At the end of our wedding ceremony, the wedding party started to walk down the aisle just like in every other wedding , but as we get to the end of the aisle I notice that all of our attendants are stopped, looking up to the balcony – in awe. I look up and realize they are looking up at my new cousin, Rosie, but they all know her as Rosa Parks, the Mother of the Civil Rights Movement.
Today, I’d like to share with you through my journey and my cousin’s journey why your legacy is important to you, your family and your community.. I know that many of you have faced many challenges in your lives - finding your legacy comes with struggles, uphill battles and many challenges – it doesn’t mean that you are failing - - it means that you are one-step closer to accomplishing a great goal.
Author and Audience
An author is anyone who communicates through writing, speech, visuals, audio, or tactile means. An author's background, including factors like ethnicity, gender, culture, sexuality, wealth, religion, age, politics, education, and parents influences how they see the world and who they communicate with. An audience is any recipient of communication who is also affected by their own background in how they receive, perceive, and understand the author's message based on factors like the author's.

Jazz originated in the early 20th century from a combination of African and European music traditions. While jazz was popular in its early decades, its sales and audience have sharply declined since the 1970s according to industry data. By 2008, jazz sales accounted for only 1.1% of total music sales compared to 3.0% in 1999. Arts projects that focus on engagement and collaboration outside the arts sector are sometimes the most successful, but are often the most difficult to complete successfully. A practitioner’s seasoned perspective on creating work that engages and transforms communities, we will learn about projects with New York City’s Department of Environmental Protection/Local 147 Sandhog’s Union, a city-wide gathering at Union Square four days after 9/11, and a national arts project with 30 minimum wage workers and 30 multi-millionaires. Presentation will also include Art At Work is a national initiative to improve municipal government and the communities they serve through strategic arts projects with municipal employees, elected officials, residents and artists. Creative Placemaking with people at the center, AAW strengthens community resilience and generates cultural, civic and economic vibrancy by engaging people in making and experiencing art that matters.

Sunwoo Park -Psychology Attitudes Toward Gender Over Past Century
Over the past century, attitudes toward gender have changed significantly. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, sexism against women was common as women faced legal and social discrimination. The 1960s saw the rise of second-wave feminism and women's rights movements advocating for equality. Through feminist efforts and legal/political reforms over the 20th century, stereotypical gender roles gradually shifted as women gained increased rights and access to education, jobs, and political participation that had previously been denied to them.
Fewer southern accents in Triangle area, NC State professor finds
Robin Dodsworth, a linguistics professor at NC State, conducted a study analyzing the accents of 300 Raleigh residents over 10 years. She found that the Southern accent is becoming less common in Raleigh due to an influx of non-Southern migrants for jobs and cultural norms being imported. Younger residents and white-collar workers were found to have weaker Southern accents compared to older residents and blue-collar workers. Further studies are planned to analyze accent shifts in other North Carolina cities like Charlotte.

Students from across New York City presented their civic action plans at Civics Day at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian. Students had worked all semester on community issues and coalitions. Democracy Coaches saw how much the students had learned. Chanda Daniels and Grace Reilley won the Change-Maker award for their class. Generation Citizen at Pace University also hosted a successful event on social movements that attracted over 40 visitors. The organization had a successful first semester with recognition from the university.

My research is about the history of two popular culture category broadcasts that will allow you to understand how social values have changed about women. My artifacts/expressions from the past are the television series, Bewitched, starring Elizabeth Montgomery and Dick York, from the year 1964 and Everything, But a Men, starring Jimmy Jean Louis and Monica Calhoun. Those broadcast biases underscore the double-standards about the role of women through the transformation of cultural and social norms. This paper aims to use the two culture category broadcasts to compare social issue messaging about the role of women from the 1960s and to now. Throughout history, consider that women have always played a significant, yet devalued, role in our society. Women have raised presidents, professors, doctors, while managing all aspects of family and household etc. However, society is still grappling with acceptance of women’s success and reconciling the changing role of women as they weave across the spectrum of choices in either becoming a wife, mother, a professional women or the inevitable and societal role of fulfilling all three.
In 1964 when the first episode bewitched came out, they portray woman as a person that need to stay home, clean, serve there Husband, the house and kids only. Then, on the “Everything But A Man” which came out in the twenty first century it continuously portrait woman as a person that need to continuous to do the same house essential duties plus a successful career. This movie was about a cheerfully single career woman finds unexpected love with a man from another culture, but their drastic lifestyle differences cause as much conflict as there is chemistry between them. The staring man in the movie used with a woman that always say yes master and always in the kitchen no matter what if the men does not have too much to offer financially, in the movie the express that women even pouch themselves in a higher level education they still expected to cook and treat him as a king and provided for the family. The society need to understand that a woman is very powerful tool that can be used for the success of the world. But man feel intimated when an independent woman can manage to reach professional success, which make them feel that they are losing control of their dominant side. Because we can still be successful in career as well in the family without getting extra help. Again it’s our loss because society always asking us to modified our life to accommodate the way the society portrait us. The Media that are play a great role on woman success today has not done a great job, by sharing with the world, the evolution from the kitchen to the desk with letting the world known that we do not belong to the kitchen only.
