Case of DIY and social media
About Dina Tokio:
Who is Dina Tokio?
Dina Tokio, is a British, UK based Egyptian, Hijabi fashion blogger.
What does she do?
She is a stylist, blogger and vlogger. She uploads videos onto YouTube, and is very well known.
Why do I consider her as a ‘prosumer’?
I consider Dina a prosumer, because she makes her own vlogs, and videos.
What media platforms do they use?
She uses a lot of social media apps, such as: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Snapchat.
How can I access her social media accounts?
I can access her through my phone, and also apps such as snapchat, Instagram and YouTube. I can also access her through my laptop, websites
such as: Facebook, twitter and YouTube, however I can’t access snapchat on the laptop.
Is there interactivity:
Sometimes, Dina is interactive on her YouTube channel. For example: she’ll upload a video on YouTube, and then she won’t be active for a few
weeks, but the most is a month. Nevertheless, she’s active on Instagram as well as snapchat.

Uses and gratification:
You can tell Dina gets a form on confidence from doing these videos, and blogs, as she has a lot of fans, who are constantly supporting her, and
her success. She gets a lot of lovely comments on her Instagram pictures, and YouTube videos. Her videos are definitely shareable, to
teenagers, as they’re entertaining. However, I wouldn’t say they’re suitable for young teenagers or young people, as it contains a bit of
inappropriate language. Dina definitely gets recognised, as she's got 540,622 subscribers on YouTube. Not only that, but on Instagram, she's
got 1.1million followers. From this, we can see that she gets a form of pleasure and satisfaction, as she's getting more followers, subscribers,
and is getting very well known. Her personality definitely shines through her videos, as she isn’t afraid to be herself. She's loud bubbly and very
quirky. Although she gets a lot of bad comments and hate, she acts happy and ignores them, regardless.
Passive and active:
Passive: When watching her videos, no ads/pop ups, come up. However, she does promote products. For example, in one of her recent videos,
she was promoting the “smash box”, lipsticks.
Active: Dina’s followers have control over whether they want to watch her videos, or not.
