This study examined the relationship between parental engagement and student academic growth. The author analyzed data on 435 students, including their Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA) category scores from fall 2013 to spring 2014 and parental attendance at 11 educational meetings. Students with significant parental engagement (attending 6+ meetings) were compared to those with non-significant engagement (attending 5 or fewer meetings). The findings showed that students whose parents were not significantly engaged were less likely to show academic growth, especially those starting in the Below or Meeting DRA categories. The author recommends providing targeted parental meetings and resources to help support the learning of lower-performing students.

This article examines the associations between classroom quality, the percentage of children with special needs in a classroom, and child outcomes in Head Start programs. The study used four instruments to measure classroom quality, social behavior, pre-literacy skills, and family experiences. Hierarchical linear modeling found that most variance in child outcomes was within classrooms. Children from higher quality homes scored higher, while children with special needs scored lower. Children in higher quality classrooms and with a higher percentage of special needs peers had better academic outcomes.

This workshop will describe how schools can replicate Project Cal-Wellโs three-tier approach to improve school climate, increase access to school-based mental health services, and build community partnerships. The University of California, San Franciscoโs project evaluation will also be described, including how data can be used to track progress toward improving studentsโ mental health.

Parental involvement in education has been shown to have significant benefits for students, parents, teachers, and schools. INTRODUCTION
The future professional role would be an early childhood educator to teach both Science and English. This would educate students through lectures and hand-on learning with adherence to the curriculum. The setting would be the classroom whereby it would ensure that there is a happy environment for all students. It would be good to act as a role model and a mentor by encouraging students to learn and ensuring that they do not face challenges such as depression or discrimination which would inhibit their learning. This would ensure that interacting with students more often and learn about their families. Maintaining good relationships with their families and having frequent communication would be a good way to understand any challenges the students could be facing. The current experience is helping kindergarten students learn social studies while the previous experience in helping students complete their homework. The purpose of the study is to find various ways in which students could be motivated during the learning of science. The student outcomes that need influence are their knowledge and skills in science and their attitude towards learning the subject. Assessments have shown that some students lack sufficient knowledge in science. The performance of students in science is also an area of interest to be influenced because it also determines whether or not the students are engaged in learning. Students are expected to obtain a positive attitude toward science learning. They should achieve good grades to show that they understand the topics at hand.
The fact that many students lose interest in learning science as they progress to higher levels shows that they are not engaged enough during the initial years of science learning specifically in first grade. Decreased motivation leads to lower grades in science (Uhm et al, 2018). Teachers do not put much emphasis on the teaching of science because they dedicate most of their time to reading within the researcherโs school. Students, therefore, lose interest in learning science because they are not fully engaged in learning by their teachers.

- 2. Purpose of Research Statement The purpose of my research was twofold. First, to determine the essential characteristics that must be included in developing a successful framework for a parental involvement program for sixth grade students. Secondly, to develop an effective parent involvement program at the sixth grade level.
- 4. There is definitely a decrease in parental involvement and support once students reach middle school.
- 5. Many of the current parent involvement programs are so strategic and time consuming that it makes it virtually impossible to establish in the average school setting.
- 6. Many parent involvement programs lose site of the intended goal, which is to build a partnership with parents to ensure students success, and start focusing on solving the parentsโ problems. Personal Investment

- 12. Students whose parents participate in their schooling tend to have greater motivation, more positive student-teacher relationships, improved effort, and higher levels of engagement in class (Elish-Piper, 2008).
- 13. The most important benefit of parent involvement are higher rates of college enrollment.
- 14. During adolescence it is most imperative for families and schools to work together to insure the adolescentโs success.
- 15. Families provide the social, cultural and emotional support that students need to perform well in school. Situational Analysis
- 17. Despite adolescentsโ desire for independence and time with peers, they continue to rely on guidance from parents and other adults (Bouffard & Stephen, 2007). Literature Review
- 19. 76% of grade 6 through 8 parents reported attending scheduled parent-teacher conference;
- 21. 88% of students in grades 6 through 8 had their homework completion checked by an adult;
- 22. 100% in Kindergarten through second grade students had an adult in their household check that their homework was done.(Herrold & O'Donnell, 2008)
- 23. Stakeholders The primary stakeholders are sixth grade students. Secondary stakeholders of my research are the parents, teachers, school administrators and community.
