of implementing the triple
bottom line, those quality professionals will be front and center (Smith, 2004, p.31).
The triple bottom line provides a competitive advantage and corporations will prosper.
Japanese government links the kind environmental development of products to
manufacturers, so the government encourages companies in Japan to develop and
strong quality into design (Osada cited in Smith, 2004, p.26).If the decision of a
company to provide products and services with quality is put into the market and
society recognize the value of it, then, the company can take this situational
advantage and finally boom up (Smith, 2004, P.26). 3.2 Social contribution The triple
bottom line creates social justice and helps investors distinguish companies. Tribble
(cited in Cheney, 2004, P.14) said that the triple bottom line is finding how a
company does business and that creates social injustice. Besides the internal needs of
a company, there is demand from

Why Is Thomas Aquinas Important
In Thomas Aquinas Summa Theologica, St. Thomas enters into multiple discussions
on the essence and nature of humans, God, and everything else in between. Thomas
explores questions that are seen by others as too arduous to explore due to
complicated sophistication and/or various complex thought experiments.
Nonetheless, Thomas tackles such difficulties and breaks it down in his own style
with help from others who have embarked on the same treacherous journey. With a
lot of help from Aristotle, specifically, Thomas equates many of his ideas about life to
Aristotle s previous works. Thomas even gives multiple commentaries on Aristotle s
work, not something that most people can put on their rГ©sumГ©. It s quite simple

The objector suggests that the law itself directs man in his actions, which to the
objector, seems to be concerned only with particular matters. It is then concluded
that the law is directed to some particular good, not the common good. Following
that argument, I would explain to the objector that particular goods are involved in
striving toward a larger goal. For instance, if my goal is to eat food, I may occupy
myself with the particular medium of cooking for myself, venturing to a
restaurant, mooching off of my friend, or whatever else seems to fit the mood at
that moment. Just because the end goal is concerned with a particular doesn t
mean the subject s mindset is contained to those individual particulars. Particulars
in every circumstance do in fact strive for an end of some sort. To break this down
further, let us take for example the basic law to not kill. In the United States, the
law is that people drive on the right side of the road. In other countries, it may be
on the left side. This specific law is aimed at the end of not killing, which in turn
promotes human flourishing. Thus, we can conclude that rules for driving on the
opposite sides of the road is aimed at the end of a common good. The objector is
saying that laws are concerned only with a particular matter or a particular good.
Following that logic
Griet Religion
In her novel Girl With a Pearl Earring, Tracy Chevalier constructs the story of Griet,
the imagined subject of Vermeer s famous painting. In doing so, she sheds light on the
culture of 17th century Holland, particularly the tensions and differences between the
communities of two Christian sects. Born into a Protestant family, Griet is forced to
work as a maid when her father cannot support the family. The artist Vermeer
becomes her master, and she must learn to navigate his Catholic household. As Griet
reacts to the new culture she has been thrust into, many historical references to 1660s
Dutch society can be found. In her novel, Chevalier emphasizes the significance of
religious differences between Griet and the family she works for and examines the
use of imagery within Catholicism by demonstrating Griet s initial aversion to it....

She shows wariness of Catholics when she leaves the Vermeers house on Sunday,
not wanting to be with them on their day of devotion. Griet s mother expresses
similar feelings when she lectures her daughter, [Working for the Vermeers has]
made you forget... we re a decent Protestant family whose needs are not ruled by
riches or fashions (137). In this criticism, she implies that Catholics value material
possessions over anything substantial. Tracy Chevalier reveals Holland s history
when she writes that [Catholics] were tolerated in Delft, but were expected not to
parade their faith openly (13). The name of the New Church as well as this quotation
indicates that while Catholicism was once the main religion of the Delft, the
Protestants have taken over. Girl With a Pearl Earring explains the separation
between these two belief systems, and Griet continues to clarify their differences with
the repeated theme of religious

A dinosaur, thrashing through the woods. A terrorizing cyborg, attempting to seal
humanity s fate. A friendly toy cowboy, coming to life. These are some of the
unimaginable things that computer generated imagery (CGI) has brought to life
in film. CGI is constructing still or animated visual content with picturing software
(Rouse). It has many uses as well, and is a helpful tool in many fields. CGI is used
for visuals, advertising, anatomical modeling, architecture, special effects in
cinema, and video games (Rouse). CGI has played a significant role in film over the
years. Before CGI, special effects in cinema were simple. In Pre War Hollywood or
before World War II, special effects included adding clouds to the sky, and ceilings
to sets (Keil and Whissel 91). Many different methods were also used to make the
figures appear like they were moving, which CGI replaced. A praxinoscope was one...

The s Garden By Gail Tsukiyama
The Key to Well Being To attain well being in life one needs to surround
themselves with friends and loved ones. Many researchers strongly believe that a
person s well being can be directly affected by how many friends he or she has and
also by the quality of the friendships. Most literature today uses friendshipas a main
topic because friendship is progressive and friendship cultivates other emotions and
physical health. If we can understand how friendship affects someone s well being
than we can make the world a happier place. It is easy to conclude from The
Samurai s Garden by Gail Tsukiyama, A Doll s House by Henrik Ibsen, and in life
that friendships is essential for a person s well being. Sadness and grief affect
people every day and coping with those emotions can be hard, but researchers have
found that one easy and effective way of dealing with grief is having friends for
support. In her article The Importance of Friendships, Madeline Vann describes a
series of interviews with parents who lost a baby during pregnancy or immediately
after birth showed that those who felt they were receiving social support from
friends or family were better able to cope with their grief (Madeline 1). For many
people, it is second nature to try and comfort people they are close to during times
of grief such as funerals because they feel they are helping the person grieve. If
showing others our friendship by comforting them during a sad time in their life wasn

large and spread out globally, that its stories will be the stories that will form and
help form a child s imaginary world, all over the world, and that s an incredible
amount of power, enormous amount of power (Mickey Mouse Monopoly). He
continues to say that we should question what Disney is teaching and what children
are learning from their films. He uses rhetorical question to strengthen his point,
asking if these [are] the stories we really want our children to hear (Mickey Mouse
Monopoly). He brings to light that if those kinds of questions aren t being asked,
then people are allowing Disney to shape the imaginations of millions of children.
This really sets up the film s discussion on the influence Disney has on children. By

The Book Of Genesis Is Submerged With Revelation
Introduction
The Book of Genesis is submerged with revelation(s) which shows similarities
between the first Adam(s) and the last Adam(s). Revelation is the knowledge which
the owner of the land gives unto his subjects to execute his purpose in the land, in
his place, see John 16:7 16; As the first Adam is the son of God, see Luke 3:38. The
last Adam is God the Son, see Hebrews 1:8. Adam was given the knowledge to
execute the Father s purpose in the garden, this is a type of revelation, see Genesis
2:15 19. Adam is the prince of this word, he owns the land by inheritance, and
obeys the will of the Father, by operating in the spirit of revelation, see Genesis
2:17. When is, the inheritance given to Adam, Genesis 1:26; says, let them have
dominion over ALL the earth. The only thing that was greater than Adam was God
s word. God himself has now made himself subject to Adam decisions. In Genesis
2:17, Death here refers to dominion over principalities and powers, see Ephesians
1:19 23. When Adam disobeyed, SIN entered the world, and DEATH gained
dominion over the laws of Adam. Since God was in Adam, DEATH separated
Adam from the Father because of the new law in his spirit, see Genesis 3:7 22.
Adam was now born again, but to death. Thus, death entered the world and became
the new schoolmaster, see Romans 5:12. Subsequently, God removes himself from
the body of man, began his redemptive work, by reducing mans life to 120 years, see
Genesis 6:3; and permitting the

The Grignard reaction is an important synthetic process by which a new carbon to
carbon bond is formed. Magnesium metal is first reacted with an organic halide
forming the Grignard reagent. The Grignard reaction is the addition of an
organomagnesium halide (Grignard reagent) to a ketone or aldehyde, to form a
tertiary or secondary alcohol, respectively. For example, the reaction with
formaldehyde leads to a primary alcohol. Grignard Reagents are also used in the

Creation, Rebellion, And Fall
The Bible contains sixty six books, written by approximately forty authors, over
the course of two thousand years. God created and loves humans despite their
rebellious attitude towards Him, and God wants to reunite humans to Himself
(Poythress, 2008). The Bible is a record of the sinful rebellion of humans and it
still declares God s love for humanity through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ.
This foundation prepares the way for Jesus Christ to fulfill God s entire promised
covenants. Creation, Rebellion, and Fall (4004 2234 BC) In six days God created
the universe, the earth, and every living thing on it. This includes human beings,
who were made in Gods own image. God created Adam and Eve to have an
unobstructed relationship with him, He placed them in a paradise called the
Garden of Eden and gave them freedom to live in friendship and trust with him.
God saw that everything he created was good and He rested on the seventh day
(Genesis 2:2). God left Adam and Eve in the garden with specific instructions: they
are NOT to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. However, they rebel
and sin enters the world after a serpent tricks Eve into questioning God s love and
motives. In her gullible innocence, she ate from the tree of knowledge of good and
evil (Genesis 3). Eve shared the fruit with Adam and they spiritually and physically
die. This was catastrophic to Gods Order and led to the condemnation of all human
beings (Roman 5:18). Immediately, they

Adam s death, and his father s subsequent activism on his behalf, helped put faces on

It also prompted national legislation to create a national center, database and toll free

which brought those cases into millions of homes.

How Did Richard Avedon Influenced Fashion Photography
Richard Avedon was a famous American photographer who took the fashion and
portrait photography industry by storm. Richard was born on May 15th, 1923 in
New York City, Richard died while he was working on a photography project in San
Antonio, Texas due to cerebral hemorrhaging. Richard Avedon was widely know for
his works in provocative fashion photographyand minimalist portraiture. Richard did

Harpers Bazaar. Richard told the models he worked with to show emotion and
movement to create a better image; this was rare in the fashion industry and wasn t
the norm, most fashion photographers would make their models stand still and
strike a pose. Richard thought different and he made fashion photography his own

industry loved him! Richard had many famous works, one of his most famous
pieces was a portrait of the famous band The Beatles, each of the portraits were
very abstract and colorful and had a very distorted look to them this look

Traditional And Modern Medicine
Several treatment methods have been used by humans for cure diseases over the
centuries. Two of the treatment methods are traditional medicine and modern
medicine. In fact, these two types of treatment methods share the same objective
from different approaches. Traditional medicine can be defined as health practices
based on the use of plants, plants extracts and animals. It is a theory with a non
scientific approach used to treat illness in the contrary of modern medicinewhich is a
health practices based on the use of pharmaceutical drugs. It is a scientific approach
used to diagnose, prevent and treat illness. Although traditional and modern medicine

the use of plants and herbs, modern medicine uses many herbs and plant derivative
based on biological and chemical aspect as well. Many common drugs are derived
from plant based sources directly or indirectly. Moreover, traditional and modern
medicine have both side effects. They could be harmful or ineffective for a human
body if the dosage is not well calculated, in this case we run the risk of over or under
dose. Also, many side effects can occur from the interaction of both medicine.

Abstract
It has been the case that over the duration that mankind has graced the planet there
has been group s hell bent on enacting their beliefs and values upon the rest of the
world. As time has passed there have been many times that these groups have
changed the face of the planet permanently. You can look at any organized religious
group and see just how they pushed the belief system onto others to spread their
ideology. Now, taking into consideration that fundamentalism and militant groups are
nothing new, you can see that it still affects society greatly even today. Let us look at

Goals
The primary aim of the group is to establish an Islamic state in Egypt with small
secular Arab governments. The remarkable feature of Egyptian Islamic Jihadas I have
learned is a powerful force challenging the cohesion of states. As a result, Egyptian
Islamic Jihad is responsible for a variety of national and international tensions, such
as the revival of communal tension in the Middle East. The group of radical
Egyptian Islamist thinkers took hold of a serious nationalist conception of jihad and
its role in establishing a truly Islamic government (Knapp, 2003). According to its
own self proclaimed dogma, Egyptian Islamic Jihad is prepared to oppose their
understanding of tradition to that of their community s leaders.
Ideology
Ideology of the group is vividly expressed in a pamphlet they circulated years ago
The Neglected Duty which has been lost in time. The pamphlet makes the argument
that jihad, as armed action is the heart of Islam, and neglect of this type of action by
any Muslim has caused the current depressed condition of Islam in the world, of
course without taking into consideration the serious shortcomings of the culture
itself. (Knapp, 2003) This violence serves the interests of political and economic
profiteers; it creates its own
The Political Environment Of The Philippines
Political Environment To begin, the political environment of the Philippines should
firstly be addressed. In the modern day Philippines, they have established a multi
party democracy which has an elected president along with its legislature. Their
democracy is set up exactly the same as ours in the United States. They have the
framework of where the president is both the head of state as well as the government
in general. Similarly their system is composed of the three independent branches
which are the legislative, executive, and judicial branches. Under the leadership of
the president, the executive branch makes the decisions for the government/country
body as a whole; Congress the Senate and the House of Representatives, controls the
legislative branch; and the Supreme Court, held as the highest judicial body they
have, is vested within the courts of the Philippines. Within their country contrary to
ours, they hold elections every three years instead of our two. These elections have
been held on the second Monday of May since 1992. The winners of these elections
begin their time in office on the following June 30th. Although the Philippines have a
democracy, not all of the regions within it have political power. Within the local
government s cities, provinces, municipalities and barangays, some regions merely
exist just for the use of administrative purposes. (Doing Business In the Philippines,
n.d.).
Legal/Regulatory Environment However within this democracy, there
Mesa Grande Essay
An explosion rocked the town, widows shattered and cars alarms wailed, A line of
twenty Abram tanks rolled side by side on parallel roads, through the town of Mesa
Grande, but, all heading the same direction, to the west. Boom, boom , boom boom,
as the Abrams fired their 120mm M256 smoothbore guns in a hellish symphony
toward their targets, the Heat rounds strike time and again on target, plumes of fire,
smoke, and sand leapt in the sky, forming craters across the desert to the west of town.
Rat tat tat tat, as some of the tank commanders fired the 12.7mm Browning M2
machine guns, and the loaders fired 7.62mm M240 machine guns toward their
targets, a spec ops soldier had been assigned to each tank to operated the 7.62mm

The mesa to the South had a stone quarry on the back side away from the town
where stone was quarried for the local construction companies, who had added the

When the news had spread that the dead where coming back to life and eating
people, many of the residents packed up what they could carry and fled to
government ran safe camps , where the army or other agency had set up barricades
and defensive lines to keep the citizens safe, the first attempts though where
unsuccessful and the camps where overrun and everyone killed or spawned into
the Un dead, adding to their numbers. The un dead traveled in large packs and the
more who died the larger the packs had grown, One of the apache pilots now
assigned to John s brigade had reported seeing a crowd of thousands, maybe tens of
thousands of zombies in the town of High Vista only 25 miles to the West of Mesa
Grande. The problem was that High Vista s population was over a million people
and there was no word on how many if any had been able to evacuate before the
crowd hit.
Either way John knew that time was limited, his tanks and infantry had come guns
blazing into Mesa Grande, he estimated they had killed at least 1000 zombie since
their arrival and they finally had a perimeter of firepower surrounding the city, but,

China’s One Child Policy Essay
With more than 1.3 billion people, China has to think about a solution and find
ways to deal with its population explosion. In order to have control over
population, in 1970, a policy named China s One Child Policy was introduced.
Mingliang argues that, China, through the one child policy, has instituted the most
aggressive, comprehensive population policy in the world (1). This policy limits all
families in the Republic of China to have only one child, regardless of the sex:
however, within this policy there are some exceptions. It is possible to have two
children only if the first child is born with a disability, if parents work in a high risk
job, if the couple lives in villages, or if the family is a non Han, otherwise you are...

As Mingliang states, the Chinese preference for at least one son is well documented
(3). Having two sons in a family is very unusual in China. Due to the preferences of
having sons, the abortion rates have increased. Abortion is well known in China, as
is the missing girls phenomenon. Shaou, Dodge, and Suter argue that, of the seven
million abortions annually in China, the International Planned Parenthood
Federation indicates that more than 70 percent are female unborn children (4).
This is a big percentage, and the number of girls in this country is decreasing every
year. People are using different ways to limit the number of girls. Moreover, if a
woman does not want to abort, she is forced to do so. Bluett argues that, abortions
are performed throughout the entire nine month period, even up to the point of
childbirth (3), simply saying the increase in sex ration is caused mainly by son
preference, which is as a tradition in China. It is significant to mention that because
of the gender imbalance, younger generations are facing other problems. According
to Bluett, many males are left without a wife, which leads to an increase in human
trafficking (5). The one child policy is causing a lot of troubles and China has to
make sure to reduce the negative effects of this policy. However, China s one child
policy has been effective in some ways. Although, it is true that the
Telecommunication Is The Real Face Of The Advances Of...
Telecommunications
Telecommunication is the real face of the advances in Information Technology (IT).
In fact, the overwhelming advances that humankind has seen in the last decades in IT
(internet, telephone, television and radio broadcasting, satellite communication) are
effects of the advance of Telecommunications(normally the word is used in plural
because it encompasses different types of means of transmission). From the electrical
telegraph of Samuel Morse (1837) to the transmission of voice and image over the
Internet (Skype, Hangout etc.), the Telecommunications has developed too much and
affected the world and the human being behavior.
Telecommunications means the transmission of information between two stations.
Basically, a transmitter, a receiver and an electrical mean channel are enough to
complete a telecommunication process. The channel can be a cable, electromagnetic
waves or fiber optics. This system is interconnected in a very large network on which
all communications in the world is done. A simple fixed telephonecall, a cellphone
call, a satellite transmission, an e mail, a download of a music, everything is possible
because of this network.
Even though the main goal of this network is the communication, it can go beyond
this. Actually, this large system supports the international trade, the online education,
the exchanging of messages (e mail, short message), the Internet, the bank
transactions and many other services. Besides, a new kind of

Paranoid: North Korea s Computer Operating System Mirrors Its Political One.
Reuters. Thomson Reuters, 2015. Web. 28 Mar. 2016.
James Pearson and Jeremy Wagstaff analyze Red Star OS, the internal operating
system used by the few North Koreans privileged enough to own a computer. He
compares the OS to the North Korean political system: malicious, intrusive, and
authoritarian.
Red Star OS was developed by the North Korean government to make its computer
infrastructure more independent and free of backdoors and security vulnerabilities
introduced by potentially malicious third party software vendors. The latest
version of Red Star OS is based on Fedora, a popular GNU/Linux distribution.
Although the Fedora Project actively promotes user freedom, Fedora s open source
nature has enabled the North Korean government to create a derivative that directly
contradicts Fedora s principles. On the surface, Red Star OS closely resembles OS
X. Underneath, however, lie hidden processes that surveil and supervise the user.
The system does not allow many of its core functions to be disabled, such as the
firewall and antivirus system. Users attempting to tamper with the system may be
greeted with an error message or a system halt. In addition to limiting user freedom,
Red Star OS also aims to thwart the underground exchange of unauthorized media.
Because much of this illegal content is shared person to person via USB mass storage
devices, the government often
General Baptist Atonement Theory
They rallied around the thinking that Christ death has general purpose, which implies
that anyone who choose to believe in Christ can be saved. John Calvin taught that
only the predestined may be saved. The theory of the General Baptists also
maintained the principle of the possibility of falling from grace . Its members were
English refugees who had fled England to escape religious persecution. Later the
Particular Baptist surfaced led by leaders under the influenced of Calvinism, they
taught a particular atonement. To define atonement the dictionary gives the meaning
as the Theology, the doctrine concerning the reconciliation of Godand humankind,
especially as accomplished through the life, suffering and death of Christ. The
Particular believed Christ died not for all mankind but for only the Particular in other

Conservative Baptists had no justification for a separate existence except their loyalty
to what they believed the Scriptures to teach, their conviction that teaching of the
Scripture must be followed without compromise. (Shelley/Atlas) Leaders of this
movement did not initially embrace separation as a basic principle of action. They
wanted rather a theological grounded means to channel their missionary volunteers
and dollars to the mission fields, and they had hoped that this could be done under
recognition if not the good wishes of the Northern Baptist convention.
Conservative Baptists are independent minded people. This independence can be
trace, in part to the frustrations Baptist Fundamentalists faced in the 1920s and the
1940s as they sought to check the drift of their Northern Baptist Convention. The
Council refused to allow the issue involving the Conservative Baptist Foreign
Mission Society to be brought before the Convention
What Was The Use Of The Telegraph During The

The Telegraph
In The 18th and 19th century the Industrial Revolution took place. This was a period
of time where rural societies became industrial. This introduction to machinery
brought a lot of change to areas around the world. For example, the way individual s
communicated needed some improvements. These improvements came during the
Industrial Revolution.
In the 1830s and the 1840s the telegraph was developed by Samuel Morse, Sir
William Cooke, Sir Charles Wheatstone, Leonardo Gale, and Alfred Vail. However,
people had to communicate before this invention. Ancient civilizations would use the
land s resources to communicate. One tactic they utilized was smoke signals. One
inherent problem with the use of fire to communicate is the weather. Additionally,
another way of communication was the use of the semaphore. In the 1790s the
semaphore was developed. The semaphore used multiple hilltop stations. On these
stations had movable arms with the ability to signal letters as ... Show more content

Many developments in science contributed to the development of the telegraph.
Alessandro Volta invented the battery in 1800. Shortly after in 1820 Hans Oersted
deflected a magnetic needle with an electric current. This showed there was a
connection between electricity and magnetism. Gale, Vail, and Morse invented a
telegraph that worked by applying pressure to a key which would complete the
electric circuit. In order to use the telegraph Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail invented
the morse code. The alphabet was translated into dots and dashes. Originally a
telegraph operator would mark the signals on paper, then translate them back into
English. As time progressed, however operators began to understand the code just by
hearing the clicking of the receiver. A receiver became apart of the process. The
receiver would pronounce the beeping sounds. Allowing the operator to translate the

A Brief Note On Personal Hygiene And Health Hygiene
There are many reasons why personal hygiene is important. Some of the reasons
are taking care of your teeth so they don t fall out, taking care of your hair so it
stays healthy, taking showers to stay clean, or just washing your hands to keep them
clean. There are so many more ways to take care of personal hygienesuch as changing
your clothes on a daily basis, eating the right foods, being careful of what you re
touching or what you re chewing on. There are many places that can help with
your hygiene like dentists or orthodontist. So are you really taking care of your
personal hygiene? Personal hygiene is very important for many reasons. One
reason is if you don t take care of your teeth, they could rot and possibly fall out.
This would not be enjoyable because you would have to get false teeth or just
never have teeth. It would be very challenging to eat without teeth. This could also
result in having to pay very large amounts of money. Another reason hygiene is
important is your hair. If you don t take care of your hair, you can get very
unhealthy hair and scalp issues such as Dandruff . Dandruff is small pieces of
dead skin in a person s hair. Signs of dandruff is a itchy scalp or white flakes in
your hair. This is not because of dryness but because it s usually the result of too
much oil rather than too little in your hair. Taking showers can reduce getting
dandruff because the water can wash the extra, not needed, oil out. Personal hygiene
also includes just
Okonkwo Fire Imagery Quotes
{Achebe clearly uses fire and locust imagery to give the readers a clear sign of the
fate of the Ibo people including their tragic hero, Okonkwo. {The fire imagery in
the novel evolves to include smoke and ashes, which also has powerful allegorical
meaning. WHERE TO PLACE IN ESSAY THOUGH? The fire imagery that
pervades throughout the novel is often associated with Okonkwo, and his offspring,
during the course of his rises and falls in the novel. However, the fire imagery does
not only have an image of destruction; it also has an image of cleansing. In the
beginning of the novel, Achebe says that Okonkwo s fame had grown like a bush fire
in the harmattan. This shows that the clans acknowledged Okonkwo s skills without
hesitance; yet,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that the locusts were large enough in number to break mighty tree branches
speaks to the missionaries breaking of the religious, political, judicial, and social
branches of the Ibo society. The Umuofians naively underestimate the danger that the
locusts can bestow upon them if they were unheeded, in the same way, the Umuofians
underestimate the overwhelming influence the missionaries would have on their
people. The description of the locusts as a vast, hungry swarm by Achebe speaks to
the greedy agenda of the missionaries, hidden under the innocent guise of peacefully
spreading Christianity to the primitive people of the Lower
Essay On Density Determination Lab
Hypothesis
The objective of the density determination lab is to determine/compare the average
density of pre 1982 and post 1982 pennies. This can be achieved by finding the
mass to volume ratio then averaging the results. The purpose of this lab is to find
out if the difference in composition of the pre and post pennies will affect their
densities. Pennies made before 1982 where majority copper but pennies minted after
1982 are made with mostly zinc. With this background knowledge, we expect the
outcome to be that the density of the pre pennies will be greater than the post
pennies. This experiment will help us to determine if the pre pennies will have a
higher density by finding the volumes and mass s then comparing the results. ... Show

The starting volume of water was 25 ml. To find the volume of the pennies by itself,
the volume of water/pennies together needs to be subtracted from the volume of
the water. To find the density the equation D=M/V must be used. The mass of five

How Is Sledge Changed With The Old Breed
Cidnee Rumage Thomas Rodgers HIST 102 22 November 2015
E. B. Sledge: With the Old Breed
Once a person dedicates their life to something, everything unknowingly changes.
Becoming a marine was more than just a career for Sledge. Sledge definitely
changed from the time he went to boot camp until the end of his combat
experience in Okinawa. E.B. s nickname was Sledgehammer , it didn t particularly
match his physical appearance though. He was a shy college student, who would
not have been expected to enter any type of war scene, but Sledge had in fact
chosen this path for himself. Even though his family had begged him to stay in
college as long as possible and avoid the dangers of the war scene, he had not only
decided to join the Marines, but when he was put into officer training, he
intentionally flunked out in order to enlist as a private. His goal was to see
combat before the war was over. Sledge begins his memoir admitting, like many
men of the other men joining him that he was prompted by a deep feeling of
uneasiness that the war might be over before [he] could get overseas into combat...
(5) so he joined the Marines. This shows that he was a little hesitant about the
whole ordeal. Sledge described his feelings as being anxious and on the edge. The
book s most evident theme is the feeling of being of a Marine, what Sledge calls
esprit de corps. Sledge provides many examples throughout the book about how the
Marines regularly exposed themselves to fire to retrieve

It is then concluded that the law is directed to some particular good, not the common good. Following that argument, I would explain to the objector that particular goods are involved in striving toward a larger goal. For instance, if my goal is to eat food, I may occupy myself with the particular medium of cooking for myself, venturing to a restaurant, mooching off of my friend, or whatever else seems to fit the mood at that moment. Just because the end goal is concerned with a particular doesn t mean the subject s mindset is contained to those individual particulars. Particulars in every circumstance do in fact strive for an end of some sort. To break this down further, let us take for example the basic law to not kill. In the United States, the law is that people drive on the right side of the road. In other countries, it may be on the left side. This specific law is aimed at the end of not killing, which in turn promotes human flourishing. Thus, we can conclude that rules for driving on the opposite sides of the road is aimed at the end of a common good. The objector is saying that laws are concerned only with a particular matter or a particular good. Following that logic

Most literature today uses friendshipas a main topic because friendship is progressive and friendship cultivates other emotions and physical health. Nobody really knows if Mike 2 Tyson is a cannibal or not, but future opponents are sure to keep closer to his hands than his face. Mike Tyson was about to have his boxing license taken away. My teeth were the ones at fault, he was heard saying. The judge was going to have to decide if his boxing license was taken away or his teeth. His lawyers had said that the reason for all this was because of his taste for victory, and that he felt the knockout punch coming, but that his mouth is always getting him into trouble. The judges could not have placed him in prison because he would bite his way out and escape. He kept his boxing license and was fined just a few thousand dollars. In the modern day Philippines, they have established a multi party democracy which has an elected president along with its legislature. Their democracy is set up exactly the same as ours in the United States. They have the framework of where the president is both the head of state as well as the government in general. Similarly their system is composed of the three independent branches which are the legislative, executive, and judicial branches. Under the leadership of the president, the executive branch makes the decisions for the government/country body as a whole; Congress the Senate and the House of Representatives, controls the legislative branch; and the Supreme Court, held as the highest judicial body they have, is vested within the courts of the Philippines. Within their country contrary to ours, they hold elections every three years instead of our two. These elections have been held on the second Monday of May since 1992. The winners of these elections begin their time in office on the following June 30th. Although the Philippines have a democracy, not all of the regions within it have political power. Shaou, Dodge, and Suter argue that, of the seven million abortions annually in China, the International Planned Parenthood Federation indicates that more than 70 percent are female unborn children (4). This is a big percentage, and the number of girls in this country is decreasing every year. People are using different ways to limit the number of girls.
