This letter summarizes frequent water disruptions in a densely populated, industrial locality with 500 families over the past month. The water supply is cut twice a day for short periods or not supplied for two continuous days, only returning in the evenings. This is causing major inconvenience, with families unable to do daily washing, cooking, bathing or have clean drinking water. Residents have to fetch water from long distances, spending much time doing so and affecting their work. Despite complaints, the water board has not addressed the problem. Immediate action is requested to prevent disease outbreaks and water shortages.

Dear Sir,
Frequent Water Disruption
I wish to bring your attention to the frequent disconnection of water supply in our locality. It
is a thickly populated area. Being an industry locality, it is also a famous area in our city. To
date, there are a total of 500 families residing in this area. This problem has been going on for
the past month. It has caused us much inconvenience and frustration.
2. The problem became worst two weeks ago. It was made once in two days for a short
time. Sometimes, the water supply is not made for two days continuously. The water supply
came back only in the evening. We had to store water for the next day.
3. This situation is causing us a lot of trouble. Many of us have big families, small children
and working parents. Therefore, we have a lot washing and cooking to do. However, the water
shortage does not enable us to do all these daily activities. Due to this as well, many residents,
including the school children, have to go without a bath daily. Life has become miserable for
everyone. People stand in queues waiting for water, and they have to fetch water from a long
distance. They spend a lot of time in bringing water. This affects their daily work. For the
people who work in the offices, it has become quite strenuous. Drinking water too is in short
supply for the last one week, and the water from the general supply, even when boiled, is not
hygienic.
4. We have phoned and e-mailed your office to make many complaints, but so far, your
office has done nothing to solve the problem. If immediate steps are not taken, it may result in
many diseases and water famine.
5. On behalf of the residents, I hope you will take immediate action to settle this water
problem once and for all.
