It’s not every day that you get to interview the most exciting new kids on the block but
today I had the pleasure of interveiwing new Rock duo, Hypnotic, for the first edition of Riot.
The duo happily accepted my invitation and joined me on the comfy new sofa in our brand
new office space. They released their first UK single over a year ago now and have just been
going higher and higher over the past months, selling 10,000 copies of their single in the UK
alone. They are taking the world by storm. We sat down with the girls, Roisin and Molly,
after a very fun photoshoot where they did nothing but joke around, to find out all about
them and what they have planned for their long, successful future ahead.
So, how are you feeling today?
Roisin: I’m genuinely so excited to be here for the first edition, it is such a pleasure and an
honour.
Molly: I’ll admit I was a little bit worried because I always get nervous before an interview
but now I’m here I feel super relaxed, this office is so calming.
What was it that started this all off for the pair of you then?
R: Both my parents are huge Rock music fans, my dad himself used to be in a band, so from
a young age I have influenced been by them to get playing the guitar and practice my
singing. My mom signed me up to singing classes before I could even talk.
M: For me I honestly think it was Roisin, we’ve been friends forever and she was, still is,
insanely passionate about music and I think she just rubbed off on me, I then got my first
2. guitar from my parents and Roisin taught me how to play it. Luckily I already had a natural
singing talent; I don’t know how I got so lucky.
R: I think for both of us the main reason we started making music is down to our incredibly
supportive parents, without them we wouldn’t have even started this.
You’ve known one another for a long time now, what’s the one thing that’s kept you
together over the years and kept this friendship going?
M: For me I think it’s because she’s more like a sister to me rather than a friend, we have
our little fallings out but at the end of the day nothing is going to separate us, we are bound
for life.
R: Aw moll! That’s super sweet and to be completly honest I agree, things have gotten
between us in the past but this bond that we have is like nothing else in this world.
Your first single, ‘Heart on Fire’, is doing amazingly well, why do you thinkpeople, not just
fans, have taken such a likening to it?
R: For the fans I think they love it because they can tell how from the heart and genuine it is,
the lyrics give out a really positive message to them. They can really relate to it as well and
that’s probably why so many others have really taken to the song.
I know fans can be a bit crazy sometimes so what has been the weirdest fan experience
you’ve ever had?
M: Oh I have a brilliant fan story; I’ve been dying to share it! So the other day I was out
doing the grocery shop for the apartment and ‘Heart on Fire’ starts playing over the
speakers, I of course think nothing of it and just carry on shopping. Then when the song
3. finished this voice speaks and she’s like ‘Hi Molly, I know you’re in the shop, I love you and
would love a picture with you.’ I’m baffled at this point, if she had just come up to me it
would’ve been less weird so she then hunts me down and then gives me this massive bag of
treats, takes a picture with me and then leaves. It was so bizare.
R: I’ve not really had any weird fan experiences; they’ve all been pretty chill to be fair. We
do get regularly stopped in the streets but we aren’t that well known for them to go too
insane with us, I don’t need a group of bodyguards with me 24/7 just yet.
We all know that you are going to have an amazing careerahead of you, what are your
goals/ambitions for the future?
R: We both always say how much we’d love to perform at Glastonbury, that’s a definite life
goal!
M: Definitely, if that happens I could die the next day and be extremely content with the life
I had. But a personal goal would be to meet my muscial idol Hayley Williams; I’d be over the
moon if that happened.
It’s a fact that these girls are going to go far in the music industry; they are genuine, down-
to-earth girls with incredible musical talent, definitely worthy of performing at Glastonbury.
