Enhancement of Single Moving Average Time Series Model Using Rough k-Means fo...IJERA Editor
In the last decade, real–time audio and video services have gained much popularity, and now occupying a large portion of the total network traffic in the Internet. As the real-time services are becoming mainstream the demand for Quality of Service (QoS) is greater than ever before. It is necessary to use the network resources to the fullest, to satisfy the increasing demand for QoS. To solve this issue, we need to apply a prediction model for network traffic, on the basis of network management such as congestion control and bandwidth location. In this paper, we propose an integrated model that combines Rough K-Means (RKM) clustering with Single Moving Average (SMA) time series model to improve prediction loading packets of network traffic. The single moving average time series prediction model is used to predict loading of packets volume in real network traffic. Further, clustering granules obtained by using rough k-means is used to analyze the network data of each year separately. The proposed model is an integration of the prediction results that were obtained from conventional single moving average prediction model with centriods of clusters that obtained from rough k-means clustering. The model is evaluated using on line network traffic data that has been collected from WIDE backbone Network MSE, RMSE and MAPE metrics are used to examine the results of the integrated model. The experimental results show that the integrated model can be an effective way to improve prediction accuracy achieved with the help of rough k-means clustering. A Comparative result between conventional prediction model and our integrated model is presented.

The Impact of Data Replication on Job Scheduling Performance in Hierarchical ...graphhoc
In data-intensive applications data transfer is a primary cause of job execution delay. Data access time depends on bandwidth. The major bottleneck to supporting fast data access in Grids is the high latencies of Wide Area Networks and Internet. Effective scheduling can reduce the amount of data transferred across the internet by dispatching a job to where the needed data are present. Another solution is to use a data replication mechanism. Objective of dynamic replica strategies is reducing file access time which leads to reducing job runtime. In this paper we develop a job scheduling policy and a dynamic data replication strategy, called HRS (Hierarchical Replication Strategy), to improve the data access efficiencies. We study our approach and evaluate it through simulation. The results show that our algorithm has improved 12% over the current strategies
Mobile Agents based Energy Efficient Routing for Wireless Sensor NetworksEswar Publications
Energy Efficiency and prolonged network lifetime are few of the major concern areas. Energy consumption rated of sensor nodes can be reduced in various ways. Data aggregation, result sharing and filtration of aggregated data among sensor nodes deployed in the unattended regions have been few of the most researched areas in the field of wireless sensor networks. While data aggregation is concerned with minimizing the information transfer from source to sink to reduce network traffic and removing congestion in network, result sharing focuses on sharing of information among agents pertinent to the tasks at hand and filtration of aggregated data so as to remove redundant information. There exist various algorithms for data aggregation and filtration using different mobile agents. In this proposed work same mobile agent is used to perform both tasks data aggregation and data filtration. This approach advocates the sharing of resources and reducing the energy consumption level of sensor nodes.

Real-time PMU Data Recovery Application Based on Singular Value DecompositionPower System Operation
Phasor measurement units (PMUs) allow for the enhancement of power system monitoring and control applications and they will prove even more crucial in the future, as the grid becomes more decentralized and subject to higher uncertainty. Tools that improve PMU data quality and facilitate data analytics workflows are thus needed. In this work, we leverage a previously described algorithm to develop a python application for PMU data recovery. Because of its intrinsic nature, PMU data can be dimensionally reduced using singular value decomposition (SVD). Moreover, the high spatio-temporal correlation can be leveraged to estimate the value of measurements that are missing due to drop-outs. These observations are at the base of the data recovery application described in this work. Extensive testing is performed to study the performance under different data drop-out scenarios, and the results show very high recovery accuracy. Additionally, the application is designed to take advantage of a high performance PMU data platform called PredictiveGrid™, developed by PingThings.

Building Programming Abstractions for Wireless Sensor Networks Using Watershe...M H
The availability and quality of information extracted from Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) revolutionised a wide range of application areas. The success of any WSN application is, nonetheless, determined by the ability to retrieve information with the required level of accuracy, within specified time constraints, and with minimum resource utilisation. This paper presents a new approach to localised information extraction that utilises the Watershed segmentation algorithm to dynamically group nodes into segments, which can be used as programming abstractions upon which different query operations can be performed. Watershed results in a set of well delimited areas, such that the number of necessary operations (communication and computation) to answer a query are minimised. This paper presents a fully asynchronous Watershed implementation, where nodes can compute their local data in parallel and independently from one another. The preliminary experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach is able to significantly reduce the query processing cost and time without involving any loss of efficiency.

THE DEVELOPMENT AND STUDY OF THE METHODS AND ALGORITHMS FOR THE CLASSIFICATIO...IJCNCJournal
This paper represents the results of the research, which have allowed us to develop a hybrid
approach to the processing, classification, and control of traffic routes. The approach enables to
identify traffic flows in the virtual data center in real-time systems. Our solution is based on the
methods of data mining and machine learning, which enable to classify traffic more accurately
according to more criteria and parameters. As a practical result, the paper represents the
algorithmic solution of the classification of the traffic flows of cloud applications and services
embodied in a module for the controller of the software-defined network. This solution enables to
increase the efficiency of handling user requests to cloud applications and reduce the response
time, which has a positive effect on the quality of service in the network of the virtual data center
Approximation of regression-based fault minimization for network trafficTELKOMNIKA JOURNAL
This research associates three distinct approaches for computer network traffic prediction. They are the traditional stochastic gradient descent (SGD) using a few random samplings instead of the complete dataset for each iterative calculation, the gradient descent algorithm (GDA) which is a well-known optimization approach in deep learning, and the proposed method. The network traffic is computed from the traffic load (data and multimedia) of the computer network nodes via the Internet. It is apparent that the SGD is a modest iteration but can conclude suboptimal solutions. The GDA is a complicated one, can function more accurate than the SGD but difficult to manipulate parameters, such as the learning rate, the dataset granularity, and the loss function. Network traffic estimation helps improve performance and lower costs for various applications, such as an adaptive rate control, load balancing, the quality of service (QoS), fair bandwidth allocation, and anomaly detection. The proposed method confirms optimal values out of parameters using simulation to compute the minimum figure of specified loss function in each iteration.
Energy-efficient data-aggregation for optimizing quality of service using mo...IJECEIAES
Quality of service (QoS) is essential for carrying out data transmission using resource-constrained sensor nodes in wireless sensor network (WSN). The introduction of mobile agent-based data aggregation is reported to offer energy efficiency; however, it has limitations, especially using a single mobile agent, where QoS optimization is not feasible. A review of existing studies showcases some dedicated attempts to use a mobile agent-based approach and address QoS enhancements. However, they were never combined studied. Therefore, this paper introduces a unique concept of retaining maximum QoS performance during data aggregation using a single mobile agent. The model introduces a unique communication framework, transmission provisioning using exceptional routine management, and simplified energy modeling. The proposed model has aimed for a lower delay and faster data aggregation speed with lower consumption of transmittance energy. The implementation and assessment of the model are carried out considering the challenging environment of WSN with multiple scales of data priority. The proposed model also contributes to evolving out with simplified communication vectors in a highly decentralized method. MATLAB's simulation outcome shows that the proposed system offers better delay performance, optimal energy management, and faster response time than existing schemes.

AN OPEN JACKSON NETWORK MODEL FOR HETEROGENEOUS INFRASTRUCTURE AS A SERVICE O...IJCNCJournal
Cloud computing is an environment which provides services for user demand such as software, platform, infrastructure. Applications which are deployed on cloud computing have become more varied and complex to adapt to increase end-user quantity and fluctuating workload. One popular characteristic of
cloud computing is the heterogeneity of network, hosts and virtual machines (VM). There were many studies on cloud computing modeling based on queuing theory, but most studies have focused on homogeneity characteristic. In this study, we propose a cloud computing model based on open Jackson
network for multi-tier application systems which are deployed on heterogeneous VMs of IaaS cloud computing. The important metrics are analyzed in our experiments such as mean waiting time; mean request quantity, the throughput of the system. Besides that, metrics in model is used to modify number VMs
allocated for applications. Result of experiments shows that open queue network provides high efficiency.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
1. Distributed Web Systems Performance Forecasting Using Turning
Bands Method
Abstract
With the increasing development of distributed computer systems (DCSs) in networked industrial and
manufacturing applications on the Worldwide Web (WWW) platform, including service-oriented architecture
and Web of Things QoS-aware systems, it has become important to predict the Web performance. In this paper,
we present Web performance prediction in time and in space by making a forecast of a Web resource
downloading using the Turning Bands (TB) geostatistical simulation method. Real-life data for the research
were obtained in an active experiment conducted by our multi-agent measurement system WING performing
monitoring of a group of Web servers worldwide from agents localized in different geographical localizations in
Poland. The results show good quality of Web performance prediction made by means of the TB method,
especially in the case when European Web servers were monitored by an MWING agent localized in Gliwice,
Poland.
Existing System
The aim of this paper is to present a robust spatio-temporal prediction method and algorithm that can provide an
efficient forecasting of a Web client-perceived performance on the World Wide Web. This may provide
efficient QoS for individual nodes of Web-based DCS and enable to improve operation of the whole system.
The predicted performance characteristics can be used in selection of the best performance Web server and best
in space and in time. Here, we propose to make Web performance prediction with the use of the Turning Bands
(TB) geostatistical method some of the main contributions of the paper are as follows. The first is the
introduction of a new spatio-temporal methodological approach to the performance prediction of Internetbased
DCSs, established on the theory and application of geostatistics. The second is a Web performance prediction

2. algorithm based on the widely proven TB simulation method, which gives efficient and accurate forecasting, as
well as reliable results.
Disadvantages
The third contribution is that our analysis uses real-life data collections gathered for various clients
monitoring many Web servers localized in different Internet geographic locations.
At present, to the best of the authors’ knowledge, the approach presented in this paper is unique, and
there is no similar problem statement in the literature with which to compare.
The present the comparison of our TB-based Web performance prediction method with other spatio-
temporal prediction approaches, which, like the TB method, were studied
Proposed System
The methodology of the proposed approach and the algorithm of the TB method, which will be used for spatio-
temporal forecasting of Web system performance (WSP). The basic assumption of the TBmethod is as follows:
the field to be simulated is second-order stationary and isotropic; at each point, the values of the field are
normally distributed and have zero mean. In other cases, the transformation to Gaussian with subsequent
subtraction of the mean could be applied. The next assumption is the knowledge of the covariance C(r) of the
field which is to be simulated. agents implemented in different programming languages, so it can be run in both
Linux and Windows operating environments. Agents perform measurements and monitoring by means of
common system functionalities as well as on open developments aiming to match specific aims of
measurements. Common functionalities include: agent management, measurement scheduling, heartbeat (status
and conditions of an agent), data model, synchronization, local databases, and central database support. The
network delay, the web server latency, and the delay caused by the special web infrastructure, built on the
client-to-server communication path to reduce the response time, if only exist. Finally, a web client always
perceives the grand total delay resulted from all activities.
Advantages
The information regarding an area of forecast, a time of forecast, a geostatistical method, and an agent
from which datasets were collected.
As a result, one could obtain spatial-temporal database and rastermap, where the analyses of variability
for whole space not only for given points could be performed.
3. These two methods have been used by us because they use an acceptable amount of casts.
Geostatisticalmethods are developing significantly in traditional sciences for geostatistics like climate
studies, geology, ecology, or agriculture
Modules Description
Forecasting
There are generally two ways of solution of problems caused due to the imperfect performance of the Web. The
first is making improvements in the quality of communication protocols, including the development of real-time
protocols, protocol tuning, as well as upgrading existing network technologies to support needed
communication requirements. This development is finely realized for Web-based systems of general usage and
includes, for example, content distribution networks.
Client-perceived performance
The aim of this paper is to present a robust spatio-temporal prediction method and algorithm that can
provide an efficient forecasting of a Web client-perceived performance on the World Wide Web. This may
provide efficient QoS for individual nodes of Web-based DCS and enable to improve operation of the whole
system. The predicted performance characteristics can be used in selection of the best performance Web server
and best in space and in time. Here, we propose to make Web performance prediction with the use of the
Turning Bands (TB) geostatistical method.
Turning Bands
The basic assumption of the TB method is as follows: the field to be simulated is second-order stationary and
isotropic; at each point, the values of the field are normally distributed and have zero mean. In other cases, the
transformation to Gaussian with subsequent subtraction of the mean could be applied. The next assumption is
the knowledge of the covariance C(r) of the field
which is to be simulated.
Structural Data Analysis
The minimum and maximum values, a rather large data range is observed. Only for data measured at
12:00 a.m. is this difference smaller. Moreover, the high value of standard deviation and the coefficient of
variation, which is above 100% for each considered hours, confirms the process variation. However, the
coefficient and kurtosis values indicate that the distribution of the considered web performances should show
similarity to a symmetrical distribution but with only small right-side asymmetry.
4. Distributed Web System
The simulation, the moving neighborhood type was adopted where the search ellipsoid was 10 km for
the - and –directions and 18 km for the -direction in the case of Web performance at 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m.,
and for the -direction at 6:00 p.m. The search ellipsoid was 28 km. The forecast of the download time was
determined on the basis of 100 simulation realizations.
Performance prediction
The Formula-based methods use a mathematical formula expressing particular performance measure as
a function of essential independent variables that characterize a studied phenomenon. In history-based
performance prediction, the time series of observations obtained through repeated measurements over time are
analyzed, and this is the approach used in this paper. Two basic prediction approaches are considered, namely
classification and regression.
CONCLUSION
In this paper, an approach for predicting Web performance by the innovative application of the TB geostatistical
simulation method was proposed. A large-scale measurement experiment was performed in the real-life Internet
to gather the data characterizing performance of over 60 Web servers localized worldwide and perceived from
four agents installed in different Internet locations. An unquestionable possibility of using geostatistics in a new
application that is Internet network performance prediction is outlined. Such geostatistics methods have
different applications, for example, spatial estimate crime rate. The comparison of spatial regression analysis
(econometric models) with kriging methods indicates clearly the advantage of the former. On the basis of
conducted research, the authors claim that we must work on improvement of the forecast accuracy. Web
performance should be analyzed using various measurement data and prediction horizon lengths. Also, the next
step should be an attempt to use other geostatistical methods which have already been successfully used by the
authors to forecast loads in power transmission and distribution networks. Furthermore, we address our research
approach to QoS issues in smart-grid communications technologies.
