2. Hello “
“ , How are you?
• Hey, I’m very well thank you, mostly tired but I
can get over that!
3. That’s good, so on with the questions!
How did you get started in writing music?
• Well basically, when I was younger, maybe
about eight years old, my dad bought an
acoustic guitar and taught me how to play. I
decided that with the chords I learnt, I would
write a song to accompany it. I think the song
was called “Highway To Love” or something
like that, it was rubbish but I guess I eventually
got better!
4. Have you always known you wanted a career in
music or was it a little unexpected?
• I guess I’ve known for a while I wanted to
write and play music but I never thought I
would get good enough to actually have a fanbase and for people to like it.
5. Ha-ha, so who is your biggest
influence?
• I guess it would have to be my dad considering
he is the one who taught me how to play. But
then again, arctic monkeys have always been
my favourite band and have influenced some
of my musical choices in life so I guess them
aswell.
6. Talking of family, do any of your family
or friends think it is crazy how quickly
you’ve shot to fame?
• Yeah, they all think its mental! I don’t think
I’ve ever seen them so overwhelmed. Then
again, so are the fans. Honestly, they are so
supportive but some of the fans from when I
first started out on YouTube just cant believe
that their little secret isn’t theirs anymore.
7. Talking of fans aswell, how are they? Are
they crazy obsessed or are they calm about
the whole thing?
• Most of them are pretty chilled but you will
always get that one crazy fan! Mine is a girl
called Abbie, she comes to all my concerts and
has probably been there since YouTube. She
always gives me presents and is the sweetest.
I couldn’t ask for better fans.
8. That’s sweet, in your opinion, how have you
managed to stay so humble? Considering you’ve
sold out 3 nights at the O2 Arena, that’s
amazing!
• To be perfectly honest, I have no idea myself.
Three nights is just awesome. Thats like what,
60,000 people who want to see me play. Its
just…I have no words.
9. You’re 17! Aren’t you scared at all?
• I know that’s just what I don’t get. It just
proves to me that adults like my music aswell
because I don’t think 60,000 teenagers will
come and see me. I am absolutely terrified.
That’s the biggest audience I have ever played
to. The supports have even played bigger
audiences than me so I’m sure that they will
calm me down before the shows.
10. Any hints to who the support acts are?
• Of course not!
11. Aw, damn. Any tips for the aspiring
artists of how to shoot to fame as
quickly as you did?
• Just be yourself. Don’t let anyone change you
because that’s when people start to get rude
and too big for their boots. Play what you
want to play and be yourself!
