The rising RnB star Alice Morris is here to tell us how her dedication to music and her hard work has
led her to be one of the most recognisable idols to young teenagers and adults today.
Did you expect to be this big?
No, Not at all. I initially expected at this present time to be performing in small venues just more
frequently. It just so happened that my videos on YouTube were spotted by a recording label and
that’s when everything seemed to lift off for me. Out of all the amazing videos of both young and old
singers trying to make it into the industry on YouTube, mine was spotted and reached 1million
views. I was in luck I guess (Laughs).
The RnB industry itself is hard enough to break in to, let alone the music industry. How have you
found it?
I know, I know. I’ve had such support from a lot of artists including Usher and Drake. They have
linked my new music video to their twitter pages so without them it probably wouldn’t have had as
much support as I have and am continuously having. I’ve even been given recently, an opportunity
to support such an amazing artists. I can’t let you know to much about that yet, so everyone just
watch out.
Oo, we will look forward to it. We all love your new music video Alice, Did you have fun producing it?
It was one of the best things I have ever done in my life. Honestly, I can’t even describe the emotions
that I was feeling. Everyone was so lovely on set. I was lucky enough to share the spotlight with my
male model friend omari deaxon who played the role as my on screen lover. I enjoyed it a lot
(laughs).
Yes, we have seen a lot of comments about this new man. Anything romance going to continue off
set?
Ohh nooo. We are business partners only (laughs) He’s a lovely man and very good looking so ladies
get searching.
Where did you get your musical inspiration from?
My grandad was by far the man who influenced me down this career path the most. From a young
age, he would encourage me to sing and said I had such a talent. He was like my own personal
singing coach. The support I had from my Grandad and the support I have from my family today is
definitely the reason as to why I am where I am today.
What artists do you take creative ideas from?
Beyonce and Rihanna are two of my favourite soloists. Their music is just so diverse, reaching out to
an audience of all ages. That’s what i wish to do. I wish to make music for everyone, not just a
specific audience. In my eyes, music is to be enjoyed and free not controlled and specific.
If you had any advice for young aspiring singers out there, what would it be?
Whatever you are doing, do not give up. People may laugh and judge you but who will be judging
when you come out on top. Use the internet to leak your videos because someone will spot and
appreciate your talent. If you give up, you have no hope with achieving what you want to achieve.
