Trump orders 'substantial' cut in National Security Council staff:
Bloomberg
The step was described by some sources cited in the report as part of an effort from the White
House to make its foreign policy arm leaner. The request to do so was conveyed to officials in
the agency by current White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney and National Security
Adviser Robert O'Brien earlier this week, according to Bloomberg. The reductions at the
agency, in which currently 310 people work, will be carried out through attrition, Bloomberg
reported.

Tesla Semi Electric Trucks Roll Into Frito-Lay Plant
PepsiCo (NASDAQ: PEP) is introducing 15 Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) Semi electric trucks at its
Frito-Lay manufacturing site in Modesto, California, as part of a broader plan to replace diesel-
powered freight equipment with zero-emission and near-zero emission trucks. The rollout comes after
the company ordered 100 Tesla Semis in 2017 and is part of the brand's mission to reduce its absolute
greenhouse gas emissions by 20% by 2030, the company said in a news release. Pepsi's EV purchase
caps an eventful week in the big brand electric vehicle space.

Meghan McCain Accuses Joy Behar of Spreading ‘Fake News’About the Economy
And now back to our regularly scheduled feuding on The View.During Friday’s broadcast of the ABC
talk show, conservative co-host Meghan McCain reignited her long-standing on-air battle with Joy
Behar, accusing the liberal host of peddling “fake news” about the economy slowing down-despite the
fact that there are, indeed, many signs the economy may be heading for a decline.Spending the opening
segment discussing the blockbuster revelations that U.S. diplomats engaged in a coordinated effort with
President Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani to pressure the Ukrainian government to investigate
Joe Biden and his son, Behar claimed there’s been “radio silence” from Republicans on the
issue.McCain, however, objected to Behar’s characterization, reading off a list of GOP senators who
have offered mild condemnations of the president’s actions-specifically when it comes to the president
demanding to know the whistleblower’s identity.“I knew you were going to say that,” McCain sneered
at Behar. “That’s why I got the list.”Later on in the segment, McCain became flustered when she
wanted to discuss Trump calling on China to investigate the Bidens. Following McCain’s remarks on
the China comments, Behar pointed out that they would be discussing this next segment and to hold her
thoughts until then, prompting McCain to complain that she wasn’t aware it was coming up.“I didn’t
know we were doing it next,” she huffed. “Sorry! I’m sorry! It was in conjunction of what we were
saying.”Behar, meanwhile, noted that it was “alright” before pivoting to the economy, pointing out that
the president’s base isn’t turning on him yet and the media needs to focus on economic concerns.“The
media needs to stop doing Trump 24/7 and start talking about the fact that the economy is really
slowing down,” she stated. “Jobs are slowing down. The farmers are in trouble. Manufacturing is
taking a dive.”McCain, however, vehemently disagreed with Behar, claiming the “economy is not
falling down” before insisting that her liberal counterpart’s warning about the economy is “part of the
problem” for conservatives.“Yeah, it is, the Dow dropped 800 points in two days,” Behar shot back.
“Agriculture is taking a hit. The farmers are in trouble.”“That’s fake news,” McCain sneered, using one
of the president’s favorite attack lines. “That’s just fake news that the economy is slowing down. That’s
just fake news. It’s part of the paradigm of why his base is still standing with him.”McCain further
asserted that if the economy was struggling Trump wouldn’t tweet about the jobs numbers on Friday
morning. The jobs numbers, meanwhile, were short of expectations and the manufacturing index is at
its lowest point in more than a decade amid Trump’s trade wars. Furthermore, the service job sector hit
its slowest growth in three years. This all comes on the heels of this summer’s recession panic over the
yield-curve inversion, causing stocks to drop sharply and the Federal Reserve to cut rates twice in
recent months.Read more at The Daily Beast.Got a tip? Send it to The Daily Beast hereGet our top

Wall Street is listening to Elon Musk’s “internal” Tesla goals and ignoring history
Tesla dispatched a booming quarter, delivering 97,000 vehicles to customers, about 2% more than Wall
Street analysts had been expecting, according to FactSet. Tesla had to work hard to grow sales of its
popular Model 3 amid shrinking tax breaks in the US, an ever-expanding global logistics puzzle, and a
raging trade war. Tesla's success in the quarter, unveiled Oct. 2, put it within reachjust barelyof hitting
the low-end of CEO Elon Musk's production target for the year of 360,00 to 400,000 deliveries.

Analog Motion's AMX is a light and affordable e-bike for commuters
Most electric bicycles are expensive. Like, 'you must have two grand lying around' expensive. Cheaper
e-bikes exist but only a handful of manufacturers offer anything close to the $500 mark. One of the
exceptions is Analog Motion, a four-person startup that crowdfunded a line of e-bikes called the AM1
last year. The range started at £499 (roughly $665) and, unsurprisingly, smashed its £25,000 goal in a
single day. And, somehow, the team actually delivered on its promise and shipped hundreds of well-
received bikes . Now, it's back with a second generation that promises a similar balance of performance
and affordability.

Trump Falls Into His Own Conspiracy Quagmire
(Bloomberg Opinion) -- In the late 1980s, Donald Trump got into a feud with another prominent New
York developer, Leonard Stern, over a story that a Stern-owned magazine, 7 Days, ran about the weak
resale value of some Trump condominiums. Stern was also funding an unflattering documentary about
Trump, and amid the squabble Trump confided to his advisers at the Trump Organization that Stern was
part of a broader cabal of jealous Manhattan builders out to get him.Shortly after that, as he started to
tip into corporate and personal bankruptcy in the early 1990s, Trump lashed out at reporters, telling his
advisers that unflattering stories about financial difficulties he brought upon himself were the work of a
vindictive cabal of media types also out to get him. There was some paranoia laced through all of this,
of course, and some of the emotional and psychological tensions that make an avid conspiracy theorist.
But none of it amounted to the purposeful and broadly orchestrated plot mongering that Trump
unfurled when he embraced birtherism in 2011 and aggressively promoted the idea that Barack Obama
wasn’t born in the U.S. (and therefore wasn’t qualified to be president). One of the telling aspects of
Trump’s turn to sprawling conspiracy theorizing eight years ago, and his subsequent immersion in it, is
that it’s one of the few signature pieces of his current repertoire that isn’t a throwback. Most of Trump’s
behaviors are decades old. Peddling conspiracies is a relatively recent phenomenon. And his
deployment of half-baked, bonkers schemes attached to former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, as
well as some of his ludicrous theories about Ukraine as a haven for interference in the 2016 presidential
election, have boomeranged on him in ways I’m sure he never anticipated. When Trump was able to get
airtime on national television shows by questioning the whereabouts of Obama’s birth certificate - and
then saw his standing in early 2012 among Republican presidential contenders soar from fifth place to a
tie for first, in part, for the same reason - lights must have gone on in his head. Trump the businessman
was intimate with the powers of spin, hyperbole and celebrity, but Trump the politician - a much more
recent invention - had to find his way.Trump was never going to be someone who distinguished himself
politically through policy expertise or visionary leadership. But as someone who could appeal to the
fear of outsiders (like Chinese exporters and Mexican immigrants, for example) or stoke racism
(toward Obama, for one) and clothe that sentiment as “politics,” bingo. Conspiracies, scantily sourced
as “people are saying” and often so fact-free that they left Trump as the sole arbiter of their merit,
offered a convenient way to erode voters’ faith in opponents or institutions and became one of his go-to
political tools.“American politics has often been an arena for angry minds,” the historian Richard
Hofstadter observed in “The Paranoid Style in American Politics,” his famous 1964 essay. “I call it the
paranoid style simply because no other word adequately evokes the sense of heated exaggeration,
suspiciousness, and conspiratorial fantasy that I have in mind.”Fr. Charles Coughlin, the anti-Semitic
“radio priest” of the 1930s, and Senator Joseph McCarthy, who used a new medium, television, to stoke
the anti-Communist red scare of the 1950s, were exemplars of Hofstadter’s thinking. Trump, who’s
used social media and Fox News’s talk shows to propagate conspiracies, stands squarely on their
shoulders.“Donald Trump’s supporters lap up every conspiracy theory he pushes out there,” one
pollster noted in 2016, the year in which lessons Trump learned from selling birtherism helped pave his
way to the White House. Trump launched his presidential campaign by accusing the Mexican
government of plotting to export rapists and other criminals to the U.S. As the campaign wore on, he
took to stating that Muslim Americans broadly and secretly supported terrorism.Trump regularly quotes
or tweets conspiracy theorists and has spouted tin-hat stuff on everything from the Deep State, Obama’s
efforts to wiretap Trump Tower, Muslims trying to establish sharia law in the U.S., and global warming
as a Chinese hoax, to windmills causing cancer, white genocide in South Africa, voter fraud in the 2016
election, questions about the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, the health risks of
asbestos as a “con” pushed by organized crime, and the big one, Robert Mueller’s “Witch Hunt.”Trump
got attention, and traction with his electoral base, with much of this. None of it really hurt him. But
his recent efforts to choreograph, and not merely disseminate, a grandiose conspiracy theory - that the
Bidens profited from corruption in Ukraine and that that country itself was the real villain of the 2016
election - have snapped back on him. His phone calls to Ukraine’s leader to further the scheme have
landed him in an impeachment inquiry. The machinations of loose-cannon compadres like Rudy
Giuliani have come to haunt him. There’s still much that has to play out in all of this, but at a minimum
the president is getting a very rapid political education. He’s learning the difference between promoting
myths that are merely incendiary or hateful and more broad-based conspiracy theories that test the
limits of the law. To contact the author of this story: Timothy L. O'Brien at

Chuck Todd: ‘Let’s Be Frank, a National Nightmare Is Upon Us’
MSNBC anchor Chuck Todd began his Thursday afternoon broadcast of MTP Daily by solemnly
telling his audience that following President Donald Trump’s public call for the Chinese to investigate
his potential 2020 rival, a “national nightmare is upon us.”Speaking to reporters on the South Lawn on
Thursday morning, the president urged China to probe former Vice President Joe Biden and his son
Hunter, claiming that “what happened in China is just about as bad as what happened with Ukraine.”
Trump, who is currently facing an impeachment inquiry for pressuring the Ukrainian president to dig
up dirt on the Bidens, also called on Ukraine Thursday to “start a major investigation” into the Biden
family.“I do not say this lightly,” an ashen-faced Todd said. “Let’s be frank, a national nightmare is
upon us. The basic rules of our democracy are under attack, from the president.” Noting that the
president openly admitted to seeking foreign influence in the 2020 election, the Meet the Press host
pointed out that thus far “Republicans have been silent on what we have seen from the
president.”Highlighting the president’s remarks, Todd then expressed his belief that we are entering an
extremely dark moment in our nation's history.“Donald Trump is using the power of his office to solicit
interference in the 2020 presidential election-while doing it relying on a debunked conspiracy or two,”
he said. “This is not hearsay or a whistleblower’s complaint or a memorandum of a phone
conversation. You heard the president do it himself on the White House lawn.”“This moment should
arguably be a national emergency-the founding fathers would have considered it a national emergency
if the president publicly lobbied multiple foreign governments to interfere in the next election,” Todd
added. Once again noting that the GOP has failed to condemn Trump, Todd concluded that this was
“remarkable considering the precedent it would set and the lasting damage it would do to our
democracy.”“It is tough to say lightly,” he sighed. “But this is the moment we are at."Read more at The

'We’re looking at near raw bribery': Trump hotel taking bookings from foreign
officials who never stay in rooms, investigation told
Groups attempting to court Donald Trump have booked rooms at his hotels without staying in them,
effectively paying for good favour, it has been claimed. In a previously unreported aspect of the House
Oversight Committee's far-reaching investigation, members are looking into the issue after receiving
information that a trader association and a foreign government had booked a large number of rooms,
but only used a few other them.

This 57-year-old said ‘screw this’ to San Francisco - and retired to ‘delightful’

When Roberta Reinstein moved to the Bay Area roughly 30 years ago to go to law school, it felt to her
like a different place than it does now. Nowadays, “San Francisco is only for the wealthy - the super
wealthy - unless you're willing to live with five roommates,” she jokes. As she was watching San
Francisco become a hub for the rich, she had a financial setback of her own: a divorce, in which she
and her spouse had to split up their assets.

SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket and Crew Dragon arrive at Cape Canaveral ahead of key
test for crew flight
SpaceX's facility at Cape Canaveral just received a crucial new delivery: a Falcon 9 rocket and Crew
Dragon capsule that it will be using for an upcoming in-flight abort test. This test, which will
demonstrate the spacecraft and launch system's ability to abort the launch mid-flight in case of any
emergencies, is an important and necessary step before SpaceX can fly Crew Dragon with any actual
people on board. This test will replicate a "worst-case scenario" of sorts, by staging a crew capsule
separation at the point of "Max Q," which is the part of the launch where the rocket is exposed to the
most severe atmospheric forces prior to making it to space.

Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver Break Each Other’s Hearts in the Exquisite
‘Marriage Story’
Wilson WebbAt its worst-and I can speak from experience-divorce is simultaneously like death and
war: an end to the life you had and the future you imagined, and a battle of unimaginable acrimony and
anguish. Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story-the centerpiece selection of this year’s New York Film
Festival, set to premiere in theaters on Nov. 6 and on Netflix on Dec. 6-understands this on a profound
level, charting the disintegration of a couple with an incisiveness, and mordant sense of humor, that’s
wrenching in its authenticity. Led by two of the year’s finest performances courtesy of Adam Driver
and Scarlett Johansson as an artistic pair brought to figurative blows, it’s a superlative drama about the
trauma of separation, and the scars it leaves. If you’ve never been through a divorce, it’ll scare the hell
out of you. And if you have, it’ll break your heart.A companion piece of sorts to 2005’s The Squid and
the Whale (which was partly based on the disintegration of his parents’ marriage, and told from an
adolescent perspective), and undoubtedly influenced by his own split from first wife Jennifer Jason
Leigh, Marriage Story is Baumbach’s most assured work to date. That’s evident from the outset, in
which we’re presented with respective montages of Nicole (Johansson) and Charlie (Driver)-she
detailing his best qualities via narration, and vice versa-going about their day-to-day duties as spouses,
artists (he’s a director of plays, and she’s his star actress) and parents to 8-year-old son Henry (Azhy
Robertson). Upon concluding, it’s revealed that their comments have been penned for use in a
mediation session as a way to start their separation proceedings on a positive, remembering-the-good
note. It’s a conventionally nice thought that inevitably fails, as Nicole proves uninterested in reading
aloud the nicey-nice things she thinks about her soon-to-be ex. Although they’re still living together in
their Brooklyn apartment, a post-show cast party finds the two situated at different tables, and leaving
abruptly to ride the subway home in silence, with Baumbach positioning them at opposite ends of the
car, divided in the frame by a center-aisle pole, with Charlie standing and Nicole sitting. It’s far from
the last image of disconnection and alienation-later shots of Charlie stranded amidst a crowd of Times
Square pedestrians as he receives a horrific phone call, and wandering amongst a sea of California
rental cars, similarly suggest the duo’s forlorn isolation. At the same time, Baumbach keeps his camera
close to his leads’ faces, capturing their suffering and sorrow in exacting detail. Having nabbed an
audition for a TV pilot, Nicole travels with Henry to her native Los Angeles, where she stays with her
intrusive mom (Julie Hagerty) and flustered sister (Merritt Wever). Though initially interested in
handling the divorce amicably, she visits attorney Nora Fanshaw (Laura Dern), whose oh-so-
understanding attitude-augmented by her wonderful tea and cookies-is tactical through and through. It’s
also successful, inducing Nicole to open up about the displacement and loss-of-identity and agency
issues that, more than Charlie’s infidelity, drove her to embark on her present course. In a prolonged
take that’s as aesthetically subtle as it is emotionally revealing, a magnificent Johansson guides us
through Nicole’s winding interior journey of recollection, analysis and self-assertion-a development
that’s as eye-opening to us as it seems to be for her.Divorce papers are subsequently filed, and served to
a blindsided Charlie during his visit to L.A. In turn, he sees cutthroat shark Jay (Ray Liotta), who
terrifies him with talk of a forthcoming cataclysmic conflict. He opts instead to go with welcoming
lawyer Bert Spitz (Alan Alda), whose I’m-your-friend shtick and promises of avoiding court soon ring
hollow. Escalation follows escalation. Nicole attempts to establish herself and Henry as California
residents. Charlie fights that effort, arguing that they were always a New York clan. Catch-22s
materialize, with Charlie realizing that getting a place in L.A. helps Nicole’s contention that they’re a
West Coast-based family, while staying in New York aids her chances of securing sole custody. Panic
gives way to frustration gives way to tears gives way to ire, all of it coming to a head during a quarrel
between Charlie and Nicole that deteriorates into wall-punching, finger-pointing confessions of their
deepest, darkest, ugliest resentments. That Marriage Story manages to be funny at routine intervals is a
near miracle, given that its every moment feels ripped from raw, miserable reality, whether it’s Charlie
and Henry spending an afternoon being observed by a weirdo “evaluator,” or Jay and Nora nastily
bickering in a courtroom populated by waiting-their-turn couples and in front of an indifferent judge. In
these spaces, judgment is everywhere, thus compelling everyone to engage in keeping-up-appearances
performances. It’s enough to trigger any divorcée’s PTSD, and that goes double for Jay’s introductory
doom-and-gloom-and-strategy meeting, which is so true to life that, in a few minutes’ time, Liotta
almost steals the entire film (by which I mean, incites seismic heart palpitations).Baumbach’s
screenplay is scalpel-sharp. His dialogue is rife with exchanges that seem trivial on the surface but are
loaded with spiteful meaning, and his staging is awash in sideways glances and minor gestures that are
coiled with fury. Nonetheless, it’s his performers-always front and center in one painfully intimate
composition after another-who carry Marriage Story’s contentious load. His face fluctuating between
downtrodden desperation and lashing-out rage, Driver evokes Charlie’s agony with nuance and
intensity, peaking with his showstopping rendition of “Being Alive” from Stephen Sondheim’s
Company. Likewise gifted with a Company number (“You Could Drive a Person Crazy”) that speaks to
her condition and trajectory, Johansson is more than Driver’s equal, conveying Nicole’s increasingly
hardened resolve without sacrificing the grief and confusion underscoring her state of mind-
culminating with a climactic reaction shot in a bathroom doorway, full of anger, bitterness, appreciation
and hope, that’s as good as any big-screen acting this year. Together, they deftly express how divorce
amplifies the worst of us and blights out the best, leading only to vitriol, sadness and ruin.To a degree
even greater than its spiritual forefathers Kramer vs. Kramer and Shoot the Moon, Marriage Story
considers the positions of its dueling protagonists with an even-handed empathy that also, ultimately,
extends to Henry, an unsteady boy caught (at one point, literally) in the middle of a tug-of-war that can
have no clear-cut winner. And in its penultimate scene, it achieves a measure of poignant, tragic grace,
via both its portrait of divorce as the last act of a long-running story which began with ecstatic promise-
as well as its recognition that, even after the papers are signed and the ordeal is over, the memories of
those happier times linger on.Read more at The Daily Beast.Get our top stories in your inbox every

Russia summons Iranian ambassador over journalist's arrest in Tehran
Russia's foreign ministry summoned the Iranian ambassador on Friday over the detention of a Russian
journalist in Tehran, ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said. Moscow has close economic and
political ties with Tehran, and it is unusual for the latter to target Russian citizens. "Due to the detention
in Tehran of Russian citizen Yulia Yuzik, Iran's ambassador has been invited to the foreign ministry to
facilitate a quick clarification of the circumstances of the incident and the protection of the rights of the
Russian citizen," Zakharova wrote on her Facebook page.

Bid On A Clean 1984 Land Rover Defender 110 Diesel
This rig isn’t going to stick around for long. Timing is everything, especially when it comes to car
auctions. If you don’t take advantage of the time, you’re going to miss out on your chance to bid on a
clean 1984 Land Rover Defender 110 Diesel legally imported from Europe to the United States. With
the all-new, second-generation Defender about to hit the market, interest in the original off-roader
should see a big uptick. The chance to grab this one is coming from AllCollectorCars.com.Just as a
good collector vehicle should be, this Land Rover looks amazing from any angle, including laying on
your back underneath it. A partial restoration, which included completely redoing the interior, leaves
this rig ready to impress even highly critical eyes. Even more importantly, various components like the
rear trailing arm bushings, front/rear drive shafts, and axle flange have been replaced. Thanks to a
repaint and virtually unblemished body panels, you could take this SUV to an upscale venue and not
feel out of place. Black exterior trim pieces like the grille, headlight bezels, wheels, and roof rack make
for an aggressive edge. A polished front skid plate and side steps, plus clear taillights add some
interesting contrast.Taking to the trail would be completely doable with this Defender. It rides on new
General Gabber All-Terrain tires, which bite into a whole range of surfaces for excellent grip. Auxiliary
LED lights mounted ot the front of the roof rack help with illuminating dark trails or a campsite. Then
there’s the 2.5-liter turbo-diesel engine, providing the kind of low-end torque you need to get over
obstacles and out of tough spots. A 5-speed manual transmission helps you maintain optimal control at
all times, which is another huge plus.As for the interior, the first thing which jumps out is the two-tone
black and orange leather seats. Numerous other upgrades are present, including a custom sound system
with a Pioneer touchscreen. Two bench seats in the rear allow you to take along a big group for
adventure or a night on the town.If you’re interested in this Land Rover Defender, you don’t have much
time to register to bid on it. Several other upcoming auctions are slated for the site, which include
another Land Rover Defender and other cars you might find just as interesting. Read More * Roll In

Nothing Is Better Than A Well-Loved 1971 Ford F100 Pickup
This classic pickup is just nice enough that you’d never drive anything else. They say the definition of
insanity is performing the same actions repeatedly, and hoping for a different outcome. This is why we
have bought more Ford pickups than any other vehicle. For some reason, no matter how much we love
our Ford, it inevitably gets sold to finance some other dumb project. Then, after months of missing the
character and practicality of the truck, we cave and buy another one. And so now, we sit here staring at
the sale page for a 1971 Ford F100 and the want is setting in again. We need to own another classic
Ford, and this one looks perfect for the job.Under the hood sits the 390 cubic-inch V8, the biggest
motor offered in the fifth-gen trucks, and it’s mated to the 3-speed automatic. The motor is not original,
but the rebuilt transmission is. It’s the perfect combination of usable power and easy driving to make it
a daily driver. The truck is also surprisingly rust-free for its year.Best of all, the truck is visually perfect
for a daily as well. The interior looks pristine, and the paint is a solid 15 foot job. But thanks to a
healthy set of dents in the bed, and just enough scrapes and bumps across the body, you’ll never feel
bad for bombing around in the rain, or getting a load of wood from the local lumber yard. We know
from experience that an F100 of this generation will easily take 30 bales of hay across the bed if
wanted to do that. The worst part for us in this situation is the price. Classic Auto Mall in Morgantown,
PA is only asking for $10,500 to own this pickup. This is a dire situation. The square grille, coupled
with those round lights and dark red paint, is just screaming our name. We really need someone to call
that dealership and take this truck home before we have to explain to our spouse why there is another
Ford truck sitting in the drive way.Of course, we could just stop selling off all of our other Ford trucks,
but then how would we ever have an excuse to buy another one? Related Articles: * Pick Up This

Original 1945 Willys MB Up For Grabs
Restore it or just drive it!There are plenty of classic cars that have a unique place in American history
like hot rods, lead sleds and muscle cars, but only the Willys MB is a true American automotive
treasure. While you can find these former military vehicles in conditions ranging from fully restored to
dilapidated relics, this all-original, driver-quality 1945 Willys MB will be up for auction online through
All Collector Cars Auctions.According to the auction listing, this Willys MB was purchased by its
current owner from an Army Captain, who had been the third-generation owner of this Jeep. In addition
to its Army green paint and tan top, this MB still has the functional Army vehicle look with the shovel
and axe mounted on the side and the fuel can and spare tire mounted on the back. While many MBs
have had gun mounts and other fake war memorabilia tacked on, the only parts not original to this one
are the soft top and canvas seat covers. Everything else is in all-original condition, and the winning
bidder will even get some spare parts! This 1945 Willys MB is definitely showing its age, but it has
been maintained and stored in a climate-controlled barn. In its current condition, this Willys MB would
be perfect for parade duty, but a good restoration would transform this ex-military vehicle into a full-
fledged show winner. The good news is that everything works, and the Willys runs strong thanks to its
original driveline consisting of the 60-horsepower 2.2-liter inline-four cylinder, three-speed manual
transmission and the two-speed Dana 18 transfer case. All Collector Cars Auctions estimates that this
1945 Willys MB is worth between $16,700 and $27,400, and if you want a shot at owning this
incredible piece of automotive Americana, be sure you're registered to bid by clicking HERE. The
online-only auction for this Willys MB will be open from October 7 - 14. Related Articles... * 1987 AM

For Under $48K, Can This 1973 Pontiac Trans Am Steal Your Heart?
One of the most coveted of the muscle car era.Back in the '70s, the Pontiac Trans Am was one of the
most coveted muscle cars. The car was given muscular styling, and it was powered by a commanding
powerplant straight off the assembly line that made it a force to be reckoned with. However, this
particular Trans Am doesn't have its original factory engine but was given some upgrades that make it a
bit more potent than your average factory TA. Restore a Muscle Car is pleased to offer the opportunity
to own this stunning 1973 Pontiac Trans Am. Finished in Cameo White and adorned with the
unmistakable screaming chicken mural on its hood in a contrasting blue, the exterior of this classic
appears to be in perfect shape. Open the doors to an immaculate black deluxe interior complete with
bucket seats and what appears to be a brushed aluminum dashboard. Factory air conditioning keeps the
cabin nice and comfortable, and power windows go down conveniently and promptly with the touch of
a button. This vintage Trans Am has quite a bit more bite than a factory example. Tucked inside the
engine bay is a powerplant from 1969, a built 428cui V8 HO engine complete with 7Fl Round Port
Heads. In addition, this car comes equipped with exhaust manifolds and a round port Ram Air exhaust
setup. Also, it is one of 3,130 of these cars equipped with an automatic transmission. Power steering
allows for super easy maneuvering, and power brakes provide easy stopping on all four corners. This
1973 Trans Am is ready for sunny weekend cruises and to provide therapy under the right foot. A
muscle car capable of delivering smiles for miles, don't wait to contact Restore a Muscle Car today.
This vintage TA is listed at $47,500, but feel free to make an offer here. Read More... * See It All In A

Beto O’Rourke: Buttigieg Opposes Gun Confiscation Because He’s ‘Afraid to Do
the Right Thing’
Democratic presidential candidates Beto O’Rourke and Pete Buttigieg sparred over the merits of
mandatory gun confiscation during a gun control advocacy event in Las Vegas on Wednesday.During a
one-on-one with Today Show anchor Craig Melvin, Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Ind., was
asked a question about mandatory assault weapon "buybacks," to which he responded that “as a policy,
it’s had mixed results. It’s a healthy debate to have, but we’ve got to do something now.” Buttigieg
went on to say the issue could potentially distract Democrats from areas where they could make real
advances in gun control.Buttigieg has called for a ban on the sale of certain semi-automatic rifles, but
has joined the rest of the Democratic primary field in resisting O'Rourke's call for a "mandatory
buyback," which would require gun owners to sell their semi-automatic rifles to the government and
hold those who refuse criminally liable.Later in the event, Beto O’Rourke, who has made past
headlines with his outspoken support of mandatory gun confiscation, challenged Buttigieg as a
candidate “worried about the polls” and who “probably wants to get to the right place, but is afraid of
doing the right thing right now.”After the event in a news conference with reporters, O’Rourke went
further.“What Pete has been saying is that a mandatory buyback is the ‘shiny object’ that is distracting
us. How in the world can you say that to March for Our Lives? How can you say that to survivors of
mass shootings across this country?” O’Rourke stated. “How can you say that to the majority of
Hispanics in America, certainly in Texas, who fear that they will be the victims of a mass shooting
inspired by racism and hatred that has been welcomed into the open by this president, and has been
armed with weapons of war.“I was really offended by [Buttigieg’s] comments. I think he represents a
kind of politics that is focused on poll testing and focus group driving, and triangulating, and listening
to consultants before you arrive at a position," he continued. "I think our politics has to be about doing
the right thing, saying the right thing.”According to the latest RealClear Politics national polling
average, Buttigieg leads O’Rourke by just over three percentage points.

Relive The Glory Days Of Motoring In This 1949 Packard Custom Eight
Add this award-winning Packard to your collection today! In 1949, Packard had some of the most
luxurious cars on the market, and less than a decade later, the company had faded from existence. This
beautiful 1949 Packard Custom Eight Touring Sedan is an example of the caliber of cars this brand
delivered during this time, and if you've ever wanted to add a Packard to your collection, this '49
Custom Eight being sold through Connors Motorcar Company is a great choice. This car spent its entire
life in the dry air out west, so you're not going to find any rust anywhere on this car. All of the paint and
chrome are in great shape including the intricate hood ornament, while the recently replaced white wall
tires finish off this Packard's vintage style. Looking at its condition, it's not surprising that this 1949
Packard Custom Eight was an AACA National Senior show winner back in 1985. And this car looks
just as good today thanks to the seller claiming this car has just 72,000 original miles. As amazing as
this car's condition is on the outside, the original interior is even more impressive. The broadcloth seats
look plush and comfortable, but it's the fine details that give this car a luxurious feel with the rich wood
accents and flawless chrome trim. The rear passengers definitely ride in style thanks to a footrest and
fold-down center armrest. This car appears to be just about as original as it did when it rolled off the
assembly line with the only apparent modifications seem to be the addition of seat belts.Under its
looooong hood, this 1949 Packard Custom Eight is powered by an equally long engine: a 327 CID
inline-eight! The 160-horsepowr engine is paired with a three-speed transmission with overdrive, and
the listing says that this car has been "meticulously maintained" over the years - a claim that can easily
be backed up just looking at these pictures. This 1949 Packard Custom Eight Touring Sedan is currently
being offered by Connors Motorcar Company for $29,500, but you can click HERE to make an offer on
this stunning example of American post-war luxury. More Packards... * Ultra-Rare 1938 Packard

World's tourist hotspots await annual Chinese invasion
It's the start of one of the biggest annual human migrations... China's Golden Week Holiday Around 7.5
million Chinese people are expected to travel abroad during the National Day holidays, which started
on October 1st. The wave of travelers brings wealth to tourist sites like Bangkok's grand palace.
Around 250,000 Chinese travelers are expected to visit Thailand during Golden Week - 38% more than
last year. A boat disaster in July 2018 off the resort of Phuket killed 47 Chinese tourists... and led to a
decline in bookings. Now Thailand is luring back Chinese holidaymakers by waiving visa fees.
(SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) ZHU YUNHUA, TOURIST FROM CENTRAL HUNAN PROVINCE,
CHINA SAYING: "It allows us a visa upon arrival, so it is very convenient. Secondly, the tourism
industry in Thailand is quite mature and developed, and it has got very good reputation." For many
though, it's all about spending. Golden Week has, in recent years, become internationally famous for
being a major shopping spree for the Chinese traveller. (SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) LIU LEI,
TOURIST FROM BEIJING, CHINA SAYING: "My wife would go for luxury brands, while I usually
buy local specialities." Beneficiaries of the Chinese spending power include the U.S., Italy, and Britain,
as well as major retail destination Japan. But with the Chinese economy beginning to slow, analysts say
the consumer is becoming more cautious, with many opting to stay at home. Also losing out this year,
is Hong Kong. The escalating anti-government protests have gripped the Chinese-ruled city for nearly
four months, scaring off tourists, and battering spending. August tourist arrivals in Hong Kong fell over
39% on the year, the biggest decline since May 2003 when an outbreak of the SARS virus hit.

'We Got to Start Eating Babies': Ocasio-Cortez Town Hall Hears
Bizarre Climate Change Proposal
A town hall event hosted by Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took a turn for the bizarre on
October 3 when a woman speaking from the floor urged the eating of babies as a necessary step
in the fight against climate change.“We only have a few months left,” the woman said,
continuing: “I love that you support the green deal, but it’s not getting rid of fossil fuel, it’s not
going to solve the problem fast enough. A Swedish professor [said] we can eat dead people but
that’s not fast enough. So I think your next campaign slogan has to be this: ‘We got to start
eating babies!’ We don’t have enough time! There is too much CO2.”Ocasio-Cortez responded
saying, “luckily we have more than a few months.” She said “net zero” CO2 needed to be hit in
several years. “We are never beyond hope,” she said.LaRouche PAC, a group that supports
Donald Trump, took credit for the stunt on Twitter. It accused conservationists and climate
campaigners of “Malthusianism”. The group also referenced Jonathan Swift, the Irish writer,
whose satirical 1729 pamphlet A Modest Proposal recommended the poor of Ireland should eat
their children. Credit: C-SPAN via Storyful

Florida man shot and killed son-in-law who was trying to surprise him, sheriff says Florida man shot to death by father-in-law after flying 4,500 miles to surprise him AOL.com Man shoots son-in-law dead after he jumped out of bushes in 'birthday surprise' The Independent • 2862Reactions • • Politics The Daily Beast Meghan McCain Accuses Joy Behar of Spreading ‘Fake News’About the Economy And now back to our regularly scheduled feuding on The View.During Friday’s broadcast of the ABC talk show, conservative co-host Meghan McCain reignited her long-standing on-air battle with Joy Behar, accusing the liberal host of peddling “fake news” about the economy slowing down-despite the fact that there are, indeed, many signs the economy may be heading for a decline.Spending the opening segment discussing the blockbuster revelations that U.S. diplomats engaged in a coordinated effort with President Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani to pressure the Ukrainian government to investigate Joe Biden and his son, Behar claimed there’s been “radio silence” from Republicans on the issue.McCain, however, objected to Behar’s characterization, reading off a list of GOP senators who have offered mild condemnations of the president’s actions-specifically when it comes to the president demanding to know the whistleblower’s identity.“I knew you were going to say that,” McCain sneered at Behar. “That’s why I got the list.”Later on in the segment, McCain became flustered when she wanted to discuss Trump calling on China to investigate the Bidens. Following McCain’s remarks on the China comments, Behar pointed out that they would be discussing this next segment and to hold her thoughts until then, prompting McCain to complain that she wasn’t aware it was coming up.“I didn’t know we were doing it next,” she huffed. “Sorry! I’m sorry! It was in conjunction of what we were saying.”Behar, meanwhile, noted that it was “alright” before pivoting to the economy, pointing out that the president’s base isn’t turning on him yet and the media needs to focus on economic concerns.“The media needs to stop doing Trump 24/7 and start talking about the fact that the economy is really slowing down,” she stated. “Jobs are slowing down. The farmers are in trouble. Manufacturing is taking a dive.”McCain, however, vehemently disagreed with Behar, claiming the “economy is not falling down” before insisting that her liberal counterpart’s warning about the economy is “part of the problem” for conservatives.“Yeah, it is, the Dow dropped 800 points in two days,” Behar shot back. “Agriculture is taking a hit. The farmers are in trouble.”“That’s fake news,” McCain sneered, using one of the president’s favorite attack lines. “That’s just fake news that the economy is slowing down. That’s just fake news. It’s part of the paradigm of why his base is still standing with him.”McCain further asserted that if the economy was struggling Trump wouldn’t tweet about the jobs numbers on Friday morning. The jobs numbers, meanwhile, were short of expectations and the manufacturing index is at its lowest point in more than a decade amid Trump’s trade wars. Furthermore, the service job sector hit its slowest growth in three years. This all comes on the heels of this summer’s recession panic over the yield-curve inversion, causing stocks to drop sharply and the Federal Reserve to cut rates twice in

Business Quartz Wall Street is listening to Elon Musk’s “internal” Tesla goals and ignoring history Tesla dispatched a booming quarter, delivering 97,000 vehicles to customers, about 2% more than Wall Street analysts had been expecting, according to FactSet. Tesla had to work hard to grow sales of its popular Model 3 amid shrinking tax breaks in the US, an ever-expanding global logistics puzzle, and a raging trade war. Tesla's success in the quarter, unveiled Oct. 2, put it within reachjust barelyof hitting the low-end of CEO Elon Musk's production target for the year of 360,00 to 400,000 deliveries. • 17Reactions • • Business Simply Wall St. When Will Ceres Power Holdings plc (LON:CWR) Turn A Profit? Like, 'you must have two grand lying around' expensive. Cheaper e-bikes exist but only a handful of manufacturers offer anything close to the $500 mark. One of the exceptions is Analog Motion, a four-person startup that crowdfunded a line of e-bikes called the AM1 last year. The range started at £499 (roughly $665) and, unsurprisingly, smashed its £25,000 goal in a single day. And, somehow, the team actually delivered on its promise and shipped hundreds of well- received bikes . Now, it's back with a second generation that promises a similar balance of performance and affordability. • 2Reactions •

Stern was also funding an unflattering documentary about Trump, and amid the squabble Trump confided to his advisers at the Trump Organization that Stern was part of a broader cabal of jealous Manhattan builders out to get him.Shortly after that, as he started to tip into corporate and personal bankruptcy in the early 1990s, Trump lashed out at reporters, telling his advisers that unflattering stories about financial difficulties he brought upon himself were the work of a vindictive cabal of media types also out to get him. There was some paranoia laced through all of this, of course, and some of the emotional and psychological tensions that make an avid conspiracy theorist.
  • 24. But none of it amounted to the purposeful and broadly orchestrated plot mongering that Trump unfurled when he embraced birtherism in 2011 and aggressively promoted the idea that Barack Obama wasn’t born in the U.S. (and therefore wasn’t qualified to be president). One of the telling aspects of Trump’s turn to sprawling conspiracy theorizing eight years ago, and his subsequent immersion in it, is that it’s one of the few signature pieces of his current repertoire that isn’t a throwback. Most of Trump’s behaviors are decades old. Peddling conspiracies is a relatively recent phenomenon. And his deployment of half-baked, bonkers schemes attached to former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, as well as some of his ludicrous theories about Ukraine as a haven for interference in the 2016 presidential election, have boomeranged on him in ways I’m sure he never anticipated. When Trump was able to get airtime on national television shows by questioning the whereabouts of Obama’s birth certificate - and then saw his standing in early 2012 among Republican presidential contenders soar from fifth place to a tie for first, in part, for the same reason - lights must have gone on in his head. Trump the businessman was intimate with the powers of spin, hyperbole and celebrity, but Trump the politician - a much more recent invention - had to find his way.Trump was never going to be someone who distinguished himself politically through policy expertise or visionary leadership. But as someone who could appeal to the fear of outsiders (like Chinese exporters and Mexican immigrants, for example) or stoke racism (toward Obama, for one) and clothe that sentiment as “politics,” bingo. Conspiracies, scantily sourced as “people are saying” and often so fact-free that they left Trump as the sole arbiter of their merit, offered a convenient way to erode voters’ faith in opponents or institutions and became one of his go-to political tools.“American politics has often been an arena for angry minds,” the historian Richard Hofstadter observed in “The Paranoid Style in American Politics,” his famous 1964 essay. “I call it the paranoid style simply because no other word adequately evokes the sense of heated exaggeration, suspiciousness, and conspiratorial fantasy that I have in mind.”Fr. Charles Coughlin, the anti-Semitic “radio priest” of the 1930s, and Senator Joseph McCarthy, who used a new medium, television, to stoke the anti-Communist red scare of the 1950s, were exemplars of Hofstadter’s thinking. Trump, who’s used social media and Fox News’s talk shows to propagate conspiracies, stands squarely on their shoulders.“Donald Trump’s supporters lap up every conspiracy theory he pushes out there,” one pollster noted in 2016, the year in which lessons Trump learned from selling birtherism helped pave his way to the White House. Trump launched his presidential campaign by accusing the Mexican government of plotting to export rapists and other criminals to the U.S. As the campaign wore on, he took to stating that Muslim Americans broadly and secretly supported terrorism.Trump regularly quotes or tweets conspiracy theorists and has spouted tin-hat stuff on everything from the Deep State, Obama’s efforts to wiretap Trump Tower, Muslims trying to establish sharia law in the U.S., and global warming as a Chinese hoax, to windmills causing cancer, white genocide in South Africa, voter fraud in the 2016 election, questions about the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, the health risks of asbestos as a “con” pushed by organized crime, and the big one, Robert Mueller’s “Witch Hunt.”Trump got attention, and traction with his electoral base, with much of this. None of it really hurt him. But his recent efforts to choreograph, and not merely disseminate, a grandiose conspiracy theory - that the Bidens profited from corruption in Ukraine and that that country itself was the real villain of the 2016 election - have snapped back on him. His phone calls to Ukraine’s leader to further the scheme have landed him in an impeachment inquiry. The machinations of loose-cannon compadres like Rudy Giuliani have come to haunt him. There’s still much that has to play out in all of this, but at a minimum the president is getting a very rapid political education. He’s learning the difference between promoting myths that are merely incendiary or hateful and more broad-based conspiracy theories that test the limits of the law. The basic rules of our democracy are under attack, from the president.” Noting that the president openly admitted to seeking foreign influence in the 2020 election, the Meet the Press host pointed out that thus far “Republicans have been silent on what we have seen from the president.”Highlighting the president’s remarks, Todd then expressed his belief that we are entering an extremely dark moment in our nation's history.“Donald Trump is using the power of his office to solicit interference in the 2020 presidential election-while doing it relying on a debunked conspiracy or two,” he said. “This is not hearsay or a whistleblower’s complaint or a memorandum of a phone conversation. You heard the president do it himself on the White House lawn.”“This moment should arguably be a national emergency-the founding fathers would have considered it a national emergency if the president publicly lobbied multiple foreign governments to interfere in the next election,” Todd added. Once again noting that the GOP has failed to condemn Trump, Todd concluded that this was “remarkable considering the precedent it would set and the lasting damage it would do to our democracy.”“It is tough to say lightly,” he sighed. “But this is the moment we are at."Read more at The Daily Beast.Get our top stories in your inbox every day. Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story-the centerpiece selection of this year’s New York Film Festival, set to premiere in theaters on Nov. 6 and on Netflix on Dec. 6-understands this on a profound level, charting the disintegration of a couple with an incisiveness, and mordant sense of humor, that’s wrenching in its authenticity. Led by two of the year’s finest performances courtesy of Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson as an artistic pair brought to figurative blows, it’s a superlative drama about the trauma of separation, and the scars it leaves. If you’ve never been through a divorce, it’ll scare the hell out of you. And if you have, it’ll break your heart.A companion piece of sorts to 2005’s The Squid and the Whale (which was partly based on the disintegration of his parents’ marriage, and told from an adolescent perspective), and undoubtedly influenced by his own split from first wife Jennifer Jason Leigh, Marriage Story is Baumbach’s most assured work to date. That’s evident from the outset, in which we’re presented with respective montages of Nicole (Johansson) and Charlie (Driver)-she detailing his best qualities via narration, and vice versa-going about their day-to-day duties as spouses, artists (he’s a director of plays, and she’s his star actress) and parents to 8-year-old son Henry (Azhy Robertson). Upon concluding, it’s revealed that their comments have been penned for use in a mediation session as a way to start their separation proceedings on a positive, remembering-the-good note. It’s a conventionally nice thought that inevitably fails, as Nicole proves uninterested in reading aloud the nicey-nice things she thinks about her soon-to-be ex. Although they’re still living together in their Brooklyn apartment, a post-show cast party finds the two situated at different tables, and leaving abruptly to ride the subway home in silence, with Baumbach positioning them at opposite ends of the car, divided in the frame by a center-aisle pole, with Charlie standing and Nicole sitting. It’s far from the last image of disconnection and alienation-later shots of Charlie stranded amidst a crowd of Times Square pedestrians as he receives a horrific phone call, and wandering amongst a sea of California rental cars, similarly suggest the duo’s forlorn isolation. At the same time, Baumbach keeps his camera close to his leads’ faces, capturing their suffering and sorrow in exacting detail. Having nabbed an audition for a TV pilot, Nicole travels with Henry to her native Los Angeles, where she stays with her intrusive mom (Julie Hagerty) and flustered sister (Merritt Wever). Though initially interested in handling the divorce amicably, she visits attorney Nora Fanshaw (Laura Dern), whose oh-so- understanding attitude-augmented by her wonderful tea and cookies-is tactical through and through. It’s also successful, inducing Nicole to open up about the displacement and loss-of-identity and agency
  • 46. issues that, more than Charlie’s infidelity, drove her to embark on her present course. In a prolonged take that’s as aesthetically subtle as it is emotionally revealing, a magnificent Johansson guides us through Nicole’s winding interior journey of recollection, analysis and self-assertion-a development that’s as eye-opening to us as it seems to be for her.Divorce papers are subsequently filed, and served to a blindsided Charlie during his visit to L.A. In turn, he sees cutthroat shark Jay (Ray Liotta), who terrifies him with talk of a forthcoming cataclysmic conflict. He opts instead to go with welcoming lawyer Bert Spitz (Alan Alda), whose I’m-your-friend shtick and promises of avoiding court soon ring hollow. Escalation follows escalation. Nicole attempts to establish herself and Henry as California residents. Charlie fights that effort, arguing that they were always a New York clan. Catch-22s materialize, with Charlie realizing that getting a place in L.A. helps Nicole’s contention that they’re a West Coast-based family, while staying in New York aids her chances of securing sole custody. Panic gives way to frustration gives way to tears gives way to ire, all of it coming to a head during a quarrel between Charlie and Nicole that deteriorates into wall-punching, finger-pointing confessions of their deepest, darkest, ugliest resentments. That Marriage Story manages to be funny at routine intervals is a near miracle, given that its every moment feels ripped from raw, miserable reality, whether it’s Charlie and Henry spending an afternoon being observed by a weirdo “evaluator,” or Jay and Nora nastily bickering in a courtroom populated by waiting-their-turn couples and in front of an indifferent judge. In these spaces, judgment is everywhere, thus compelling everyone to engage in keeping-up-appearances performances. It’s enough to trigger any divorcée’s PTSD, and that goes double for Jay’s introductory doom-and-gloom-and-strategy meeting, which is so true to life that, in a few minutes’ time, Liotta almost steals the entire film (by which I mean, incites seismic heart palpitations).Baumbach’s screenplay is scalpel-sharp. His dialogue is rife with exchanges that seem trivial on the surface but are loaded with spiteful meaning, and his staging is awash in sideways glances and minor gestures that are coiled with fury. Nonetheless, it’s his performers-always front and center in one painfully intimate composition after another-who carry Marriage Story’s contentious load. His face fluctuating between downtrodden desperation and lashing-out rage, Driver evokes Charlie’s agony with nuance and intensity, peaking with his showstopping rendition of “Being Alive” from Stephen Sondheim’s Company. Likewise gifted with a Company number (“You Could Drive a Person Crazy”) that speaks to her condition and trajectory, Johansson is more than Driver’s equal, conveying Nicole’s increasingly hardened resolve without sacrificing the grief and confusion underscoring her state of mind- culminating with a climactic reaction shot in a bathroom doorway, full of anger, bitterness, appreciation and hope, that’s as good as any big-screen acting this year. Together, they deftly express how divorce amplifies the worst of us and blights out the best, leading only to vitriol, sadness and ruin.To a degree even greater than its spiritual forefathers Kramer vs. Kramer and Shoot the Moon, Marriage Story considers the positions of its dueling protagonists with an even-handed empathy that also, ultimately, extends to Henry, an unsteady boy caught (at one point, literally) in the middle of a tug-of-war that can have no clear-cut winner. And in its penultimate scene, it achieves a measure of poignant, tragic grace, via both its portrait of divorce as the last act of a long-running story which began with ecstatic promise- as well as its recognition that, even after the papers are signed and the ordeal is over, the memories of those happier times linger on.Read more at The Daily Beast.Get our top stories in your inbox every day. • 52. should see a big uptick. The chance to grab this one is coming from AllCollectorCars.com.Just as a good collector vehicle should be, this Land Rover looks amazing from any angle, including laying on your back underneath it. A partial restoration, which included completely redoing the interior, leaves this rig ready to impress even highly critical eyes. Even more importantly, various components like the rear trailing arm bushings, front/rear drive shafts, and axle flange have been replaced. Thanks to a repaint and virtually unblemished body panels, you could take this SUV to an upscale venue and not feel out of place. Black exterior trim pieces like the grille, headlight bezels, wheels, and roof rack make for an aggressive edge. A polished front skid plate and side steps, plus clear taillights add some interesting contrast.Taking to the trail would be completely doable with this Defender. It rides on new General Gabber All-Terrain tires, which bite into a whole range of surfaces for excellent grip. Auxiliary LED lights mounted ot the front of the roof rack help with illuminating dark trails or a campsite. Then there’s the 2.5-liter turbo-diesel engine, providing the kind of low-end torque you need to get over obstacles and out of tough spots. A 5-speed manual transmission helps you maintain optimal control at all times, which is another huge plus.As for the interior, the first thing which jumps out is the two-tone black and orange leather seats. Numerous other upgrades are present, including a custom sound system with a Pioneer touchscreen. Two bench seats in the rear allow you to take along a big group for adventure or a night on the town.If you’re interested in this Land Rover Defender, you don’t have much time to register to bid on it. Several other upcoming auctions are slated for the site, which include another Land Rover Defender and other cars you might find just as interesting. This is why we have bought more Ford pickups than any other vehicle. For some reason, no matter how much we love our Ford, it inevitably gets sold to finance some other dumb project. Then, after months of missing the character and practicality of the truck, we cave and buy another one. And so now, we sit here staring at the sale page for a 1971 Ford F100 and the want is setting in again. We need to own another classic Ford, and this one looks perfect for the job.Under the hood sits the 390 cubic-inch V8, the biggest motor offered in the fifth-gen trucks, and it’s mated to the 3-speed automatic. The motor is not original, but the rebuilt transmission is. It’s the perfect combination of usable power and easy driving to make it a daily driver. The truck is also surprisingly rust-free for its year.Best of all, the truck is visually perfect for a daily as well. The interior looks pristine, and the paint is a solid 15 foot job. But thanks to a healthy set of dents in the bed, and just enough scrapes and bumps across the body, you’ll never feel bad for bombing around in the rain, or getting a load of wood from the local lumber yard. We know from experience that an F100 of this generation will easily take 30 bales of hay across the bed if wanted to do that. The worst part for us in this situation is the price. Classic Auto Mall in Morgantown, PA is only asking for $10,500 to own this pickup. This is a dire situation. The square grille, coupled
  • 55. with those round lights and dark red paint, is just screaming our name. We really need someone to call that dealership and take this truck home before we have to explain to our spouse why there is another Ford truck sitting in the drive way.Of course, we could just stop selling off all of our other Ford trucks, but then how would we ever have an excuse to buy another one? While you can find these former military vehicles in conditions ranging from fully restored to dilapidated relics, this all-original, driver-quality 1945 Willys MB will be up for auction online through All Collector Cars Auctions.According to the auction listing, this Willys MB was purchased by its current owner from an Army Captain, who had been the third-generation owner of this Jeep. In addition to its Army green paint and tan top, this MB still has the functional Army vehicle look with the shovel and axe mounted on the side and the fuel can and spare tire mounted on the back. While many MBs have had gun mounts and other fake war memorabilia tacked on, the only parts not original to this one are the soft top and canvas seat covers. Everything else is in all-original condition, and the winning bidder will even get some spare parts! This 1945 Willys MB is definitely showing its age, but it has been maintained and stored in a climate-controlled barn. In its current condition, this Willys MB would be perfect for parade duty, but a good restoration would transform this ex-military vehicle into a full- fledged show winner. The good news is that everything works, and the Willys runs strong thanks to its original driveline consisting of the 60-horsepower 2.2-liter inline-four cylinder, three-speed manual transmission and the two-speed Dana 18 transfer case. All Collector Cars Auctions estimates that this 1945 Willys MB is worth between $16,700 and $27,400, and if you want a shot at owning this incredible piece of automotive Americana, be sure you're registered to bid by clicking HERE. The online-only auction for this Willys MB will be open from October 7 - 14. It’s a healthy debate to have, but we’ve got to do something now.” Buttigieg went on to say the issue could potentially distract Democrats from areas where they could make real advances in gun control.Buttigieg has called for a ban on the sale of certain semi-automatic rifles, but has joined the rest of the Democratic primary field in resisting O'Rourke's call for a "mandatory buyback," which would require gun owners to sell their semi-automatic rifles to the government and hold those who refuse criminally liable.Later in the event, Beto O’Rourke, who has made past headlines with his outspoken support of mandatory gun confiscation, challenged Buttigieg as a candidate “worried about the polls” and who “probably wants to get to the right place, but is afraid of doing the right thing right now.”After the event in a news conference with reporters, O’Rourke went further.“What Pete has been saying is that a mandatory buyback is the ‘shiny object’ that is distracting us. How in the world can you say that to March for Our Lives? How can you say that to survivors of mass shootings across this country?” O’Rourke stated. “How can you say that to the majority of Hispanics in America, certainly in Texas, who fear that they will be the victims of a mass shooting inspired by racism and hatred that has been welcomed into the open by this president, and has been armed with weapons of war.“I was really offended by [Buttigieg’s] comments. China's Golden Week Holiday Around 7.5 million Chinese people are expected to travel abroad during the National Day holidays, which started on October 1st. The wave of travelers brings wealth to tourist sites like Bangkok's grand palace. Around 250,000 Chinese travelers are expected to visit Thailand during Golden Week - 38% more than last year. A boat disaster in July 2018 off the resort of Phuket killed 47 Chinese tourists... and led to a decline in bookings. Now Thailand is luring back Chinese holidaymakers by waiving visa fees. (SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) ZHU YUNHUA, TOURIST FROM CENTRAL HUNAN PROVINCE, CHINA SAYING: "It allows us a visa upon arrival, so it is very convenient. Secondly, the tourism industry in Thailand is quite mature and developed, and it has got very good reputation." For many though, it's all about spending. Golden Week has, in recent years, become internationally famous for being a major shopping spree for the Chinese traveller. (SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) LIU LEI, TOURIST FROM BEIJING, CHINA SAYING: "My wife would go for luxury brands, while I usually buy local specialities." Beneficiaries of the Chinese spending power include the U.S., Italy, and Britain, as well as major retail destination Japan. But with the Chinese economy beginning to slow, analysts say the consumer is becoming more cautious, with many opting to stay at home. Also losing out this year, is Hong Kong. The escalating anti-government protests have gripped the Chinese-ruled city for nearly four months, scaring off tourists, and battering spending. August tourist arrivals in Hong Kong fell over 39% on the year, the biggest decline since May 2003 when an outbreak of the SARS virus hit. • 114Reactions • • World Yahoo Sport UK 'Absolutely heartbreaking': 22-year-old world champ killed in mountain bike accident Mikayla Martin's death has left the skiing community shattered. • 40Reactions •
