lifestyle chats, outfit inspo, travel tips,
international city guides, and a variety of
workout and wellness topics.

2. The images show one of the
post from Among Other
Things and BuzzFeed which
presents the difference in
writing style between them.
BuzzFeed’s news posts are
wordy and normally have few
pictures for each news but
Among Other Things‘ posts are
normally filled with lots of
pictures and less wordy than
posts in BuzzFeed. This is
because BuzzFeed wishes to
deliver as much information as
possible for their audiences
through one news post while
Among Other Things wishes to
attract her audiences through
lots of pictures and shows her
audiences her true lifestyle
through the images on her
blog.
3. The images show the landing page
of Among Other Things and
BuzzFeed. BuzzFeed’s landing page
is more loaded with thumbnails
compared to Among Other Things.
This is due to Among Other Things
is a lifestyle blog while BuzzFeed is
a journalism blog. They serve
different purposes. Lifestyle
bloggers have to create the
relaxing vibes to attract its
audience to read their blog’s
content. Audiences would not
want to read a lifestyle blog that
will stress themselves out.
Journalism blogs have to create the
professional vibes and have a clean
and informative layouts to attract
its audience as they provide news
for public. This will make Among
Other Things more stylish
presented compared with
BuzzFeed.
4. Through my observation, although Among Other Things and BuzzFeed both have used images and videos for their postings,
but their commitment on videos are very different. Among Other Things has only five videos on her blogs after blogging for
nine years. Whereas BuzzFeed, has a section specifically for video postings where they upload more than 10 videos everyday.
What both of them do similarly on their blog is that they use images very frequently on their postings. Besides images and
videos, BuzzFeed does something special, which is it has a Quizzes section where people can do lots of different quizzes there
everyday.
5. The above images show another difference of Among Other Things and BuzzFeed, which is their methods of advertising.
BuzzFeed uses pop-up advertisements for the advertising purpose while Among Other Things uses blog post to advertise.
There are pop-up advertisements on BuzzFeed while there are no pop-up advertisements on Among Other Things. Through
my research, BuzzFeed has a global audience of 650M+ people. Advertisers can connect their brand with these huge
amount of people through BuzzFeed. Although there are no pop-up advertisements on Among Other Things, but it does
promote and advertise things through the blog posts. For example, the image above shows that Hallie promoted dress from
Rachel Pally through a blog post. She took the photos of her wearing the dress and included the hyperlink points to the
selling website of the dress. This is an alternative method of advertising.
6. One of the huge differences between Among Other Things and BuzzFeed is their
frequency of posting. Through my observation, Hallie normally has two blog posts
per month while BuzzFeed updates their postings every hour. Hallie only share
events and experiences that are important to her on blog, which are not
happening everyday. BuzzFeed is a journalism blog. Hence, every news that has
the values has to be posted on it in the shortest time after an event happens in
order for its audiences to get updates as soon as possible. You can see the high
frequency of postings on BuzzFeed through the above images while the other
image shows the two blog posts on Among Other Things in November 2018.
