2. My Research Topic Is...
I chose to delve into the topic of the lack of representation of people within
America. This would include not only women, but also people of color as well.
With the vast amount of cultures that have planted themselves into the United
States, it can easily be seen as ludicrous how the country is still portrayed with
little diversity. There are a plethora of faces that can be represented as America
yet there is still a common portrayal.

3. History of Misrepresentation
There is obvious reason as to why there is a lack of representation within this
country. Starting off with the fact that passing of civil rights and women’s
suffrage is considerably recent, the country is likely still trying to adapt to the
changes from how things used to be. Although, the necessity to bring more
diversity and showing the presence of it is something that is already at its due
time.

5. Questions
● How much progress has been made in the country towards more
representation and diversity?
● Is there a substantial difference towards having representation in movies
and professional settings or careers as opposed to not?
● Why is process of progress long and tedious?
● Can children be influenced negatively by lack of representation?

6. Viewpoint of Misrepresentation I Disagree With
There was one article I came across discussing how representation does not
matter. It spoke how in reality having representation does not mean anything for
minorities and it does not make a difference putting in an effort in film and
media.
