Purpose of storytelling as instructional activity: Relate information to personal experiences, enhance retention/recall via these strong personal connections.
Research your subject deeply enough that you feel you can imagine being there. If you can tell a good story, you've internalized the material. Integrating audio/visual enhances emotional connection to setting, and the ability to tell an engaging story.
More likely to fall under fair use.

Write dialogue w/ your partner Meeting Fair Use requirements in your story Think about transformative nature of your work. Is the use for a different purpose than the original? How are you adding to value of this work? Pick a character to tell a story which sheds like on that person's unique perspective Use a variety of sources, and limit extent of use (don't use more than you have to)
