INT. TIMPSON LTD. MORNING
The camera crew walk around Cambridge until they arrive at
Timpson LTD ready to meet up for an interview with this man
about repairing shoes and why he is still doing this.
INTERVIEWER
Good morning! We were wondering if
we could ask you some questions
about what is it that you do for a
short documentary. Then maybe show
us the process.
PERSON 1
Morning. Yes, that's absolutely
fine. I've got some shoes that need
repairing so you could come with me
and i could show you.
INTERVIEWER
Yes that would be great thank you.
PERSON 1
Right, come this way.
The man leads us to the back room where he shows us some
shoes that need repairing and explains to us what is
actually wrong with the shoe and how he is going to fix it.
INTERVIEWER
Wow! That's a lot of shoes you've
got there. What one are you going
to show us?
PERSON 1
I think this one will be the best
example.
INTERVIEWER
Okay, so what's wrong with it?
PERSON 1
(Explains what he's doing)
INTERVIEWER
So how long does it normally take
you to repair a shoe?
PERSON 1
Well that really depends on what is
wrong with the shoe as there are a
lot of things that can go wrong
with a shoe and depending on how

bad the damage is it'd take longer.
INTERVIEWER
How much do you get paid by shoe if
you don't mind e asking?
PERSON 1
That again depends on the damage
and also on the kind of shoe
because people often bring me some
old fashioned shoes and sometimes
its hard to get the same material
or sometimes they don't even make
that material anymore so it its
rare then the price goes up.
INTERVIEWER
So do you get many costumers to get
their shoes repaired nowadays?
PERSON 1
Well actually i do get some
costumers who come here quite
often. Its difficult now really
because whenever your shoes break
you dont think "oh im going to take
them to get repaired" Now you just
simply get rid of them and buy a
new pair.
GUY 1
That is very true, i do that
(laughs) Why do you think that
happens?
PERSON 1
Well i think because people dont
see the point of repairing shoes
which could cost them a lot if
they've bought it for a few quid.
GUY 1
So for example if you bought some
boots from Primark?
GUY 1
Exactly! if you bought them for 15
pounds, you wouldnt pay 20 to get
them repaired. You'd throw them out
and buy another pair, maybe in a
different colour this time or
different style.

After the interview we go around the shop and film some
footage of the shop and the different kind of tools he uses
to repair the shoes.
EXT. CAMBRIDGE. PARK. MORNING.
We then leave the shop and walk around Cambridge to find
some people to interview about their shoes.
INTERVIEWER
Excuse me, would you mind answering
some questions about your shoes? It
wont take long.
WOMAN 1
About my shoes? Yeah...I guess...
INTERVIEWER
I see you're wearing high heels.
How much did they cost you?
WOMAN 1
Erm, i'd say they were about 25
pounds.
INTERVIEWER
Not too bad, do you wear them
because they're comfortable or
because you like what they look
like?
WOMAN 1
Well I wear them because I work in
an office so they look smart but at
the same time they are actually
really comfortable considering they
are high heels.
INTERVIEWER
(laughs)
Well that's great then, isn't it?
So how many pair of heels do you
own?
WOMAN 1
I would say I own about... Maybe 7
pairs. But i only really wear 3,
maybe 4 pairs out of the 7.
INTERVIEWER
So quite a few then... How comes
you don't wear the other ones
(MORE)

INTERVIEWER (CONT'D)
WOMAN 1
They're kind of old apart from this
pair which the heel kind of broke
and i haven't got round to throwing
them out.
(laughs)
INTERVIEWER
Have you ever thought of taking
them to Timpson to repair them?
WOMAN 1
Oh i didn't know they still did
that...
INTERVIEWER
Well that might be worth looking
into if you really like that pair.
Anyway thank you for your time.
EXT. CAMBRIDGE. TOWN CENTRE. AFTERNOON.
The camera crew walks around looking for shoe shops such as
Clarks, new look, shoe zone etc. They see Clarks and they
walk into the shop.
INTERVIEWER
Hello, we're making a documentary
about shoes and we were wondering
if it would be okay if we asked you
some questions about your shoes?
WOMAN 2
Hello, of course.
INTERVIEWER
Would you mind telling us how much
are those pairs of boots?
WOMAN 2
This pair of are £69.99.
INTERVIEWER
Oh wow okay. How comes the price is
so high?
WOMAN 2
Mainly because of the material that
it is made out of and the comfort
and designer.

INTERVIEWER
So do you get a lot of costumers?
WOMAN 2
Yeah we do, we roughly get about
50-60 costumers per day.
The camera crew looks around the different kind of shoes and
their prices.
INT. CAMBRIDGE. NEW LOOK. AFTERNOON.
The camera crew walks into New Looks and goes to the back of
the shop to look for the show section.
INTERVIEWER
I didn't expect to see so many
shoes in this shop considering is
mainly a clothing kind of shop...
GUY 1
Jesus, neither did I. Do you want
to interview the girl working over
there?
The camera crew walks over to the girl who is sorting the
shoes out.
INTERVIEWER
Hey, you alright? We're making a
documentary about shoes and you
obviously have quite a few there
(laughs) would you mind if we ask
you some question?
GIRL 1
Hey, i've just started working here
so i will try to be as helpful as i
can (laughs)
GUY 1
They're simple questions, don't
worry.
INTERVIEWER
So how much are your shoes in here?
Roughly.
GIRL 1
I'd say they're about 25 - 65. They
don't tend to higher than that.

INTERVIEWER
Oh right so there's a variety of
prices then.
GIRL 1
Yeah, i mean the most expensive
shoes are usually boots because of
their material and how common they
are.
EXT. CAMBRIDGE. STREET. AFTERNOON.
The camera crew walks out of Clarks and we get a talking
head (mid shot) of one of our guys taking about the shoes as
we walk.
GUY 1
Considering what the prices are
like in Clarks and New Look im
curious about what they'd be like
in Primark...
INTERVIEWER
Might be worth having a look then.
INT. CAMBRIDGE. PRIMARK. AFTERNOON.
The camera crew walks into Primark and finds the show
section.
GUY 1
Oh look, they're here! Right so we
have this pair for £25 and... This
pair for £8.
INTERVIEWER
I really don't see anymore shoes
that are over £25.
GUY 1
No neither do i, this one is £20...
INTERVIEWER
So the most expensive shoes in
Primark are £25 which funny enough
are the cheapest ones in Clarks and
New look.
GUY 1
I wonder why its so cheap compared
to the other shops...

Hey would you mind answering some
question about your shoes?
MAN 1
Yeah of course, just give me a
second to sort some stuff out and
i'll be right back with you.
The camera crew look around the different kind of shoes and
their prices and how many pair of shoes the customers are
getting, noticing some of them don't even look at the price.
MAN 1
Hey, so what do you wanna know?
INTERVIEWER
Hey, we just wanted to know why the
shoes are so cheap compared to
other shops like Clarks and New
Look?
MAN 1
I think its mainly because primark
has become such a big company that
helps them get more money by
selling them cheaper. Because their
products are cheaper people buy
more.
EXT. CAMBRIDGE. STREET. NIGHT.
The camera crew goes out at night on a saturday to see what
kind of shoes people are wearing.
GUY 1
Okay, well over there, there's a
bunch of girls outside that
nightclub and they seem to be
dressed smart.
INTERVIEWER
Well what are we waiting for? Lets
go.
The camera crew run across the street to catch up with the
group of people who are standing outside smoking, before
they go in.
GUY 1
Well good night people, i see
you're all wearing extremely high
