Harry O'Neil is a Manchester-born musician who gained fame last year with his album "Confessions". He has always been passionate about music since playing guitar as a kid. In 3 years, he hopes to have toured every US state. His proudest achievement so far was selling out 5 nights in a row at the O2 arena in London. 1. Double Page Article Draft
Harry O’Neil is a Manchester born and raised musician who took the charts by storm last year with
his out of the blue album; confessions.
Have you always known you wanted a career in music? Yeah, I’ve always been passionate about
music. As a kid I was obsessed with my little guitar; from then on I knew I wanted to preform to large
audiences and let the world enjoy my music.
Where would you like to be in 3 years? I’ve always loved the idea of touring every state in America;
like a long road trip. So yeah I’ll try and get that far.
If you could win any award of your choice, what would it be? Defiantly the mercury prise. I think it’d
be an honour to win that award and I’d love to think I was capable of it.
Does any of your family and friends think it’s crazy how quickly you’ve shot to fame and the extent
of it? Well yeah, I mean it’s been just over two years and it’s absolutely flown by! All my family and
friends have been so supportive the whole time so that’s been a big help. I still go to my mums every
Sunday for dinner so nothing’s changed in that sense.
How did it feel when you sold out at the O2 5 nights straight?
I literally couldn’t believe it! I was totally amazed. I didn’t think I’d sell out two nights let alone five.
The experience was amazing as well, defiantly the proudest achievement of myself to date.
How do you get your personal chill time whilst on tour?
You’ve just got to use whatever free time you get. Which isn’t a lot! Throughout the day I lived off
energy drinks and breakfast bars coz’ we were that busy and rushed. It was all well worth it though.
So can we be expecting another tour anytime soon?
Hmmm, maybe this time next year. I’m not too sure yet. We’ll see what thing turn out like for the
rest of the year and where I’m at then.
Can we get any hints as to who your support acts will be?
I’m afraid not at this moment in time. Although I do choose the support acts myself I’m not sure who
they’ll be. This is because nothing for the next tour has been organised yet, hence that’s why I can’t
say.
Who do you think keeps it freshest, musically wise of course?
I really like Tom Odell! I think he’s been doing a great job of keeping it fresh. His music is awesome
and its unbelievable how fast he’s become to be loved by his fans.
Who is your biggest musical inspiration of all time?
Oh that’s a tough one. Growing up my dad would listen to Jonny Cash none stop so I think he’s had a
huge impact on me subconsciously.
What’s your favourite instrument to pay?
100% my guitar. I can’t get enough of it. Wherever i go it goes too. Don’t get me wrong, I love
playing the piano, but the guitar is my #1!
Biggest celebrity crush?
I think Cameron Diaz is hot! Yeah defiantly her. And I didn’t even know she was the voice of Princess
Fiona in Shrek till a few weeks ago.
Favrioute song in the charts right now?
Do I wanna know is amazing. The bass at the beginning is just the best.
