- In the 1940’s, the San Diego Museum was changed to the Museum of Man as the Museum's "collections" (now referred to as "cultural resources") continued their focus in anthropology – what was then called the “Study of Man or Mankind.” In the 1970's, “San Diego” was added to the Museum of Man’s name, becoming what many people know as the “San Diego Musum of Man”.
- When we changed our name, we launched a “transition brand” system which allowed our community to “mourn” the old name, “become used to the new name” and envision themselves in our brand…
