Configuration of BIND DNS Server On CentOS 8

(like phonebook in our mobile ) Each device connected to the Internet has a unique IP address which other machines use to find the device. DNS translates domain names to IP address and vise versa.
- 3. There are two types of DNS queries: Iterative: Positive Reply: Negative Reply: Referral : Recursive: Positive reply: Negative Reply:
- 4. BIND (Berkeley Internet name domain) is the most commonly used DNS (domain name system) server on the Internet, and it is the defacto standard on Linux and other Unix- like operating systems. BIND is open source software that enables you to publish your Domain Name System (DNS) information on the Internet, and to resolve DNS queries for your users.
- 5. Step 1. Install the required packages: # yum install -y bind bind-utils bind-libs Step 2. Verify that the packages have been installed: # rpm -qa | grep ^bind bind-utils-9.7.0-5.P2.el6.x86_64 bind-9.7.0-5.P2.el6.x86_64 bind-libs-9.7.0-5.P2.el6.x86_64 Step 3. Ensure that the service is set to start on system boot: # chkconfig named on Step 4.
