The Oracle's strategic solution for real time data integration. Oracle GoldenGate provides low-impact capture, routing, transformation, and delivery of transactional data across heterogeneous environments in real time
Oracle Database Availability & Scalability Across Versions & EditionsMarkus Michalewicz
The Oracle Database provides a comprehensive set of availability and scalability features. The availability of those features, however, differs between versions and database editions (e.g. Standard and Enterprise Edition). This presentation reviews and discusses some of these capabilities across different versions and editions, on-premises and in the Oracle Cloud, including the recent change in support for Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) in the Oracle Standard Edition (SE)2.
Maximum Availability Architecture - Best Practices for Oracle Database 19cGlen Hawkins
Provides the latest updates on high availability (HA) best practices in this well-established technical deep-dive session. Learn how to optimize all aspects of Oracle Active Data Guard 19c. See how to use session draining, transparent application continuity, Oracle RAC, and Oracle GoldenGate to mask outages and planned maintenance from users and to accelerate time to repair for single database or your fleet of databases. Hear about the latest HA best practices with Oracle Multitenant and understand how the new sharded architecture can achieve even higher levels of HA and fault isolation for OLTP applications. Find out how everything you know about Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) on-premises can be deployed in the cloud.
Oracle RAC 19c - the Basis for the Autonomous DatabaseMarkus Michalewicz
Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) has been Oracle's premier database availability and scalability solution for more than two decades as it provides near linear horizontal scalability without the need to change the application code. This session explains why Oracle RAC 19c is the basis for Oracle's Autonomous Database by introducing some of its latest features, some of which were specifically designed for ATP-D, as well as by taking a peek under the hood of the dedicated Autonomous Database Service (ATP-D).

Postgres Vision 2018: PostGIS and Spatial ExtensionsEDB
The extensibility of PostgreSQL has enabled the combination of PostgreSQL and the geospatial extension PostGIS, creating what many say is the most powerful SQL/MM compliant database for location-based applications. This presentation, delivered at Postgres Vision 2018 by Regina Obe, Co-founder of Paragon Corporation and PostGIS Project Steering Committee member, and Leo Hsu, Co-founder of Paragon Corporation, examines PostgreSQL spatial extensions that work with PostGIS.
Standard Edition High Availability (SEHA) - The Why, What & HowMarkus Michalewicz
Standard Edition High Availability (SEHA) is the latest addition to Oracle’s high availability solutions. This presentation explains the motivation for Standard Edition High Availability, how it is implemented and the way it works currently as well as what is planned for future improvements. It was first presented during Oracle Groundbreakers Yatra (OGYatra) Online in July 2020.
The Oracle database has met the highest high availability expectations for decades. The goal of this presentation is to show which technologies Oracle is already using today so that this high standard is not disappointed in the years to come.
"Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) for Oracle Database, Exadata and the Cloud" was first presented during Oracle Open World (OOW) 2019. This version of the deck has been updated for OOW London 2020 including the latest information regarding patching and upgrading the Oracle Database with Zero Downtime.
This presentation reviews the key methodologies that all the member of the team should consider such as:
- How to prioritize the right application or project for your first Oracle
- Tips to execute a well-defined, phased migration process to minimize risk and increase time to value
- Handling the common concerns and pitfalls related to a migration project
- What resources you can leverage before, during and after your migration
- Suggestions on how you can achieve independence from an Oracle database – without sacrificing performance.
Target audience: This presentation is intended for IT Decision-Makers and Leaders on the team involved in Database decisions and execution.

Disaster Recovery Experience at CACIB: Hardening Hadoop for Critical Financia...DataWorks Summit
Hadoop is becoming a standard platform for building critical financial applications such as risk reporting, trading and fraud detection. These applications require high level of SLAs (service-level agreement) in terms of RPO (Recovery Point Objective) and RTO (Recovery Time Objective). To achieve these SLAs, organizations need to build a disaster recovery plan that cover several layers ranging from the infrastructure to the clients going through the platform and the applications. In this talk, we will present the different architecture blueprints for disaster recovery as well as their corresponding SLA objectives. Then, we will focus on the stretch cluster solution that Crédit Agricole CIB is using in production. We will discuss the solution’s advantages, drawbacks and the impact of this approach on the global architecture. Finally, we will explain in detail how to configure and deploy this solution and how to integrate each layer (storage layer, processing layer...) into the architecture.
PostgreSQL is a powerful, enterprise class open source object-relational database system with an emphasis on extensibility and standards-compliance. PostgreSQL boasts many sophisticated features and runs stored procedures in more than a dozen programming languages. We’ll explore the advantages and limitations of PostgreSQL, examples of where it is best suited for use, and examples of who is using PostgreSQL to power their applications.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
Threats to mobile devices are more prevalent and increasing in scope and complexity. Users of mobile devices desire to take full advantage of the features
available on those devices, but many of the features provide convenience and capability but sacrifice security. This best practices guide outlines steps the users can take to better protect personal devices and information.
