Digital Trends
This document records the latest
digital trends that both brands and
consumers are currently engaging.
Below is the layout,
● Super Bowl & Brands (Part 2)
● Topical Trends
5. The Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL). Since 2004, the
game has been played on the first Sunday in February.
Why is it such a big deal?
● The Super Bowl is the second-largest day for U.S. food consumption, after Thanksgiving Day.
● The Super Bowl has frequently been the most-watched American television broadcast of the year;
the seven most-watched broadcasts in American television history are Super Bowls.
● In 2015, Super Bowl XLIX became the most-watched American television program in history with an
audience of 114.4 million viewers, the fifth time in six years that the game had set a record.
● The Super Bowl is also among the most-watched sporting events in the world, and is second only
to the UEFA Champions League final as the most watched annual sporting event worldwide.
As a result,
● Commercial airtime during the Super Bowl broadcast is the most expensive of the year because of
the high viewership. This leads to companies regularly developing their most expensive
advertisements for this broadcast.
● Also, note worthy is the fact that watching and discussing the broadcast's commercials has
become a significant aspect of the event.

20. #GorillaGlueGirl
This hashtag is a response to conversations
about a Black American Lady on TikTok,
who mistook a hair gel for a permanent
glue.
She posted a video on her TikTok page and
the conversation was brought to Twitter. The
lady was having troubles removing the glue
from her hair weeks after she applied it on
her hair.
The Glue brand - Gorilla Spray Adhesive,
responded to her letting her know a couple
of ways she could try to remove the glue
from her hair.
21. #GorillaGlueGirl
This is obviously a case of mix ups, though
both Gorilla Snot and Gorilla Spray adhesive
have similar names but their packaging is
slightly different,
Though this has given publicity to both
brands, Twitter audience are pushing that one
of the brands change their packaging or
name. Some say the Glue brand should state
on its packaging that it should not be used on
hair.
