Fiction is any narrative work whose content is not factual, containing events that are imaginary and not based on history. There are two types: realistic fiction where events could actually happen, and fantasy fiction where events involve impossible elements. Non-fiction presents factual information about real people, places, and events, though the presentation may not be fully accurate. Key elements of fiction include plot, exposition, foreshadowing, climax, falling action, and resolution. Conflict is also important and can involve a character against themselves, other people, society, nature, or supernatural forces. A Venn diagram shows the relationship between fiction and non-fiction.
