5. Following the Insurrection at the Capitol, Washington DC,
most brands choose to silence their marketing campaigns
and social media activities.
However, brands like Ben & Jerry’s, Coca-Cola, Chevron and
Seventh Generation, along with prominent business leaders,
have broken their silence about what many are calling one of
the darkest days of U.S. history.

6. Ben & Jerry’s
Ben & Jerry’s has taken the boldest
stance so far by calling for the
impeachment of President Trump,
widely considered the driving force
behind the riots. Ben & Jerry’s, known
for speaking out on social justice
issues and advocating for
marginalized groups, took its stance in
an eight-part thread on Twitter shared
across social media.
Ben & Jerry’s ended the thread with:
“Resign, impeach, 25th
Amendment…not one more day.”
7. Coca-Cola
On Twitter, Coca-Cola called the riots
on the Capitol “an offense to the ideals
of American democracy.” “With the
election results now certified, we have
faith in America’s democratic
institutions to ensure a peaceful
transfer of power and allow the U.S. to
move forward together as one nation.”

Business Roundtable also issue a
statement against actions of the
extremist Whites.
It should be noted that Business
Roundtable members are the chief
executive officers of leading U.S.
companies. Collectively, they represent
every sector of the economy and bring a
unique and important perspective to
bear on policy issues that impact the
economy.
Their statement raised controversy as
they sponsor some of the US politicians.
10. Seventh Generation
Seventh Generation is an
American company that sells
eco-friendly cleaning, paper,
and personal care products.
The brand tweeted that “any
attempt to undermine the
election result is both
undemocratic and racist.”
11. Axe
Axe is a brand of male
grooming products, owned by
the British-Dutch company
Unilever.
The brand shared its stance
along with a tweet from
Washington Post reporter that
shows a can of its body spray
left by the rioters in rubble at
the Capitol.

Insurrection at the Capitol
Supporters of United States President
Donald Trump's attempts to overturn his
defeat in the November 2020 presidential
election stormed the United States Capitol
on January 6, 2021.
After breaching multiple police perimeters,
they occupied, vandalized and ransacked
parts of the building for several hours.
The insurrection led to the evacuation and
lockdown of the Capitol building and
disrupted a joint session of Congress
assembled to count the electoral votes and
formalize President-elect Joe Biden's
election victory.
19. Trump’s Twitter Account
Suspended
Following the events at the Capitol,
Twitter suspended President Trump’s
account.
The brand issued a statement saying,
“After close review of recent Tweets
from the @realDonaldTrump account
and the context around them —
specifically how they are being received
and interpreted on and off Twitter — we
have permanently suspended the
account due to the risk of further
incitement of violence”.
This proves to show that no account is
above the Twitter rules.

22. Twitter + Breaker
Twitter recently acquired a social broadcasting
app named Breaker in order to improve Twitter’s
main platform but also to help develop Twitter
Spaces, which is an audio-focused project.
The acquisition of the broadcasting app was
announced on the Breaker company blog, which
also stated that the Breaker app will close down
beginning on January 15, 2021. Leah Culver, the
CTO of Breaker indicated that she will now work
primarily on Twitter Spaces. Twitter Spaces is a
platform similar to Twitter, however, it allows
users to communicate in real-time with their
voice, instead of text.
23. Amazon Music + Wondery
Amazon announced that it will acquire the
United States-based Wondery podcast
Network.
Amazon indicated that operations will not
change for the Wondery podcast network,
and viewers will still be able to access
Wondery content on the same platforms as
before the acquisition. However, the
acquisition will allow Wondery to access
more research through Amazon, which can
improve the content creation process. For
Amazon, the acquisition indicates a focus on
expanding Amazon Music to offer more
podcast content.
25. Great Divide - Peanut Butter Yeti
The Great Divide Peanut Butter Yeti
Imperial Stout is one of the latest
offerings from the Denver-based Great
Divide Brewing Company that will
provide avid beer drinkers with an
aromatic option that is perfect for
wintertime sipping.
This combination is described as
being like a dark chocolate peanut
butter cup in a can, which is sure to be
favorite amongst avid fans of dark,
complex libations.
26. Guinness - Alcohol-free Stout
Guinness has introduced a new
variation of its ever-popular dark Irish
stout, called 'Guinness 0.0.
Gráinne Wafer, Global Brand Director at
Guinness, spoke to the new addition,
stating "The launch of Guinness 0.0
highlights our long-held commitment to
innovation, experimentation, and
bravery in brewing, harnessing the
power of our brewers and our
ingredients, to create an alcohol-free
beer that is 100% Guinness but 0%
alcohol."
