Questionnaire
Results
Do you watch documentaries?
Yes
No
Sometimes
A majority of the target audience do watch documentaries, and therefore
producing a documentary on Meninism would be likely to be watched, as it is a
popular programme for young people.
How often do you watch
documentaries?
Every day
A few times a week
Once a week
Less than once a week
Only when a documentary I
really want to watch is on
A majority of people would watch documentaries only if it is on something they
oarticuarly want to watch. Therefore, we need to make sure that the documentary
is of good quality and would appeal to the target audience, as well as it needing
good advertisement, to make sure that people know when it is on and exactly
what it is about, to encourage people to watch it. This can be done through the
radio broadcast and the double page spread.
What is your favourite documentary?
• Bronies
• Grizzlyman
• Amy
• Supersize Me
• Harry Potter and Me
We will therefore watch some of these documentaries and decide which aspects
we will include in our own.
Do you feel that documentaries have
influenced your opinion on different topics?
Yes
No
Not sure
A majority of the target audience have felt influenced by a particular documentary,
and therefore we know that it is possible to change someone’s opinion based on a
documentary. Although our documentary is not purely being created to change
someone’s opinion, but more so on increasing knowledge, we still want the
documentary to enable the audience to form their own opinions, and therefore
should give enough information to enable this.
Which documentary has influenced
your opinion the most?
• He named me Malala
• Blackfish
• Supersize Me
• Amy
• Give me Shelter
• Grizzlyman
We will look at these documentaries to see which aspects of them we can use in our
own.
Which style of narrator do you prefer?
Voice over
On screen narrator
No presenter
Voice over is the most popular and so we will use this. We were planning on using
a voice over from the beginning as that way we can show as much background
footage as possible and the audience can stay focused on the information/
interviews rather than being led by a presenter.
One sided opinion or both sides?
One clear opinion
Show both sides
Not sure
We have decided to make our documentary using both sides of the
argument (E.G. Meninism is a good thing vs Meninism is a bad thing)
That way the audience can make their opinion based on all of the
information.
Can documentaries help your
understanding of a topic?
Yes
No
Documentaries have shown to increase knowledge/understanding and therefore we
will include a good amount of knowledge so that the audience can learn from it.
Would a documentary on
feminism/meninism interest you?
Yes
No
Not sure
Therefore, from results, a documentary on Meninism would be successful.
